You can blame Mitch McConnell for that. He blocked impeachment and removal post the January 6 insurrection because while Trump is “out of office on the 20th, we don’t need to do anything to kick him out now.” That was the thinking back then. That Trump was finished in politics and we’re just gonna kick him out. Boy was Mitch wrong
