Entirely false, it's you guys who imagine that this is business as usual.

Look at your arguments: all that you propose is to "take a stand".

If they don't pass the CR, Musk will be able to destroy all agencies in all legality. If they pass the CR, he will be legally forced to keep agencies open.

Look at what happened in Poland when neofascists did the same thing: it takes DECADES to rebuild a democracy if you let them destroy it all first. And throughout those decades, we need highly informed voters who don't lose patience with their government, which will continue to be ineffective for a long time, rather than voting for neofascists again.

Conclusion: Schumer, as usual, is the only one truly aware of the consequences of not voting for this CR. So he's 100% right.

I wrote a letter to Schumer to thank him for his decision. If he ever reads it who knows but the point is today everyone thinks they are “RIGHT” I don’t understand your comment on all we say is to “ take a stand” business as usual ? . Our point is to get out and meet your community in what ever fashion you like. It’s not like you’re an over night hero by doing something it’s that you keep daily doing something . The difference from the 1960s and seventies is Trump automatically closed the colleges down for activism which is ludicrous perhaps because the only film footage from that era was taken by media as an easy story at colleges. Yet today with our technology it can be easily accessible from your couch. My view and yes it’s my opinion not saying it’s right or wrong is that since Musk and Trump went cleaning the government out it will take decades to even get started again our social security checks have already this month have not come so have many of our friends at seventy with no explanations I was removed from Medicare B and now charge me $185 for Medicare A which they claim comes out of my social security checks. I have fourth stage cancer my doctors are horrified I’m one of hundreds in their practice that must stop care. Our grandson who is autistic his programs will no longer be continuing he was removed from Medicaid. He had a terrible toothache the other day cost me $750 in cash to fix and the dentist told me he was doing us a favor it usually cost $2000. This all happened in nine days

All irrelevant. The only thing that counts is: are we saving democracy or caving to Trump and giving him the legal right to destroy all US agencies (which is what not voting for the CR would do)? Schumer opts for saving democracy rather than caving to Trump.

That's because without CR, we can no longer file lawsuits against them and have the courts force them to keep the agencies open. WITH CR, they continue to be legally obliged to keep them open. So we need that CR, even though it's a VERY bad one.

Schumer was actually right to do this. IMAGINE if the gov was entirely shut down right now. They would have accelerated their authoritarian grab, dems blames for shutting down the gov, everyone fired, no Repubs able to vote against (finally) the tariffs. Let them own this CR

This is why we can't miss the forest for the trees. And yes OF COURSE the CR is horrible, but we need to be strategic for the moment we are in. Having closed the gov right now would have accelerated the authoritarian takeover.

I love Meidas but they were wrong here.
