Regime change has usually been a costly disaster. Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq are examples.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Precisely. Any meaningful change will be inside-out, not imposed by the USA from the outside-in. We are shit at regime change.

Sirin Kaslana's avatar

Look at our current scenario! We can't even fix our own regime!

Ronald Petrin's avatar

We need executive statements! WTF hedge hedge hedge…

Ronald Petrin's avatar

Where is this going?

LV's avatar

Not to mention the total lack of intelligence in the White House and Dept of “War”! If Kegsbreathe has a plan he will post it on bloody Facebook first.

Leslie's avatar

So we want to save them from tyranny but not ourselves?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Great question.

Robot Bender's avatar

It's not about saving them. It's about natural resources.

Judy's avatar

It’s about distraction and theft

Blasphemous Rhapsody's avatar

It would just be another huge distraction for our own Mussolini. Anything to obscure the Epstein connection:{

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yep. Wag the dog.

Mary Phillpotts's avatar

and he's doing exactly that today

As an Afghan veteran who served alongside U.S. Special Forces for many years, I read this with a heavy heart. We in Afghanistan learned the hard way that military power without long-term strategy, political commitment, and real partnership with local people leads to tragedy. It is easy to begin a war; it is much harder to build peace.

If the United States considers striking Iran, leaders must remember the lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan the human cost, the wounded, the families shattered, and the allies left in uncertainty. Pressure without diplomacy, and promises without follow-through, can destroy trust for generations.

The Iranian people, like the Afghan people, deserve freedom and dignity. But real support means more than words. It requires strategy, accountability, and a commitment that does not disappear when headlines change. Those of us who fought beside America believe in those principles and hope they guide any decision that could cost more lives.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yes yes yes!!! And our government has treated our allies so shamefully. Thank you, and you and those who risked their lives for us deserve so much better.

AkaClaire Briding's avatar

Thank you, you who served your vow to our Constitution. Thank you x 1000.

Blasphemous Rhapsody's avatar

The spineless cowards of this clownshow administration would most certainly put our brave boys and girls in harm's way to serve their own greedy, self-serving interests. Forget empathy and rationality— Trump has his own agenda. $$$$$

Iran's rulers are cowards and are trying to fight the tide of progress. Their people are suffering and desperate for freedom from the yoke of self-serving religious fervor.

Trump pledged US support for their protests, then betrayed them and let them be sacrificed. If the US attacks, there will be no strategy or lessons learned. It is the Project 2025's goal of world domination. Israel is on board this insane trip, too.

Congress Stop Trump from starting a WAR with IRAN

Pati Muth's avatar

We need to go higher up than congress, we need to hit the supreme court with taking the DEMON's immunity away because of his abuse of power period! They obviously think if there is a war he will protect them! The truth will hit them hard when he says there is no room in the bunker for them which he will do!

Joe Plenzler's avatar

The price of bad leadership is the casualty list.

Judy's avatar

Did anyone ever think he wouldn’t abuse power?

GreatCeasarsGhost's avatar

The problem with this? trump NEEDS a MASSIVE distraction from his failed domestic & foreign 'POLICE-ies'.

What's going on in Venezeula? O that was last month's news. Why focus on that when the US is threatening...

Cuba

Canada

Panama

Greenland

Columbia

(More) proof that he's an idiot? He HAD a soft exit re tariffs but instead doubled-down; his stick to hit other countries with.

Edward mead's avatar

Friends, don't forget Epstein and Illegal Terriff money that Trump took ..

Penny Thibeaux's avatar

No WAR

RUMP EPSTEIN FILES

RUMP EPSTEIN FILES

EXPOSE RUMP EPSTEIN FILES TO THE WORLD

THEN LOCK THEM ALL UP

NO WAR

THEN WE VOTE !

JudiLI's avatar

Trump Epstein Files are turning into Watergate Part 2. We saw Part 1 and it ended badly for the culprit and the nation. Trump will do anything, even launch a war, anything to deflect from the TEF.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

And young Americans in our military and Iranian civilians will die…

GreatCeasarsGhost's avatar

Not to worry-

trump has his 'thumb up' and pathetic smile ready to 'deploy', just like he did at the disgusting photo op at Arlington Natl Cemetery & also at the photo op where 137 Texas folk died from the 2025 massive floods

also a photo of him and the porn chick at an El Paso hospital, holding the now-orphaned infant whose parents died from a mass shooting. If trump was in SD, he would have posed with Noem after she shot her puppy.

Judy's avatar

Isn’t that the republican way? When all else fails to distract the population, start a fucking war. This one we cannot win. Iranian leadership have convinced their young men that dying in battle will get them 27 virgins in the afterlife.they like death so they have zero problem dying or causing the death of millions of other people. Read the book Alas Babylon. It was written in the early 1950s. It’s about a US attack on Iran and what happened after. War will come here, if those flickers attack Iran.

