How about a hostile takeover of MSM?

Eviscerate FOX. Deny them ad $ by denying the ad buying company CEO and execs bonuses. For example Home Depot. Boycott them for a full fiscal quarter. Get all on line influencers to post every day for the entire time. See how fast CEOтАЩs stop buying ads - do only ONE brand - do it implacably for an entire quarter. See how quickly you become the new sheriff in town and how fast other CEOтАЩs quit buying ads. See how fast FOX changes content. All they care about is $. Oh - and next generation FOX CEO will be a decent human being if you do this.

That is a great idea. I refuse to shop at Home Depot. I closed my account with Amazon.

We need a lead organizer to coordinate every major pro democracy influencer to drive the message home every day.

We need someone like @Rick Wilson to contact CEO of HD to give him the option to back off before we start. Why? So we can get him fired without a Golden parachute if he says no up front. Make it a demonstration of power to the rest of industry.

We need someone to contact the Wall St analysts who follow HD and have them witness the power of this movement.

We need a content maker who can provide the compelling messages that the likes of @Lincoln Project does.

We need a web site that daily updates with the hate messaging on FOX. Not just the lies, the open disgraceful vituperation from the nastiest FOX content. And then tie that comment to HD. Also a map sorted by zip code of where to find HD competitors.

Drive it home implacably every single day for a full fiscal quarter then show the world what happens to companies that suborn hate via FOX.

Make it personal for the CEO and executives and it will work. Take the gloves off. Be as nasty as they are.

Fox is extremely vulnerable. Picket them. Make Fox lies the news item.

Smartmatic $2 billion case is still pending. In a shareholder's suit, New York CityтАЩs five pension funds and the State of Oregon, by and through the Oregon State Treasurer and the Oregon Department of Justice, on behalf of the Oregon Investment Council and the Oregon Public Employee Retirement Fund, against various directors and officers of Fox Corporation, the corporate parent of Fox News Network, LLC. Plaintiffs allege that Fox NewsтАЩ leadership breached its fiduciary duties by adopting a business model that promoted or endorsed defamation by failing to establish systems or practices to minimize defamation risk despite the known risk of liability, including broadcasting false claims about election technology companies Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic USA.

Fox has outlets in every city. Challenge their licenses.

Yes - FOX gets 48% of revenue from ads. FOX cares only for money. They will change content in a heartbeat when cash is cut off.

Timothy Richley's avatar

Fox makes far more from affiliate fees they get from everyone who gets Basic cable or satellite. (3rd quarter 2024 these fees contributed $1.135 Billion to their total $1.636 Billion 3Q revenue) Fox advertisers temporarily stopped buying ads from Fox a few times over the years in response to comments made by various talking heads. While these events demonstrate that advertisers are somewhat sensitive to public perception of the network and its hosts, leading to periods where they pull their ads, and then quietly return a few weeks later. Which, while slightly lowering their quarterly income, has not changed the way they operate in the slightest. Glen Beck was their biggest star, Advertisers boycotted after viewers got angry over some things he said. Fox fired him and replaced him with Tucker Carlson, who became a bigger star. Advertisers boycotted him for his thinking he was bigger than the network. Fox fired him and brought in Jesse Watters, who gets even bigger ratings.

Now if there was a way to force cable and satellite companies to move to A-la-carte pricing, that would get rid of not only Fox but Newsmax and OANN. Along with Home Shopping and religious channels

Having full agreement with you this plan is the only viable way to get to FOX - and itтАЩs an indirect strategy. As you point out if you donтАЩt do it in a serious way you donтАЩt get serious results.

Hence - a full fiscal quarter implacably pursued. No matter the response of the offending ad buyer stick to it. Involve Wall Street analysts. Demonstrate the power of American consumers. Do ALL the things including send buyers to HD competitors.

Become the new sheriff in town.

Wow that is interesting information!! We need more sharing of info like this. I live in Missouri where there is a fairly week Democratic Party, but there might be some folks in St. Louis which is heavily Democratic who could do something like this.

I agree. We all have power over what we buy and who we buy it from. Use that power to reduce support for this regime. And consider denying Facebook your activity. Families could make texting groups to share info and photos while skipping all the negative/hateful comments and propaganda.

It would great to see millions of people a week close their Facebook accounts. Not sure how much it would hurt Meta though. Of their over 3 billion active monthly accounts. 90% are outside the U.S. and Canada. On the other hand, we Americans seem to be the most active consumers in the world so maybe it would cause them enough pain to notice. We certainly have given Social Media companies their rise in wealth and influence.

Well said. The hard part of successful defeat of the right wing echo chamber is staying focused for a period of time. If we said тАЬHere - a list of 100 ad buyers to boycott тАЬ it just doesnтАЩt work in implementation. Knowing that companies are really people, and those people running big companies expect massive paychecks via bonuses we can make it real personal real fast by focusing on ONE company and executive suite and denying them their bonuses. Every other ad buyers will follow suit the moment word gets out on results.

Thanks for the ideas....I just made a comment asking for specific ideas and here are some!!! I love the idea of getting online influencers to post something everyday for a full quarter. I have no idea how to do that..I am not sure what or who an online influencer is. I already "boycott" just about every place except Walmart as that is the only store near me, and even there I pretty much buy things I consider necessities like food and oil for my car. I just don't have much money to spend so it's not a big decision for me. But I have stopped buying anything from Amazon and I used to get a lot of stuff from them (well not a lot, but birthday presents and things Walmart doesn't carry).

There must be a list, or can people in the know develop one of the billionaires who are funding Trump or financially benefitting from his corruption. This list could be used in ways to broadcast their names/companies to the public such as erecting huge billboards beside busy highways. This should ruffle a few feathers. Something to think about.

Things would become very interesting indeed if MTN could snag a legacy TV channel. A network that everyone with cable or satellite pays for, just like Fox. If MTN could do that they would IMO reach a far larger audience

Popock once worked in merger and acquisitions. The Soros family has been acquiring FCC licenses. CBS Redstone is for sale. Comcast is spinning off MSNBC. Leveraged buy outs.

There is an FCC bar. Lawyers who know this stuff coming and going.

Many billionaires would love to be involved. How about the Gates and Bezos ex-wives club?

AI A leveraged buyout (LBO) involves a company acquiring another using a significant amount of borrowed money, often financed by the target company's assets. The process typically involves identifying a target, conducting due diligence, securing financing, negotiating the deal, and executing the acquisition. The buyer aims to improve the target's operations and eventually sell it for a profit.

Many speculators are dreaming....

E.G. Paramount-Skydance Merger (2024):

Shari Redstone's family sold their controlling interest in Paramount Global to independent film studio Skydance Media in a merger agreement, effectively ending the Redstone family's decades-long stewardship of Paramount. This merger resulted in a corporation valued at approximately $28 billion. Skydance is a diversified media company founded by David Ellison in 2010 to create high quality, event-level entertainment for global audiences.
