No Kings Is More Than A Slogan

Millions are preparing to march against Trump’s authoritarian chaos, demanding accountability, justice, and sanity. America’s patience is running out; but will anger finally turn into action?

Investigate Kristi Noem's Airport Propaganda

Sign the Petition

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem just hijacked airport screens across the country to push MAGA propaganda — blaming Democrats for the government shutdown and praising Donald Trump. Noem used taxpayer-funded space and her authority for partisan messaging — a clear violation of the Hatch Act.

This is an abuse of power, and it cannot go unchecked. The House Committee on Homeland Security and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs have direct oversight over the Noem’s DHS.

Public pressure can push these committees to open a formal investigation into her misuse of government resources — but only if enough of us speak out now.

Tell Congress: "Investigate DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s use of taxpayer funds to spread partisan propaganda. Hold her accountable now."

Add Your Name

Reports from The Washington Post and CNN confirm that Noem’s office coordinated with TSA and airport media networks to air the video while federal workers went unpaid.

Several airports have since pulled it, calling it “inappropriate” and “partisan propaganda,” but the production of the video alone broke the law.

If we let this slide, politicians will keep turning public platforms into campaign billboards and undermining the distinction between government and party. Congress must make it clear: the Hatch Act applies to everyone, even the president’s chief propagandists.

Add your name now to demand that Congress investigate Kristi Noem’s airport propaganda and hold her accountable. Together, we can defend the integrity of our public institutions.

Thanks for everything you do.

That’s a bit like the republicans repeatedly accusing the Dems for shutting down the government when in fact the republicans control the WH, the House and the Senate.

Dems simply refused to vote for a bill that would harm their constituents.

And when you look at the net worths and many of them making big passive money from real estate rents, and their measly $180k salaries that we pay them, isn't it profoundly petty and shamelessly greedy of them to sell out thousands of struggling constituents to save a few tens of thousands on their taxes? And I'm sure every last one of them has a signature rant about deficits, which are basically the difference between what THEY keep voting to spend and what THEY refuse to collect in revenue, aka taxes.

The utter antithesis of public servants.

What I don’t see people talking about when purchasing a home (it’s NOT the interest rate that is killing you!)- the average first (or second) time buyer can NOT compete with Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS) for single family or duplex homes that buy them for CASH. REITS take all the risk out of being a landlord and allows for overly inflated housing prices. How do

I know it’s NOT the interest rate? Because the interest rate when I bought my first home was 18%. No, not a typo: EIGHTEEN PERCENT- and the average price was about 1 1/2 times my annual income. Today’s prices are wildly skewed to BENEFIT BILLIONAIRES. Period.

You are right however housing prices have gone up dramatically. So between the rates and inflation the home you bought 5 years ago

may not now be affordable.

Ellyn's avatar

Housing prices are going up for the very reason I mentioned- they are priced as RENTAL INVESTMENTS that ordinary people can not compete with as they use it not as an investment, but to affordability live in.

REITS, though instituted in 1965, did not become highly popular (they essentially went bankrupt in the late 1970’s) until 1985 and after. After the housing “bubble” around 2008 when so many properties became available at foreclosure prices, their popularity hit a new high, just in time for COVID to hit, giving people with higher incomes (urban) the ability to have homes in more affordable areas (rural), causing a housing price inflation that intersected with REIT popularity. So now, not only are homes in rural areas priced out of the income level of people coming of age or moving back to these rural areas, but these buyers are essentially outbid by “cash offer” REITS who now rent these properties at market rates tailored to their investment targets. It’s a lose/lose situation for young buyers -and now renters- at this point.

Will what’s going on in the trump regime economy straighten this out? I doubt it, as people lose jobs & the economy worsens, with no regulations on REITS, they’ll just snap up more properties at foreclosure prices.

Until investment in these types of properties continues, it won’t- in my humble opinion-get better.

We the people need to get this corrected.

Ps- you can thank Eisenhower, the REPUBLICAN for REITS.

Totally agree with billboards! I worked for a very small wildlife conservation nonprofit that campaigned to end wildlife killing contests, which are primarily located in "red" states. We did use social media, but we got tremendous traction when we used old-fashioned billboards in rural areas and along major transportation routes to reach people who otherwise only view MAGA media and ignore the truth.

It's now open enrollment for Medicare. The premiums for my drug plan have doubled since last year, when they'd doubled from the previous year. Believe it or not, though, some other plans are charging even more than my new premium. Then there's Medi-gap, which picks up the difference between what Medicare pays and what the provider charges. The premiums for these plans are astronomical! You can pay more than $1500 a month, depending on where you live, your age, and your sex as well as your medical history. That's on top of your monthly Medicare premiums and your drug plan. If you're really unlucky, you might pay more than $20,000 a year just in premiums, and that doesn't include deductibles, co-pays, and things that aren't covered, like full price for glasses, many dentists, and full price for hearing aids and associated services. In other words, if you're not rich you may as well die. What I would like to know is, when is this going to be fixed, because if it isn't, you're going to see a lot more people living in the street and/or just plain dead.

I know it's so common to say this but, really, just how are these people able to ignore their hypocrisy while looking at themselves in the mirror each day? I'm so tired of picking up my jaw from the floor. They have entirely missed the point that being elected is a privilege, one based on their promise of care for us in return for our trust in them with our vote. Since we, the people, pay their wages and benefits like health insurance and a gold plated pension, they are public servants beholden to us not the owners of the store.

And even though the government is shut down, members of Congress still get paid “because their compensation is not tied to annual appropriations bills but is instead protected by the U.S. Constitution.”

“Millions of federal workers won't get paid during a government shutdown. But the people who could prevent or end a shutdown — members of Congress — will still receive a paycheck.

That’s because their pay is protected under Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution, which states: “The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States.”

Constitutional amendment was signed in 1983. So it’s fair to assume that many of those who voted for it are still representatives. Reagan was POTUS and W was VP. Senate was controlled by republicans. House controlled by Dems.

I’ve been a registered independent since the early 1970’s, and I think there should be term limits. And I also believe that all representatives should be able to pass a basic civics test that covers the Constitution.

“The constitutional basis for congressional pay:

“Permanent appropriation: Congressional salaries have been funded by a permanent, mandatory minimum appropriation since 1983. This ensures their paychecks continue regardless of whether Congress passes its annual appropriations bills.”

This does not surprise me. The idea of public service is a thing of the past. Today the Congress is comprised of people that for the most part are making a lot of money by the policies they pass, from insider trading, and from benefits they receive from lobbyists. Our whole system needs to be reformed for both elections and the term limits that would help to eliminate a lot of corruption.
