But thank God my daughter suggested MTN and now I’m more relaxed and can understand the truth of what is going on🥰💯

‼️ 💯 ‼️ those old white men are bought and paid for too! Schmer, Jeffries and their ilk are all in for the money. We need term limits and finance reform!

I cannot agree that Mr. Schumer and Mr. Jeffries are "in it for the money". That would be the GOP.

Schumer is just too old and still expects our legislature to work like it did 20+ yrs. ago. He needs to step down from leadership and make way for someone truly dynamic.

Possibly Schumer has played both sides for years and just can't get on board with the need to really fight for decency. Old habits die hard.

In 1995 SCOTUS stated that no state could term limit members of Congress. Their reasoning was that a mechanism(voting)to accomplish that already exists

SCOTUS is not Wise much as they want to be seen that way. They are mired in legalese and do not see issues the way the public does.

Don’t relax today Phyllis. Read MaryTrump.org article, THE LAST STAND for details and call or write Schumer’s office and every dem or Repub with a brain. The continuing resolution will make the chaos legal. Schumer.senate.gov has lots of ways to contact him. Call Capitol Hill switchboard 202-224-3121 but I bet it will be playing music so call his dc office 202-224-6542 or a local office listed on the website.

I was thinking the same thing. Schumer and Dems like him have had their time. They aren't willing to do what has to be done. They need to either brush the dust off and step up, or step down and let the real fighters take over. Their old, tired ways just won't cut it in these extremely tumultuous and dangerous times. I totally agree...I NEED to hear about folks doing something positive and no one except MTN reports on it. I did get an email from Tim Walz about his plans for doing a town hall in Iowa. It just seems to me that not even elected Democrats care enough about democracy or the environment or our health or anything (that is not true, there are lots of them who do care for sure). I was/am discouraged that the folks that maga will/has hurt most, persons of color, lower middle class folks like teachers, did not care enough to even vote and now they seem to be doing nothing to impact what the gop is allowing trump to do via musk (or maybe it's what musk is just doing through trump). Why should I even bother????I have donated more than I should, money I could use for other things (lie something besides peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch every day) and it seems it's all for nothing. And then I open MTN comments and I do find some hope, or at least encouragement to continue even if it's a losing battle, but maybe even though we lose this battle, maybe in the long run, past my lifetime we will win the war. But it's hard when folks you thought were on the right side, meaning elected democrats are not. But I don't know of any resistance movement in the history of resistance movements anywhere ever that were easy. But I also don't know of any that were successful when the folks involved gave up. So we have to hang in there and work harder in whatever way we can. And we need to lift each other up, so I for sure am not abandoning you!!! We're in this together!

By the way I love the idea of Walz going around the Midwest and trying to rebuild the Midwest Dems!

Expand full comment
Pat Robinson's avatar

Me too!!! I think it takes all kinds to have a successful political party that serves the citizens and to me Walz is sort of a combination civics teacher, little bit fiery preacher (maybe that's from the coaching stuff?) and your favorite guy in the neighborhood to go to if you need something fixed. My civics teacher created a desire in me to make the world a better place, and my Sunday School teachers taught me that kindness and loving one another is the right approach to life, but words without actions are meaningless, and he sure has gotten stuff done in his state!

Susan Klemetsen's avatar

Tim Walz is going nationwide. He's going to visit the areas where Republicans aren't giving town halls.

Expand full comment
Danny Barlow's avatar

Well I was pretty disappointed with Walz during the presidential run... Not sure why he was dead silent after the convention but I'll get behind anyone standing up right now.

Expand full comment
Pat Robinson's avatar

I honestly don't know if he was dead silent or if the mainstream media just would not cover anything he did or said! I appreciated his most recent speech. I appreciate both his style and content when he speaks and based on the few speeches/interviews I've seen with him, he really does practice what he preaches...he understands what Midwesterners need and he has a good track record of getting it for them in his own state. And to be honest, I just like listening to him talk...he's both down to earth and fired up about injustice and stupidity in the government.

Except Walz lies, just like other politicians. Not as much, for sure, but he lies all the same and got caught out during the campaign.

Excellent advice for anyone not already following them! I've been following Robert Reich on fb for years but just started following the others on you tube a few months ago. I agree with you and highly recommend them to everyone! I also sort of follow Jessica Craven. I am not a paid subscriber to her Substack but I get her emails and she does a great job of doing a round up of good things that happened during the week every Sunday. A lot of the wins are at the state level (which for better or worse is where the wins will be, there and in court) and I'd n ever hear about them if I didn't get her info.
