I have protested just about every single week with a few exceptions, and have gotten no traction here in maga country - just disrespect, and lectures of how I do not know my history, spitting in my face, called a terrorist, and obscene gestures and slurs for showing a variety of signs* that encourage people to think and take action, none disrespectful, but truthful as to what is going on, etc.. not effective, so I am trying other things.. like illustrating an well written effective essay that a friend wrote and hoping that sending this out may make some people THINK! We need to keep trying to do whatever we can however we can with whatever we have... *(where law ends tyranny begins' save our national parks, black,brown and indigenous lives matter, greed and racism are destroying America , obey the constitution, a country without empathy is a crime syndicate with a flag, bring Kilmar home, and so forth..) People do not pay attention to single people or couples or a few people they need millions of us out there, and nobody seems to care. it is disheartening to see that Americans do not appreciate what they had, nor did they respect it enough to treat it the way they should have and this is why we are in this mess. We need reformation and rebuilding all over again. Most people protest only when it looks like a party, they do not want inconvenience of making a steady resistance. Too bad, because of their acquiescence to tyranny, we are essentially no longer a democratic country.
fight is a little misleading of a word, if you mean resist - okay, as in communicate and let 'em know what is needed to prosper on a real grand planetary scale.. but if it means battered and bruised - nah, it is more like a dance, we all learn moves that make the cooperation, and grace happen, and we all thrive. We need to communicate and think of everyone not just ourselves for a change!
I don’t HAVE to protest; I don’t live in a dictatorship that needs to be fought. But I DO know what I’m willing to do to fight against fascism, and once a month protests don’t cut it.
It’s simple, if it barely inconveniences YOU, it sure as hell doesn’t inconvenience THEM.
I have also joined in protests and felt wonderful being part of a huge crowd of people - but it didn’t escape me that how I feel isn’t relevant to what we are fighting for.
Trump didn’t care about millions of people protesting on Saturday. I doubt he’d even care about millions protesting at Mar a Lago every day and twice on Sundays (so long as security keeps them far enough away from him that he doesn’t have to see or hear them while golfing). This is his last term in our democracy - he’s either going to succeed in turning it into an autocracy in which he rules until he dies, or someone else will be elected in 2028. Protests will not change this basic fact.
What nobody seems to want to acknowledge is that unless we impose consequences on congress and the executive branch regime, they aren’t going to stop. They laugh at the protests and continue steamrolling through the constitution.
Consequences must be severe and prolonged to effect any real change. At this point, I’m all in on whatever it takes. I haven’t spent an effing dime on anything but necessities since orange kkklown drove his kkkart back into the oval. Imagine if we all did that. And I’m not even protesting so much as refusing to give a dollar to any business that supports fascism (or rolls over for it) and sends a portion of what I spent in taxes. It’s a principled stand, not resistance. Same with protests.
What we should be doing is blocking roads and streets, herding into Washington and federal courthouses and ice detention centers in massive numbers, screaming and chanting loudly to disrupt normal business in the area. Scheduling national call in sick days to correspond with protest days. Refusing to spend money to stimulate this fascist economy, except to keep ourselves fed and sheltered (and bonus, we’ve saved tens of thousands of dollars, just sitting in our bank accounts). Flooding the lines daily with calls to our congressional reps. Inconveniencing the hell out of them all, AND jeopardizing the federal dollars they are using to fund their concentration camps. And, if this doesn’t lead to republicans doing the right thing and impeaching this mother effer (and firing his enablers) … we then prepare for civil war.
Some causes are more important than laws, especially when those laws are twisted into injustice and atrocity. Interfere with ICE. Punch NAZIs. Show the contempt and disgust publicly and call out neighbors, family, friends who support this regime. End relationships. Cut off your parents, siblings, spouse, adult kids. We need to make this extremely painful for them, prolonged, relentless.
Because protesting on a schedule that allows us to carry on as normal, go to work, see movies, enjoy a good meal at a restaurant … that’s nothing but performative.
Protests should be daily......coast to coast lockdowns of buisnesses and schools. There is not enough resistance........My personal boycott of USA goods is 24/7/365.Travel to USA will never happen under Taco Tits maga.

