Why I Fight: A Special Birthday Message to Elijah

Happy first birthday, Elijah.

Today, my son turns one year old. Honestly, it’s hard to believe how fast time flies—it’s truly remarkable. As I rock him to sleep just before bed, I reflect on the reasons I left my marketing job in New York four years ago to join my brothers on a mission to help preserve this democracy.

Many of you are familiar with the origins of the MeidasTouch story, so I won’t bore you with all the details here. But what I will say is this: This journey has been a roller coaster of challenges, setbacks, victories, and moments of doubt.

At its core, though, it has always been about one thing—ensuring that everyone in America has the ability to live in a world built on fairness, opportunity, and freedom.

The democracy we’ve worked so hard to protect is the foundation of that future, and that’s why every day matters.

It is hard to ignore the instability around us. With Donald Trump threatening to erode the democratic values we hold dear, it’s more important than ever for those of us who care about this country’s future to stand up, speak out, and fight back. For Elijah’s sake, for every child’s sake, we must preserve the principles that have allowed America to thrive.

I want to take a moment to thank this pro-democracy community—the Meidas Mighty—for your tireless efforts in defending our values. Your dedication, whether through organizing, voting, or simply using your voice, makes a difference every single day. The work is far from done, but your contributions give me hope for a better future.

Elijah’s first year has shown me just how precious time is, and how much we all need to fight to ensure that our children inherit a country that is more than just a shadow of its ideals.

I truly believe we have the power to shape the future, but it will take all of us. That’s why I do what I do, why I joined the fight, and why I will never stop working to ensure that democracy prevails—for everyone here today and for all future generations.
