Great article. And we can’t forget also that we have concentration camps on our own soil!

Kathie, your comment needs to be carved in stone. Because the quiet cruelty ain’t just “elsewhere.” It’s here. Camps. Detention centers. State-backed abandonment. “Concentration” may not be what they call them but caged humans, stolen time, and forgotten justice? Yeah, we see it.

That’s why this line from Cohen hit me in the gut:

“Silence, too, is a choice. And in moments like these, it’s the loudest one of all.”

That silence isn’t accidental. It’s designed. It’s the new algorithm of power: rage-click scandals up front, buried trauma in the back. One to distract you, one to break you.

I’ve been tracing this tactic across other news too…that which gets shoved under the rug when the rug’s on fire. I’m tracking it. Loudly. And you just gave me more to add to the map.

And just as important as all of the things you listed, @Michael Cohen, is the fact that Trump and his co-fascists are trying to rig the 2026 elections!! Please, everybody, do NOT lose sight of this fact! They are actively trying to steal the votes.

Everywhere. Every Democrat I know is demanding fair elections. Also numerous groups have been fighting for this long before Trump. Democrats at all levels have been fighting against suppressive voter laws and gerrymandering for decades. But they were often tons too focused on on kitchen table issues, because the average voter didn’t understand all that voting stuff.

What's happening in Gaza is planned genocide. Gotta clear the way for the new Trump Middle East Riviera, don't you know. The Palestinians didn't "migrate" so now thirst, starvation and death for men, women and children. If they try to get aid, they are killed outright by Israeli forces at whatever location has food, water and medical. The UN and various nations cry foul, but it happens again and again and again until, poof, the problem will be gone and the blood of tens of 1000s seeped into the sand. Question is, who will Netanyahu target next so he can keep his ass in power, and will it be a Middle Eastern nation Trump has a real estate deal with.

It is the most tragic inhumane thing I've ever seen. Don't forget ever that the very solders who are doing the killing of even the children, probably had grandparents and great grandparents who were in German concentration camps and were starved, beaten and gassed to death. How they can intentionally take the lives of the people of Gaza is beyond me but speaks loudly to the completely loathsome inhumane monsters that they are. I truly hope that these animals will forever be haunted daily for the atrocities they have committed. I cry for the children and all the people of Gaza.

I can understand getting justice for the 1200 Israelis killed by Hamas on 10/7/23. But over 59K Palestinians have been killed, with 58% women (24%) and children under 14 (34%). With the current aid blockade by Israel, the dead may be the lucky ones. And no, I can't comprehend how a people who have been reviled and persecuted since the time of Christ can mirror the actions of those who would have gleefully exterminated them.

I don't think it's revenge. Since the Jews were given part of Palestine in 1948, they have extended Israel's borders thru conflict after conflict. They want all of Palestine. It's a land grab. Surrounding Arab countries support Hamas in their fight against Israel I think probably because they suspect Israel will not be satisfied with just Palestine.

This summation doesn't even touch on the destruction of US health and science research capability, or what has happened to defense, intelligence and law enforcement agencies. When Trump and his minions are removed from power, there must be a reckoning and punishment for those who have sought to destroy democracy, the rule of law, and the US nation itself--a legal reckoning, but as severe as the law allows. Treason cannot go unpunished.

Did Cheeto Snuff Out Epstein?

Questions have long been asked about Epstein’s “suicide” At least 2 inmates of the Metropolitan Correction Facility in Manhattan have come forth to question the possibility that Epstein actually took his own life (https://bit.ly/4535TTB) reasoning that there was no plausible reason why Epstein would do such a thing given his circumstances

Forensic analysis of the tapes made public have a glaring 3 minute deficit Despite Bondi claiming that there is a minute for “camera maintenance” does not explain the 3 minute time lapse

Then there is no forensic evidence available about the Epstein autopsy that should have been done given the circumstances of the death The report is that he hung himself with a bedsheet tied to the bunkbed but no autopsy report or DNA reporting

Lastly lecherous Cheeto has been long known to operate as a mob boss with his early Roy Cohn training Did Epstein have too much incriminating evidence against Cheeto and would try to blackmail his compadre? And hey, who cares if a sex trafficking pedophile commits suicide?

All of that and also inhumane and illegal treatment of anyone who (to ICE) looks like they might be an immigrant. Masked "agents" kidnapping people and joking about the 30K bonuses they might get. Deportations to shithole prisons and Alligator Alcatraz. SCOTUS ignoring the Constitution. And even if the Epstein files are released, I certainly wouldn't trust that they haven't been edited or altered. Fascism by its nature accepts violence, killing and death as a means to its end. Fascism also believes empathy and compassion are weaknesses. Human life is cheap to a fascist unless it is one’s own family, maybe. I say maybe because fascism also accepts violence toward women. So this trump regime is not concerned with human life which is why they were so happy to pass their Big Bastardly Bill. Now those humans they consider useless will die which is what the regime wants.

Their radio personalities also discuss many current topics without leaning too far either way. and do read/share dissenting opinions on air as well.

The only problem is the demographic audience is older, I would guess, and young people aren't adding as much to the conversation as could be helpful to our understanding of how they are thinking/feeling.

THANK YOU!!

I follow a writer here who is in Ukraine, separated from his family, and while he talks about what is going on there, *he* is also cheering *us* on, telling *us* not to give up hope! He knows how bad things are in the U.S., and he knows how bad Russia is. He's living in the middle of their unprovoked attack, and yet he sends support and encouragement that we keep fighting to root out the massive amounts of corruption, chaos, and cruelty going on in the name of our government.

He doesn't want to see the U.S. turn into a dictatorship any more than the decent human beings in this country want it to. Or, more accurately, to see it finish turning into a dictatorship. There's way too much of one already established. So much fighting still ahead of us.

He has his original Substack https://viktorkravchuk.substack.com

and recently started one "from a war zone in Ukraine to the streets of America."

https://freedomline.substack.com

Both wonderful and heartbreaking that a man is his position reaches out to us in the United States. Ukraine has shown Russia strength by resisting for 3 1/2 years now. Please may we still not be under the rule of the current regime 3 1/2 years now, and may they find peace soon.
