This one part of the today's SCOTUS ruling should concern us all:
“The President enjoys no inherent authority to impose tariffs during peacetime.”
You do realize that we are talking about Trump, the man considering whether to declare WAR on Iran at this very moment! And IF a war would allow him to get his awful tariffs back, we all know this narcissistic man baby wouldn't bat an eye if war gets him what he most wants!
The only good news about war is that only congress holds the power to declare war. The bad news is, there are still too many maggots in congress. On another topic, does anyone know if Epstein is in fact dead? The reason I ask is because the cameras were out and the only video is of an orange figure going up the stairs to his cell block. And then there is the matter of the missing minute of video. Is it possible that he may have been sneaked out of the country? If not, who murdered him? I would love to know what you think or know about the investigation and the body. I don’t recall anyone saying anything about autopsy photographs or the condition of the body. I have always had a feeling that he isn’t really dead, but living in another country, maybe Russia. Thoughts?
As an Afghan veteran, I am honored to connect with you. I take great pride in my service, having stood shoulder-to-shoulder with U.S. forces under the harshest conditions in Afghanistan. However, my homeland eventually fell to terrorists
a collapse that felt less like a defeat and more like a hidden deal made in Qatar."
"For four years now, many of us loyal allies have been waiting in neighboring countries, following the promises made by the U.S. government for relocation. Today, those promises feel broken. I am now reaching out to American veterans and the American people: Please, be our voice. Tell your government not to abandon those who risked everything to defend U.S. national security. We stood by you; please stand by us now
Iranian leadership has had at least twenty years to think about how the US might attack them, and to come up with plans to respond and weapons and tactics designed specifically for a US military threat. Trump has sent a couple carrier task forces into the area, cruisers, destroyers, etc. but minesweepers? Hello-o-o!
Intelligence? All the best people have been sidelined or have resigned. Our military on the scene doesn't know what form an Iranian response will take so they cannot prepare for it. The smart thing would be for Congress to step in and stop this foolishness before it gets too big and violent to stop.
Thank you for this interesting and educational conversation. I see the potential war with Iran as another thoughtless attempt by DJT and Netanyahu to bully Iran into compliance. It will fail just like the attempt to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities. This is a very dangerous situation that needs to be shutdown ASAP.
We had the Kurds on the ground, they did the bleeding fighting ISIS. Trump and Erdogan threw the Kurds under the bus! Russians took over the former American presence.
Duh. When Trump doesn't attend daily intel briefs what does he know? He knows bullshit for his MAGA cult. More likely , he will use military strikes for deflection. He knows the People in this country are not happy with the obvious! Stupid is, as stupid does. Attacking your Allies, condemning Intel, and acting out of hubris is not in our security interests. Kushner is not an official of the US and Witkoff made a wad$$$ in the sell off of previously forbidden national security AI chips to UAE/China. Again we are trusting, a couple of frauds to represent a convicted fraud.
John Oliver And DHS: Lawless Law Enforcement Or Gestapo
As usual Oliver creates a powerful expose(https://bit.ly/4rlSAYk) of the lawfully created agency after 9/11 to shoddily run out of control agency that seriously needs urgent reform in light of the unlawful conduct of poorly trained ICE, CBP, and other law enforcement agencies pulled into the “law enforcement” to corral the “worst of the worst”
The Gestapo has broad authority while marauding American communities as witnessed by the people in Minneapolis including not needing judicial warrants if in public spaces thus rendering lack of due process a moot point But now even home invasions have been documented which is a crime even by standard law enforcement policy
The D’s in Congress are right in standing their ground against the Gestapo with broad reaching much needed reforms to how they carry out their “duties” Call your Congresspeople and support the ICE reforms and if D not give Cheeto an audience for the State of the Union(202.224.3121)
“The United States does not have a stellar track record with forced regime change or “managed” transitions, as the current chaos in Syria demonstrates. If we are to avoid unintended conflict, we must define what “victory” looks like beyond the explosion. Power without a diplomatic infrastructure is just noise, and in the Middle East, noise often leads to blood.”
“.. the credibility of US intelligence …”. Googling “credibility” brings us “the quality of being TRUSTED (caps added) and BELIEVED in”. That lying to the UN about non-existent Iraqi weapons of mass destruction pretty well torpedoed US credibility. A generation later, US flagellating the world with tariffs destroyed (past tense, sic) trust. Ergo 6-7.
Thanks Joe: A great guest. Very informative. The scary part about Trump & Hegseth is their macho attitude about using the military. They are like little boys playing with their toy soldiers. Right now the USA does not have anyone with diplomatic skills. It appears the US has a massive military complex with no diplomacy . One would think , you would send in your diplomats prior to amassing forces three miles off the coast of Iran.
According to Malcolm Nance and Jakob Kaarsbo last night, we will likely see an attack on Iran over the weekend. It may not be a small one.
We can bomb them all we want, but boots on the ground are needed for regime change (not that we're any good at it.) I wouldn't want to be one of those troops. Iran has a population of around 80,000,000 and it's a huge country. Can you imagine the asymmetrical war once the troops are there? 😱

yep. Thanks to Pres McPiggy, enablers and GOP, our global ability to gather intelligence is obliterated.

And they tore up the Obama agreement and screwed everything.
why is Jared Kushner involved in all these talks with foreign countries? He's not an elected official and hasn't been confirmed by the Senate.
key grift envoy, even though probably still can't pass security vetting

I really hope things don’t get kinetic.

I’ve always been absolutely terrified of this regime having these potential “ war “ powers
given their complete incompetence & seeming lack of any resistence domestically

Indeed. Please share!
This is Trump’s Hail Mary before the Mid terms.

So true.

Here goes the so-called "Peace President" again. How many wars in the last year? Three? Four? 🙄
