I remember my husband having a conference in LA and us spending a day at Disneyland because someone had told our young daughter, I think she was 3, about it. It was a super expensive day. The lines were horrendously long and so I would go on a ride with her while my husband would go get in line for the next ride, and then he would go on that ride with her until the next ride where I was in line. After about an hour of doing that, we decided to ride "It's A Small World" as the only ride and just all waited in line and went on it. I was grateful that she did not want anything in the gift shop, so my husband got a t-shirt that says, "This is what Dopey Looks Like" and then his head is above it. That shirt is ragged by now, but still beloved. Our daughter has absolutely no recollection of that experience. I hope your experience is more memorable. It helps that you are taking pictures. We did not.

You’ll never convince me that IASW is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s favorite song, as he claimed in the infomercial for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary! He wanted to become a better songwriter than the Sherman brothers (he did), and more played than “Small World” (he’s getting there).

Emperor Cheeto Of The Western Hemisphere

Questions ask why the US is involved in Venezuela? Cheeto ran a campaign counter to such an invasion of countries but of course he lied about so many promises since he wanted to stay out of jail

Despite the fact that Venezuela has the world's largest proven oil reserves the type of oil that the country brings out of the ground is a dirty petroleum product because it requires many many steps to get a marketable product Venezuelan oil accounts for only 1% of the overall global oil production

So if it’s not about a valuable oil product, then is the US military Venezuelan capture of an awful tyrant like Maduro the real reason for this US military action? Maybe but corruption, power, and money always are the motivating factors for Cheeto who desires to be tough guy strongman who can become the bully of countries in the Western hemisphere It sets the tone to all other Western hemisphere countries

In the end there are many reasons Emperor Cheeto decided to arrest a fellow dictator He’s an impulsive malignant narcissist with loyalists willing to do his bidding and oil which is a gift to the American oil industry and its campaign donors is another piece of this bizarro puzzle Then there’s the Nobel Peace Prize Venezuelan activist who Cheeto flipped off when she offered the US help Polling numbers suck and health insurance costs are going up for millions And the action does serve as a great distraction from the haunting Epstein files and the news networks are swallowing the bait

Interesting comment about the "dirty" oil...I did not know that. And I don't know how fast trump can act to stop the rest of the world, including China from switching to renewable fuels. China's electric vehicle just became the best selling EV in the world and I think China has made a lot of progress in solar energy (as per AI, Yes, China has exceptionally large solar farms, dominating the global landscape with projects like the massive Talatan Solar Park on the Tibetan Plateau, which is the world's largest, alongside vast desert installations and innovative floating farms on former coal mine lakes, showcasing an unmatched scale in solar development to meet energy needs and climate goals.). And China has a lot of consumers...they are not going to give up their non fossil fuels usage to become dependent on the US (or any other oil producing nation). Portugal is another example of how nations are moving away from fossil fuels (again, from AI, "Portugal heavily uses non-fossil fuels, relying on wind, hydro, solar, and biomass for a significant portion of its electricity, even achieving periods of 100% renewable power"..but they do still rely a lot on fossil fuel but are moving away from it). It will be interesting to see what Americans do as they are prevented from using renewable energy and have to pay more and more for any kind of energy from heating their homes to powering their vehicles. Thank you for sharing that info about the oil

I hope your info from AI is accurate. If so, this is useful to know. Thanks.

Ben, I’m kinda surprised you chose to spend some relaxing (?) time with your lovely fam at a place like Disneyland. I hope your baby has some wonderful memories of your time together when she’s older. And I hope you were able to recharge and find some peaceful moments.

I went on It’s a Small World at the 1964 World’s Fair in NY. I was 7 years old, and I still remember it. After the world’s fair they moved the ride to Disneyland. Enjoy!

Me too. I thought I saw it there also. I was 8 and went once. My older sister and brother went many times. Used to be able to see it all lit up at night from my Aunt''s dining room window in Rego Park. The Unisphere...the lights. It was magical. I didn't understand then why they wouldn't leave.it up forever. My father wanted to see all the futuristic stuff like the phones with the tv screens, the cars, futuristic house...I wanted It's a Small.World. And a.belgian waffle. 🤗

We lived close by (in Brooklyn) and went every weekend, saw EVERYTHING. And yes, my dad was really into the futuristic stuff. There were amazing exhibits, and of course, the whole place smelled like Belgian waffles.

Nice to know there are plenty of other fossils around. . . I was in high school in 1964 in Connecticut, and loved that Worlds Fair too. Saw IASW there and later at Disney. Funny how I liked the jingle so much more the first time around…

You're so lucky! I have found several YT videos over the years that I was able.to download at the time. I think a DVD and then a couple of books. The only thing else I remember was the "Coppertone" pavillion or exhibit, with the mirrors that made me look golden tan. Have you ever seen what the Unisphere looks like now? It's out of a dystopian futuristic thriller. It's all decaying and decrepit and scary. Like our world.
