What Anand said about how change can shake people up and cause distress in their lives, even if it's welcome, is a big truth and not attended to. Many years ago I read 'Loss and Change', a book by Peter Marris, a British sociologist who taught at the UCLA Urban Planning program in the 1970-80s. It affected my life, and helped me understand why change is resisted by so many.

There are better ways to create societal change and improve our lives. Attending to the disruption and grief of powerless communities resulting from top down, insensitive social change programs was a radical idea in the early 1970s. The disability rights movement saying of 'Nothing about us without us' expresses well an alternative approach. https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/10.4324/9781315755397/loss-change-psychology-revivals-peter-marris
