None of the are going to resign and I don't think anything will change in the GOP total support, but we don't need much change, just a few Republicans to find some integrity. But despite the interviews that I've seen with some Democrats who say they have had conversations with republicans who do not approve of trump but are just too cowardly to stand up about it, I don't believe that one bit. I think they all approve of him. No one can be that much of a coward to give up your integrity for a better than average chance of getting re elected so you can continue to serve trump instead of your constituents.

Congressional Dems are getting pounded because they are following protocol while the other side has thrown protocol out. The Dems need to look at some YouTubes of UK Parliament - there is shouting and talking over. Reduce the house to more of a circus than it already is. Make the news as noisemakers and troublemakers. Bring kazoos. Demand a response. Do not let the Maga group bully you by ignoring you in congress. Fight loudly! Forget the protocol and procedure.

Yes. 'rump is not flying with radar. Everyone call and text your Dems and those few Republicans who are still listening. Say that there is 'no protocol' with the 'rump. Tell them to get mad, loud, demanding and do not back away. Ask the question and keep asking until there is an answer you can accept. Darn - would it not be great if a group of citizens could take the floor of Congress and have their say .. a lot! Or get the 'rump!

These are not normal times. My Congressman doesn't seem comfortable with this approach, as he is a quiet, steady guy. I have called his office and let his staff know that people want some discord. He did attend local protests during the recess, at least, but I fear we, in this really red state, will still lose one of the few sane voices we have if he doesn't start speaking up. Also, I really like Raja.

It is time for citizens to protest outside the offices and homes of every Republican member of Congress, pushing them hard to do their job of defending the Constitution. At the very least they need to take back their Congressional powers and pressure the administration to end lawless and destructive behaviours. The rest of the world can help pile on that pressure by boycotting American products, travel and services.

Trump needs to have a competency hearing to verify his ability to make sound decisions on his own- I truly believe he is just the outward vessel and people like Steven Miller ect are really running the show. All they need is Trump to blab- doesn’t matter what he says- they are doing their agenda anyway.

Things need an awakening on the budget front. They don’t get it. Stephen Miran, the chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers, sounded an upbeat note about today’s jobs data, which showed that U.S. employers added 177,000 jobs in April and that the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.2%. Look, Stephen, the jobs report is jobs added through April 12. The April 2 Liberation Day tariff war was just starting. stopping. starting. stopping. something. Give me a break.

Trump will add $720 billion to the annual budget first, and then say he wants to cut $163 billion (that won’t fly). That big addition that I see is before the new tax cut happens. The $720 billion added includes the expiring TCJA, the 2017 old tax cut. Speaker Johnson does not want you to see him hiding that TCJA renewal.

Look at the real numbers and the source data.

I think Mr. Moran realized that Trump is off his rocker and pressing him regarding M13 tattoo was enough to show he wouldn't get far with more important subject matter. Especially once Trump responded to a very simple question regarding the Declaration of Independence.

You are probably right. I think (hope?) Mr. Moran was really scratching his head back in his dressing room asking himself what is wrong with that person and how can he be the president of the United States. I guess I would like to know if he did have those kinds of thought and if so did he share them with anyone else. I know corporate media is, well corporate media and the owners do not want much negative talk about trump, but I hope some reporters/journalists are having some real soul searching moments wondering how long they can work for a company that normalizes trump's behaviors. And Yes, I do believe Mr. Moran was a lot classier than I would have been!!! I get mad/rude just leaving a message on voice mail for my 110% trumpist members of congress!

I continue to call my MOCs even though they are 110% maga folks and only support what trump says. If tomorrow he says national health care is great they will support that. If he says billionaires need to pay more taxes they will support that...it doesn't matter WHAT he says, just that he says it. But I still want them to know some constituents don't approve, even though they know their seats are safe (ultra red state/congressional district) But I also call MOCs who are speaking out against trump to let them know I appreciate and support them. Beverly, I'm happy you posted about the rigged election. Kamala Harris had a clear message for America, but some say her message was not clear. I did not understand how Trump won. Trump always claimed Biden's election was rigged. It could be that he decided to give the rigging a try. Muskrat bought the election for Trump; Musk has great hackers working for him. In my mind, rigging the election makes sense.

Plus all along, Steve Bannon on his poscast was urging MAGA to go apply for jobs in local election offices to be in positions to actually do or not do things so that republicans would win no matter what. Something like 'those who count the vote decide who wins.' How did T win every swing state? How did he win the popular vote? Added to all the other tricks like gerrymandering, purging voter rolls, closing polling locations in blue districts, removing ballot collection boxes, etc. MAGA republicans assured the outcome and promised T he would win if he ran. And he would not have run if he thought he might lose again because his fragile ego could not handle it.

Also I forgot to mention all the bomb threats called in on election day, the final blow.

Good point, Debra. How were they so convinced Trump would win. Trump is always claiming fake news when he is confronted with the Truth. His interview with Terry Moran at ABC is a perfect example. The Real Fake News is that he legally won the Presidency.

Expand full comment
Debra Slater's avatar

Farmers don't want bailouts, they want to farm and sell their goods. And it's not doled out fairly when the payouts are made.

Expand full comment
Pat Robinson's avatar

I totally agree that the bail outs are not done fairly with the huge farms getting the most. I have seen some interivews with family farmers (which again can be pretty big farms, like 1000 acres or more) who basically said they were worried but not too much since trump will take care of them. So while they may prefer to farm they don't seem to face financial uncertainty. But I do wonder about farmers who took out loans for new equipment based on infrastructure funding and since that is a biden program I think the funding has been frozen so they might be a bit worried.

A little off topic, but let's all do all we can to participate in the June 14 anti trump rally and make it much bigger than his military parade...hopefully we can get millions of veterans to march on our side to show their contempt for how he has treated them. I personally have physical issues that prevent me from marching but will be donating the money it would cost me to go to a protest to a group like Indivisible or Vote Vets that can use that money to help get other bodies there.