I have protested just about every single week with a few exceptions, and have gotten no traction here in maga country - just disrespect, and lectures of how I do not know my history, spitting in my face, called a terrorist, and obscene gestures and slurs for showing a variety of signs* that encourage people to think and take action, none disrespectful, but truthful as to what is going on, etc.. not effective, so I am trying other things.. like illustrating an well written effective essay that a friend wrote and hoping that sending this out may make some people THINK! We need to keep trying to do whatever we can however we can with whatever we have... *(where law ends tyranny begins' save our national parks, black,brown and indigenous lives matter, greed and racism are destroying America , obey the constitution, a country without empathy is a crime syndicate with a flag, bring Kilmar home, and so forth..) People do not pay attention to single people or couples or a few people they need millions of us out there, and nobody seems to care. it is disheartening to see that Americans do not appreciate what they had, nor did they respect it enough to treat it the way they should have and this is why we are in this mess. We need reformation and rebuilding all over again. Most people protest only when it looks like a party, they do not want inconvenience of making a steady resistance. Too bad, because of their acquiescence to tyranny, we are essentially no longer a democratic country.

I don’t HAVE to protest; I don’t live in a dictatorship that needs to be fought. But I DO know what I’m willing to do to fight against fascism, and once a month protests don’t cut it.

I have also joined in protests and felt wonderful being part of a huge crowd of people - but it didn’t escape me that how I feel isn’t relevant to what we are fighting for.
Trump didn’t care about millions of people protesting on Saturday. I doubt he’d even care about millions protesting at Mar a Lago every day and twice on Sundays (so long as security keeps them far enough away from him that he doesn’t have to see or hear them while golfing). This is his last term in our democracy - he’s either going to succeed in turning it into an autocracy in which he rules until he dies, or someone else will be elected in 2028. Protests will not change this basic fact.
What nobody seems to want to acknowledge is that unless we impose consequences on congress and the executive branch regime, they aren’t going to stop. They laugh at the protests and continue steamrolling through the constitution.
Consequences must be severe and prolonged to effect any real change. At this point, I’m all in on whatever it takes. I haven’t spent an effing dime on anything but necessities since orange kkklown drove his kkkart back into the oval. Imagine if we all did that. And I’m not even protesting so much as refusing to give a dollar to any business that supports fascism (or rolls over for it) and sends a portion of what I spent in taxes. It’s a principled stand, not resistance. Same with protests.
What we should be doing is blocking roads and streets, herding into Washington and federal courthouses and ice detention centers in massive numbers, screaming and chanting loudly to disrupt normal business in the area. Scheduling national call in sick days to correspond with protest days. Refusing to spend money to stimulate this fascist economy, except to keep ourselves fed and sheltered (and bonus, we’ve saved tens of thousands of dollars, just sitting in our bank accounts). Flooding the lines daily with calls to our congressional reps. Inconveniencing the hell out of them all, AND jeopardizing the federal dollars they are using to fund their concentration camps. And, if this doesn’t lead to republicans doing the right thing and impeaching this mother effer (and firing his enablers) … we then prepare for civil war.
Some causes are more important than laws, especially when those laws are twisted into injustice and atrocity. Interfere with ICE. Punch NAZIs. Show the contempt and disgust publicly and call out neighbors, family, friends who support this regime. End relationships. Cut off your parents, siblings, spouse, adult kids. We need to make this extremely painful for them, prolonged, relentless.
Because protesting on a schedule that allows us to carry on as normal, go to work, see movies, enjoy a good meal at a restaurant … that’s nothing but performative.

Protests need to be WEEKS long, with no work being done. It has to include doctors, nurses, lawyers, supermarkets, etc. Everything needs to halt.
