Trump once again failed to meet the moment and tone down the rhetoric. He embarrassed the country to the entire world. There not a single country that can take us seriously and rely on us to do good and we the moral authority in the world.

DJT made an utter fool of himself at the UN assembly. His entire incoherent rampage brought shame and humiliation on America. His remarks, his dimwitted claim that “Trump was right about everything” was the height of arrogance, self absorption and self-aggrandizement.

In fact, what the world witnessed at the UN yesterday was Delusional Donny on full display - A deranged, narcissistic madman’s condensed version in “how to win friends and influence people”. All he needed was a chainsaw, a blowtorch and a few canisters of teargas. And maybe a few MAGA red hats to toss at the audience.

The gravity of this moment in our history alarms me and deeply sadness me. Both. As if I weren’t already losing my friggin’ mind. He’s a monster!

The world is watching to see what we the people of the United States do to counteract what the current administration is doing to our country. The time for apathy is over. We must stand up and resist in every way we can. Call/write your congressional representatives, join a post card writing group, turn out for the protest on Oct 18th, make your voice heard. The world will hear us as well.

Agree. We must stand united and firm in our resolve to not allow this maniacal tyrant define who we are, even when we’re exhausted. And I suspect that countries around the globe can see clearly who DJT is and that a vast majority of Americans do not support him. In fact, the US secretary general made these remarks following trump’s tirade…

“In his speech, the UN secretary general, António Guterres, made a pitch for the UN’s continued relevance, but he acknowledged the pillars of peace and prosperity were buckling, and multilateralism was suffering. “Multipolarity without effective multilateral institutions courts chaos – as Europe learned the hard way resulting in world war one,” he said.

By the end of his speech he was left to comfort himself by insisting “we must never give up”.

“But the efforts to develop a strong anti-Trumpian alliance bringing together the global south and Europe has been weakened by the issue of double standards – the belief that Europe’s outrage with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is not matched by similar outrage at Israel’s destruction of Gaza.

“Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish prime minister, in a speech to 500 Columbia University students on Monday repeatedly warned his fellow Europeans to realise how much damage the double standards charge had caused to their image.

“Indeed Sánchez is rapidly becoming the European leader most willing to stand in Trump’s way. At Columbia, he drew applause defending the positive virtues of migration and said: “Open societies are the best antidote to fanaticism” – remarks that had a special relevance given Trump’s attempts to silence the Columbia campus protests.

“He added: “When the voice of a society is silenced, it ends up dying. Open societies thrive on words. Freedom of expression, of belief, the right to participate in public life empowers citizens. Losing the freedom to dissent is opening the door to tyranny”.

I just fished my NY Times newsletter, which I never read anymore, out of the trash to see how they handled it. It was the second story after his politicization of the Justice Department and demand that it manufacture charges against his "enemies" (arguably an equally important story) but it's reported in the blandest terms, like it was nothing really.

Yes. If EVERY news source that DJT has sued, would simply turned the table and IMMEDIATELY counter-sued Trump for defamation, harassment or malicious falsehoods, in proportion to his damage lawsuit against them, TACO would likely immediately back down.

Add Massie, delete Mace. Adelita makes no 218, the magic number.

I am sick of hearing what Republicans say in private...they are just trying to look good to whomever they are talking to...it's better to be seen as a coward than to show your true colors, that you support every single thing trump does and stands for. Massie is the only one with any "moral clarity" as Ben talked about and I don't know if it goes any further than the obvious right path of supporting victims of child sexual abuse. We need to start calling them out for the either cowards or reprobates they are.

I lived through at least three periods when Republicans did the same to us. My congressman in Pennsyltucky switched from Dem to R when oiffered committee assignments in 1982, and here in Baghdad By the Sea, 2 of our 3 MAGAT House members had once been Dems and switched allegiances.

We don't need them to switch parties -- just to stand up and observe their oaths. Check out those who say they want to talk. https://problemsolverscaucus.house.gov/

Good for you for finding an honest church that practices what it preaches!!! I am not a religious person but after watching the video from Alfred Street Church and the pastors speaking about charlie kirk and the reaction of the congregation I thought if I lived near there I'd be going to that church just to be around good people who are doing their best to follow the words of Jesus (and actually those of Muhammad and the teachings of Buddha). Please please please do all you can (and I have no idea what that could entail) to get the words and works of your church and similar churches "out there". I liked James Talarico's sermon where he talked about why beer is better than religion and he said you don't have to go door to door selling beer. I've always thought that people should seek out a faith because of the actions of the followers, not because someone knocks on the door and threatens them with going to hell if they don't repent and follow that church. There is so much news coverage of the white christian nationalists and let's face it, lots of people see through their cruelty (I mean goodness, rejoicing when anyone gets beat up....wow that's not very Christ like is it?) and I wish somehow more churches that truly support the words of Jesus would get more vocal and in the public's eye. This would be good for everybody, the folks that find a comforting home in the church and the recipients of the good deeds of the church members.

