It’s funny how the political atmosphere influences the lens one sees this show through. My husband and I first saw Wicked on Broadway in 2011. The message was there but it didn’t slap you in the face. I saw it two more times, the second time at the end of the Obama presidency and the third time during trump’s. The difference was stark. The message that “isn’t there” when the world is more or less right hits you between the eyes as it really did when I saw the movie last week. Just amazing!
