This week on The MeidasTouch Podcast, I sat down with Congressman Seth Moulton, a decorated Marine veteran and a member of Congress willing to speak bluntly about the authoritarian threat posed by Donald Trump.
We opened with Trump’s bizarre, short-lived appearance at the G7 summit in Alberta, where he lasted just 12 hours before bailing early to avoid meeting President Zelensky. Instead of strengthening alliances or coordinating with leaders on critical global security issues, Trump acted like a full-blown Kremlin mouthpiece, rambling about how the G7 should “really be the G8” and praising Putin at every turn.
As Congressman Moulton put it: “Trump sounded like a Kremlin spokesman. He genuinely prefers the company of dictators to our allies.” And it shows. Just after Trump's cozy call with Putin, Russia launched a brutal attack on Ukraine’s energy grid. Meanwhile, Trump posted unhinged “orders” telling 9 million people in Tehran to evacuate, like a wannabe general playing war on Truth Social.
We also discussed Trump’s repulsive “dictator parade” through Washington, D.C.—a $40 million taxpayer-funded embarrassment meant to glorify himself while co-opting the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. Congressman Moulton, who served multiple combat tours in Iraq, didn’t mince words: “The military hates parades,” adding, “If one leader, one political party controls the military, then you don't have a fair and equal democracy anymore.”
Even more alarming? Moulton shared that active-duty Marine officers are quietly discussing resigning their commissions. Why? Because they believe Trump’s latest orders may be unconstitutional. His advice: “Remember your oath.”
This isn’t hypothetical anymore. Trump is using the military as a political weapon, threatening American cities, spreading conspiracy-laced nonsense about “turning everyone trans,” and pushing the nation to the brink.
But we also talked about hope in the form of millions turning out for the No Kings protests across the country, including in small towns like Swampscott and Lynn, Massachusetts, where Moulton spoke.
Can we pause one moment to consider that this is just some of what happened in the last week alone?!
This moment demands all of us. We need courage. We need clarity. And we need to speak out every single day. So thank you for doing just that. Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for watching these interviews and sharing our videos.
