I'll tell you who will be grieving tomorrow and, thereafter likely forever -- those who allowed Hegseth to order the most dangerous meeting in the history of not just the US Military, but our Republic.

Why aren't all of you FOCUSED on what is about to happen, Michael and Ben?

This is my letter to Professor Snyder that includes the letters I've written to Senators Duckworth, Cantwell & Murray and Rep Adam Smith:

The Joint Chiefs must refuse the meeting and order all their subordinates not to attend.

You have sufficient standing to make that demand, publicly, and I hope you do so, today.

Thank you Professor Snyder.

===================

Attached is my letter to Senators Duckworth, Cantwell & Murray & Rep Adam Smith:

I know you are working to prevent an exceptionally dangerous gathering of the entirety of the US Armed Forces "Flag Officers" on 30 Sept 2025.

I was an Officer in the US Navy in the early 1970s. My main duty station was the Defense Intelligence Agency due to my outstanding academic performance at the joint Navy, Air Force Air Intelligence School in Denver, CO.

With that background, I have a simple message -- it is beyond fucking insane to gather the entirety of the "Flag Leadership" of the US Armed Forces at a single GPS location.

That meeting must be stopped and Hegseth removed from duty before he wittingly or unwittingly enables a National Security nightmare the likes of which this Nation has never experienced.

For National Security & Operational Integrity reasons, those Officers should refuse to attend because the order is a monumental threat to them and our Nation.

It is incumbent on the Joint Chiefs to REFUSE the ORDER because it places US National Security at GRAVE, UNPRECEDENTED, MULTI-DIMENSIONAL RISK.

Thank you

I never served in the military - but I was in a family whose movements overseas were coordinated by the State Department because the main person was a terrorist target. This gathering of military personnel in one place is beyond stupid.

I agree with what you wrote and suggest you send it more Senators and Representatives.

When whiskey Pete first announced this meeting the first thing I thought this is extremely dangerous to our national security. Announcing online for the world to see and know where they’re meeting. The Generals should refuse the in person invitation and only agree to meet by video, zoom. 47 is wasting more taxpayer money to have our Generals to pledge loyalty to the psychopath and not the constitution.

It's a bit late to wrire anyone and make a difference. Hegseth and Trump knew that when they called for the meeting. The ranking members are already on their way. Some may have already arrived.

Thank you! I totally agree and am stymied as to why so many of these people have not been able to see the writing on the wall before November ‘24!!! It was always going to come to a confrontation like this. And I truly hope, too, that they do not show up. Hegseth and crew are like little kids making up the action of a play based on how they feel and how they”cool would that be,” that I have feared something more bat-shit crazy has been in the plan. Something lethal. We shall see, but I see tomorrow as a crossroads of sorts. This is It.

I totally agree with you. I do not know why the Officers are complying with this order. They all know how utterly stupid this is and yet they are all going to show up. What the heck? Is this when they forget who they are supposed to protect and just do as Hegseth and Trump order, shoot civilians? I pray for all of us.

Understand your comment, Donna, and I didn't in any way say that "Hegseth [told] any ...".

My FOCUS is on the single most dangerous order ever given in the History of the United States Military -- Ordering all 'Flag Officers' to a single GPS location.

That would have been hideously stupid prior to the Era of Drone Warfare.

Issuing that ORDER now is nothing short of CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE.

Hegseth ISSUED THAT ORDER.

Full stop.

The "toothpaste" of American gun ownership and 2nd Amendment extreme rights cannot be put back in the tube. Gun-restriction laws only get decried as "too much government interference", which is what MAGA (and that guy who just got killed in Utah) is all about. Just my two cents.

No question about it.

No other Nation has a POPULATION with MORE GUN OWNERSHIP (much of which are 'weapons of war') than the US.

Unfortunately, folk like Trump & Hegseth failed math.

Our Military is LESS THAN 1% of US POPULATION.

Will leave it to you to finish the syllogism (algorithm).

My husband is a Vietnam Vet (‘68-‘69) who has PTSD and now other issues related to Agent Orange. Those veterans rarely have shot innocent people in America but the ones who served in Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq, are traumatized beyond belief. These past wars involved chemical warfare. Vets have not had their needs met, especially now with the idiot, Doug Collins, heading the VA.

My precious friend was an Australian Army medic and served for many years, the last two (four tours) in Fallujah, Iraq. His health is destroyed, both mental and physical. He enlisted to serve but was faced with unrelenting horror. He was a joyful young man, clever and heroic. Now he wakes screaming in the night. He and every serviceman and woman deserve more that can ever be repaid. His broken back is slowly mending, his mind will never know peace. He will never be able to open a letter with his address - the greatest source of fear was being identified and your family at home made a target.

