I’m in Michigan and worked in Detroit and Michigan health care my entire career. My only concern is his support from groups that want Israel destroyed. Some Jews have created the impression that if you criticized Israel you were antisemitic. That is ridiculous on its face, as any nation can be criticized. With each passing year, fewer and fewer American Jews actually have a positive view of Israel anymore. Netanyahu and his cronies are especially shocking.
Meanwhile, the Jews had been persecuted for thousands of years, and therefore it seemed right to create a country just for them, especially after the Holocaust. However, no country does well by favoring one group over another. This has been tried before and has always failed, no matter which group has been discriminated against or which group favored. Israel drove 750,000 Palestinians out of their homes at gunpoint when Israel was founded; and Israel had been founded without consulting with the different groups who already lived in the land that was set aside after WWII for the Jews. Israel should have wanted to represent fairness to all, after what the Jews had experienced. It has not. It has oppressed the Palestinians all along, and has laws on its books that discriminate against Palestinians. Israeli leaders have called Palestinians "vermin." They have wantonly killed, and continue to kill, many, many thousands of Palestinians. The IDF shoots pregnant women and babies. With this horrendous practice, Israel is digging her own grave, because an oppressor never lasts forever. It has destroyed hospitals, schools, most apartment buildings. It has created the excuse that Hamas was using these places to hide, but there is no evidence of that. The Hamas attack of October 7th was horrendous, but it was in response to unremitting cruelty by Israel against Palestinians.
There should be just one country there, with fairness to ALL people living there. One state. The Jews of Israel who have always seen the Palestinians as innately against them will have to change their views on this, and want to welcome Palestinians. Israel has invested heavily in the US, providing surveillance systems for our border (Elbit Systems). AIPAC--The American Israel Public Affairs Committee--is investing millions--yes, millions--in trying to elect Rogers and not give this good doctor a chance; El Sayed is critical of Israel, and Israel wants to punish anybody who is critical of it. Israel is carrying on a genocide, and must stop immedicately. Some US law enforcement agencies, including ICE, have participated in training and exchange programs with Isreali military, police, and intelligence officials (I got that from the Internet). This is called the Deadly Exchange. In my city, New York, our former Mayor DeBlasio said, "I see part of my job description as being a defender of Israel." (There are many Jews living in New York City.) Former NY Governor Mario Cuomo visited Israel and got a guided tour by Netanyahu.
Israel has sent cultural groups to the US in order to, as one Israeli official put it, "give Israel a pretty face." It has invested close to $24 billion in the US.
