EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Pentagon Deputy Press Sec on Trump Defense Disasters

I’ve heard some wild excuses come out of Trump’s camp, but their latest defense of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth may take the cake. In my recent interview with Sabrina Singh, who served as Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary under President Biden, we broke down the jaw-dropping and ever-evolving scandal involving Hegseth leaking classified war plans over Signal chats—including sharing them with his wife, brother, and personal lawyer.

And here’s the kicker: while Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt cries about the “leakers,” even she admitted the information was highly sensitive. Meanwhile, Hegseth and Trump try to gaslight us, claiming it was all “informal coordination.” Really? Informal coordination about the exact timing of Tomahawk missile launches and fighter jet strikes?

You don’t have to take my word for it. Sabrina Singh has been in the trenches. She’s overseen these operations. She knows how this is supposed to work—and how it never works. As she told me, under normal circumstances, this kind of conduct would trigger immediate hearings, blanket media coverage, and calls for resignation. If this were Lloyd Austin or any Democratic official, Republicans would be frothing at the mouth.

But because it’s Trump’s guy? Crickets.

Sabrina laid it out plain: this wasn’t just a violation of protocol—it put American lives directly at risk. Sharing classified timelines before a mission doesn’t just undermine the mission—it gives adversaries like Russia or the Houthis a roadmap to kill American troops. Imagine the Houthis, tipped off hours ahead of time about U.S. airstrikes. They could reposition, bolster defenses, or worse, shoot down our pilots.

That’s not hypothetical. That’s the real-world danger of having reckless, unqualified people in charge of our national security.

And it gets worse: this wasn’t just one thread. Reports suggest there could be 20 different Signal threads discussing various operations. Twenty! How much more has been compromised?

To Sabrina—and to me—this isn’t a partisan issue. It’s about basic accountability and protecting the men and women who risk their lives for this country. If you’re a Republican lawmaker looking the other way right now, you’re complicit in this madness.

There have been a few voices speaking up. Rep. Don Bacon, a Republican, called for Hegseth to resign. But that’s not enough. Sabrina called for a full investigation—and she’s right. We need to know how deep this goes, how many operations were exposed, and what risks our service members now face because of this disgrace.

And if you’re wondering what our allies think? They’re terrified. Sabrina confirmed what we feared—this erodes trust. How can Canada, the UK, Australia, or our European allies trust that the U.S. will safeguard their military secrets if our Secretary of Defense is texting war plans like he’s setting up a dinner party?

Meanwhile, Trump and his goons treat our adversaries with kid gloves, while stabbing our allies in the back. It's disgraceful.

This isn’t just a scandal. It’s a five-alarm fire for national security. Pete Hegseth should resign. An investigation should begin immediately. And every American who cares about our troops should demand it.