Trump's dementia was on full display at the UN meeting. His ideations of grandeur, the anger over everything, are all part of this condition. This administration castrated the Biden administration over the same thing. Biden was nothing like Trump, forgetful, yes, most people by this age are forgetful. Trump is dangerous because he has so many angry outbursts. He is not mentally fit to be the President. It is time to submit the articles of Impeachment again.

People with dementia may experience anger and aggression as a result of cognitive decline and the challenges it poses. Here are some common symptoms:

-Verbal aggression: Yelling, shouting, swearing, making threats

-Irritability and frustration: Easily becoming annoyed or upset over small things

-Delusions and hallucinations: Believing things that are not true, which can lead to anger

-Grandiose delusions in dementia are false beliefs of having superior qualities, importance, or powers, driven by underlying brain damage from the disease

Pat, you are correct. Trump is the puppet; the administration is pulling the strings. They know how to work DJT, they incite his behaviors. I'm afraid it's going to be a long road for the rest of us. Laws will need to be enacted in order to stop this from happening again. I'm concerned about midterms and the 2028 election. Pat Robinson's avatar

If he does indeed have dementia which so many real experts think he does (as well as so many regular people who have seen this in their own families) he may not think/know he is lying. He may actually believe everything he says...like that 300 million Americans died from drug overdoses last year...and we only had a population of 346 million..... He has said so many times that grocery prices are down with all the proof showing just the opposite that maybe he believes it in his dementia. Experts say that not being able to tell reality from fantasy/falsehoods is one of many indicators of dementia and maybe that is why he is able to lie so easily and so often. He obviously started out as a liar in all his business deals (and marriages considering his infidelity) but I don't know if in his early years he was as persistent as he is now. I don't think he was lying when he said he can grab a woman by her privates and there are no consequences or when he said Epstein was a very nice guy.... What gets me is that all the GOP members of congress support him and his lies and I don't think many or even any of them have dementia, so they have no excuse. I also wonder that in addition to being a sociopath if trump isn't somewhere on the autism spectrum...the way he simply cannot let go of something is sometimes a symptom of autism (which can make folks with that particular type of neurodivergence really great at research as they won't give up till they find an answer!).

I googled it...wow it's just awful..... Isn't it a shame that we have to fight over whether or not a proven medication like tylenol is safe and no one (or very few folks) are fighting to find cures (or at least relief) from conditions like what you suffer from. I believe there are answers. We are making so many advances in the field of medicine (well maybe not "we" in the US since the GOP does not believe in science or medicine, but "we"in the world) that there is a way to adjust the nervous system so it's back to normal. I recently read about a study where some patients have regained the ability to walk after being paralyzed and then having the spinal cord painted with stem cells (that's a bit of an oversimplification). That's a huge step in the right direction (no pun intended) and I think is an example of medical issues we can cure or treat better with more research. Sadly, "we" meaning the GOP Congress just choose to not put the resources where they need to be to find them, and instead the rest of us have to spend so much energy fighting trumpism.

I totally agree with the thanks for being the guiding light. I really don't know how great the lack of moral clarity is in our nation. It is for sure what mainstream media reports on and fosters by normalizing, but I wonder if the everyday man/woman on the street really embraces the immorality of the trump administration and the entire GOP Congress. On a one to one basis, I don't think most Americans would steal your wallet yet all the maga folks are fine with trump et all stealing all they can...most Americans, even maga folks, really do not support the sexual abuse of kids or anyone, but they are fine with trump doing it...most Americans, not even maga folks would not beat up a person of color just because of their skin color, but they support ICE doing it, most Americans would like to see rich people treated the same as they are in the justice system, but they are fine with trump violating every law and every part of the Constitution he feels like violating. I don't know what that says about the moral clarity of our nation. But I do think it past time that those of us who believe in the rule of law, in not beating up people, not stealing and so on, that it is not ok for us to do these things, for our neighbors to do these things or for trump and the GOP Congress to do to stand up for moral clarity.
