It’s sad. So sad! We are the world’s wealthiest country. We just increased taxes on and stripped benefits from the poor—all to feed the WEALTHY. Uncaringly ruthless Republicans, bought off by the WEALTHY, have an agenda of pain and suffering for the poor, the needy, the sinking middle class. For heaven’s sake, give heathcare, childcare, food assistance, and LIVING wages to everyone. Charge the total cost to the WEALTHY billionaires. They cannot be satisfied, and need their greedy asses kicked for this carnage. They are funding the ruthlessness; they are gouging and gorging. To what purpose is their $ billions? Hoarding alone. Outlaw this hoarding! They cannot spend it all, yet they fund tax cuts only for themselves. Sound about right to you? I made protest signs for your upcoming protests. Protesting is now critical for Occupied D.C. We must fill the streets! There is just enough time to get signs printed for your protest group. Fill the hands of the signless with signs…or hoagies. Where are your signs? It is time to post them so that others can use them. FreeDC!

It’s more than sad it’s tragic. As an outsider looking in from France I just find it beyond belief that the American people voted for a man so seriously flawed, lacking intelligence and clearly insane. Surely now there has to be some mechanism for getting rid of him.

I think so too Marsha. I hope the investigations now underway reveal that. America has failed, spectacularly, to supervise their elections and electoral process, allowing voter suppression and gerrymandering that is shocking to other democracies, and failing to verify the accuracy of vote counts.

The problem here is rooted in their lack of intelligent campaign finance laws.

My guess is that those in their right minds (ie: anti-Maga) did not vote this felon and sex offender in while those NOT in their right minds (ie: Maga) did. It boggles the mind that anyone could sink so flippin' incredibly low, yet.... Yes, sad/tragic/pathetic beyond belief.

Not fast enough, not big enough and not loud enough from elected Democrats. We need more Jasmine's, more Bernie's more AOC's and definitely more Newson's. We can't do all the heavy lifting ourselves. We need our elected officials to start carrying some of the load. After all, isn't that what we elected them for?

Suzanne, same here in Canada, where we nearly elected a similarly flawed man, but came to our senses in time.

There is a mechanism for dethroning an incompetent president in America, but alas it has been bought. That mechanism is Congress and impeachment followed by conviction, but Republicans in Congress are in cahoots with this administration.

The Supreme Court could also sanction the president, but again, they are in cahoots and unbelievably passed a presidential immunity from the law provision...adding fuel to a burning dumpster fire.

I'm not one to embrace conspiracy theories, but I firmly believe the 2024 election was rigged. Somehow votes got lost or tossed out. People got removed from the voting lists. Trump told us if we voted for him we'd never have to vote again. Someone figured out how to be sure he won. Now we have the hard work of trying to be sure the next election is fair and honest. Many of us are resisting in any way we can.

What has, and continues to transpire here is not only shocking, but abhorrent, not to mention heartbreaking. Trump has, since birth I believe, been a liar and cheat. He's a narcissistic con man who still manages to trick people into thinking that only he can protect us. But, who is protecting US AGAINST HIM?? Nobody! I believe he cheated to become President the 1st term and cheated again to get into office this time. He's already talking about a third term. Can you imagine? He's a horrible human being. His followers are like sheep... no offense to sheep. (Actually, I think sheep are smarter) Trumps maga followers don't use their brains at all and appear to be incapable of visualizing the future. The Meidas Mighty and Everyone in this country should read Heather Cox Richardson’s Substack for the proof of how the Republican Party, since Nixon, has been determined to take over our country and our democracy. She gives the history of how we got Trump. It’s up to the Democrats and the good people of America to kill the fascist overthrow before they totally corrupt our government and the country. It’s time for the Country’s Patriots to the Constitution to take back their Government and their freedoms before we lose them forever.
