I’ve got more bad news for Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies: Wisconsin voters are fed up. And if you want proof, look no further than Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District. That’s where Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden has turned his office into more of a frat house than a public service desk, complete with keg parties and drunken late-night tirades. This guy has time to harass Senate pages but no time to hold real town halls with his constituents. Instead, he stages fake “virtual town halls” with pre-screened questions. It’s pathetic.
Even worse, Van Orden betrayed his own promises on rural health care. He once swore he’d never support cuts to Medicaid in rural areas, yet he went along with the MAGA agenda slashing health care access for tens of thousands of people in his district. And while veterans struggle to get proper care, he’s on record pushing for VA cuts. Add to that his outrageous remarks dismissing women’s role in the armed forces, and you see the full picture: he’s a walking embodiment of everything broken in Trump’s Republican Party.
But here’s the good news. Rebecca Cooke is running to defeat him. Rebecca grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm, ran a small business, and has spent her life rooted in the community Van Orden abandoned. She’s showing up where he won’t, like at county fairs, dairy breakfasts, and real town halls, including a barn event with Senator Bernie Sanders. And people are responding. From health care to lowering costs to fighting corporate corruption, she’s actually listening and offering solutions.
The tides are turning. Voters see through the culture war distractions MAGA clings to. They don’t care about whatever nonsense Trump rants about on social media. They care about keeping their hospitals open, affording groceries, and making sure their parents and kids get the care they need. That’s why I believe Wisconsin is flipping back to blue, and it starts with electing Rebecca Cooke in the Third.
Trump and his stooges want to sell out everyday Americans for billionaires and special interests. We’re not going to let them. Rebecca Cooke is proof that the people of Wisconsin are fighting back.