Kirsten's avatar

Please! A 75 year old book is providing accurate insights into the current Iranian culture. The people’s rebellions have the goal of lifting the theocratic boot from their throats. Assuming all the young men there still believe and obey religious lore is an insult to all the educated, principled and secular Iranians oppressed by their religious extremist rulers.

Mary Phillpotts's avatar

Yep, he just did it this morning

Barry Cusitar's avatar

The US does a "one night" bombing run into Iran and declares victory, then captures a foreign leader and declares victory, and continues to bomb fishing boats.......this Iran build up of warships etc is different, and the idiots in charge, namely Hegseth and Trump have no clue. What American in their right mind would lay down their life for these utter fools?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yep. Great question. The price of bad leadership in combat is dead and wounded service members.

Bob's avatar

If congress was not so week would be impeached for starting another illegal operation without following the correct procedure to declare war. But as usual with tariff fiasco ,when challenged just moves goalpost for another illegal act.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yes. It feels like we have the appearance of a democracy today, and not a real one.

gayle gibson's avatar

When ICE are in the streeets, dragging people from their cars, smashing people to the pavement, shooting protesters, there is not even the appearance of democracy left. America is becoming a pariah state.

Old Uncle Dave's avatar

If the United States and Great Britain had not overthrown the government of.Mohammad Mosaddegh and placed the Shah in power in order to protect the profits of British Petroleum, the Islamic revolution of 1979 wouldn't have happened and Iran would probably be our ally today.

Miriam Kearney's avatar

Only by degrees can we compare Iran to America. America hasn't figured out how to close down the internet yet, but they are doing their best to close down all other forms of media. From newspapers to cable TV, they want complete control over what goes out. Yes, the numbers of dead here are smaller, but the process is the same:

1. Protest

2. Get shot

3. Protest

4. Get arrested

5. Protest

6. Get knocked down and beat up

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yeah, defending one’s liberties takes personal risk. I’m so grateful for the everyday Americans who have documented what is going on - the citizen “journalists” are truly patriotic.

We have been underfunding and disparaging our diplomatic services for eight decades, dating back to the "who lost China" days. And we have paid the price in lost lives, lost opportunities, and lost money. This trend has reached what I hope will be its nadir with the utterly vile, utterly corrupt, and utterly incompetent Trump Administration. Diplomats are expensive, but soldiers and their equipment are far more so. Especially when incompetent civilians want to put them to use in dubious causes.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yep!!! Diplomacy is cheap when you compare it to the costs of war.

Judy's avatar

Trump doesn’t know the first thing about diplomacy. He is the playground bully. If he decides to convince the maga cult to attack Iran, he has bitten way more than he could chew

James Coyle's avatar

But it’s We the People who will be forced to choke it down.

markr61888's avatar

First we'd be in hopes that our military and high generals and congress finally dont follow negligent orders because trump and hegseth made up b.s to again start a war that will most definitely kill our men for only personal reasons that are beyond stupidity.Trump's the threat and get it through all their thick skulls that he will do anything to run away from being prosecuted from the Epstein files and more .hes a treasonous disgrace that pur arm forces need to realize with not one ounce of respect .he knows nothing about diplomacy and is a ballless authoritarian fascist that should be hunted down for crimes committed against our country and others for crimes against humanity.

Carol Erlingheuser's avatar

Our government has screwed over the Afghanistans who fought with and helped our troops, denying them asylum.

I have no doubt the same would be done to the Iranians once Trump and his friends get what they want.

“Fight on, help is coming”, as people are slaughtered and nothing is done.

If I didn’t live here, I wouldn’t come here. Wish my grandparents had stayed in Sweden. 🇸🇪

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Funny how freedom for the Venezuelan people was never a point of discussion in the Maduro abduction. The abusive government there remains in power, while Trump extracts wealth.

Debretrn's avatar

Who is running the show? Our President??? Hegseth????Hegseth wants to fight- wants warriors, Stephen Miller makes all the decisions for POTUS. Think we’re in trouble, however, this is based on domestic issues, I have no idea re military… I trust our military- just not the decision makers

Joe Plenzler's avatar

We have a very professional and lethal military and also civilian control of it. We’re gonna find out together.

Carol Erlingheuser's avatar

You trust the military? Hegseth wants the technology of the one AI company that won’t turn it over until these agreements are met: It won’t be used to spy on all of us and it won’t be used to shoot weapons on the battlefield because a malfunction could kill our own troops .

Hegseth has threatened to ruin the company financially and also said he will just “take it”.

Too many capable military with integrity have been removed and left us with this.