The Thief in Chief is a child with a toy. He has no capacity for respect, judgement or input from wiser heads. The extreme stupidity of demanding attendance (and a pledge of fealty?) from the military brass in one meet and greet is dangerous. Hitler did this. We know what followed.

From Aus it's easy to have opinions but the world has grown small and we are all affected by every decision made by our leaders. So grateful for Meidas. Thanks team. 🌎🇺🇸🇦🇺🌏

My parents were Holocaust victims from Germany and Poland. My maternal grandparents were gassed at Chelmno in January of 1942. My father also was a WWII vet who fought in the Pacific Theater for 4 years.

This is what happens when a country treats guns like sacraments and PTSD like a punchline. We train people for war, abandon them in peace, then act shocked when the battlefield spills into the pews and the pubs.

It’s not “tragic.” It’s predictable. And it’s on us. Politicians keep cashing lobby checks while we light candles at vigils, pretending the next massacre won’t land in our ZIP code. That’s not freedom. That’s a lottery of grief.

The u.s. of a. also has a mental health problem. In the case of these veterans, it's like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Your government under every adminstrations has sent your boys and your men to fight under the guise of fighting for democracy, yet quite often it has been for capitalistic ventures. Even these soldiers fought on foreign soil, they have brought their war home to their communities and their families. War pays for a few shareholders , but the price for their families and communities is priceless.

Cheeto's Truth Social Tells It All

Straight out of Hitler's Remigration, the Orange Cheeto described how immigrants are destroying the country by taking away jobs and benefits from Hard Working Americans, diluting voters' choice, cheating in elections, growing the welfare state

"These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities—And they are doing a good job of it! There is something wrong with them. That is why they believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women’s Sports—And that is why I want ICE, Border Patrol, and our Great and Patriotic Law Enforcement Officers, to FOCUS on our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities, and those places where Sanctuary Cities play such a big role. You don’t hear about Sanctuary Cities in our Heartland!”

Are you quoting what the orange orangutan posted when you speak of democrats and the radical left democrats and how they are sick of mind and are boogeymen? I 💯 agree we need to stop fascism and stop the authoritarian government from illegally destroying our America without any accountability or consequences. The same six Supreme Court justices are party biased and apparently spineless and just as corrupt if they can’t do their position they are supposed to based on our laws and constitution. They can’t continue to serve unjust verdicts and allowing Presidential immunity for known personal social media posts on their personal accounts. That’s not considered protected under immunity for private posts by our President that incite violence or other acts when not the official Presidential account that is still used as President to spread lies, blame innocent people for anything and shut people up or ship them off to wherever. How about a required equal party or bipartisan Supreme Court and consequences for repeated violations and then removal… make it impartial with term limits and maybe we can enforce winning court cases and not favoritism for the top elites. Many shootings are happening in smaller areas you wouldn’t expect it and definitely not the big cities only. STOP attacking and refusing assistance to blue states or controlling these tv stations and taking away freedom of speech! I am sticking to my awesome and upfront truthfully told Independent media like YouTube channels, Substack and other platforms. Don’t forget to sign up for their newsletters and the known websites and sign up for free newsletters to stay informed about our peaceful protests or anything we can do to help change how far we have fallen! Remove unqualified and corrupt government officials and replace them with experienced leaders who understand their roles. Hegseth, RFK Jr, and the rest of them need to go! Let’s take our country back!!!

When nothing was done in this country after the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre of 20 innocent children and six adults attending school, there has been a hardening in the hearts of our legislators and lobbyists who are more focused not on lives but on money. In 1791, the Second Amendment pertained to militias, but has morphed into a stand on individual rights with few regulations or background checks. Anyone who desires a weapon can acquire one or multiple weapons. To have more weapons than people in this country is simply astounding and alarming, yet nothing will change the situation not even prayers. Such a dismal reality for Americans because of weak and cowardly legislators who falsely purport to feel empathy for the victims and their families, yet are too cowardly to make any changes to save the lives of children, mothers, wives, fathers, husbands, brothers, sisters, etc.

Expand full comment
angela clark's avatar

Finally! A reference to the original reason for the 2nd Amendment. Context matters. It also seems relevant that the 'arms' referred to were not the weapons of war now so freely available. Perhaps a time will come when lobbyists are jailed for election interference and these issues will no longer carry weight. If there is zero profit, interest in promoting anything seems to evaporate.
