I just have to say how much I enjoy the style of writing in these pieces. I’m not just informed but entertained. Thank you!

I am right there with you! I'm starting to get inspired about the writing career I've always wanted to have.

I like the style of writing, also. The flow and the originality of word choice.

I totally, totally agree, Cynthia!

Oh, I just said the same thing. Lol

"Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson parroted the same line, declaring this “the most talented and impressive Administration in history.” The kind of statement that makes you wonder whether these people go home at night, stare at themselves in the mirror, and whisper, “This is fine. Everything’s fine.”"

Loved it. Has to be true. When you are on the inside it is harder to hide from reality. They see the choices being made. They hear the facts being dismissed, covered up, buried in real time. Even if they sought power for power's sake, their personal long term career choices are feeling worse every day, realizing that despite Trump's 'hints' he will not be president forever. Eventually they will leave the Trump 'bubble' or the bubble will itself be burst and eventually they will be exposed to the consequences of their choices.

Douglas, you quoted my favourite part of Michael’s article. Too funny. And the rest of your commentary is spot on. 🇨🇦

He should have to pay out of his salary n or pocket! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Let us first focus on getting the whole pack of them out of office. Until we do it will be very hard to hold them truly accountable.

Present company not included...this is what Americans wanted. This is what Americans voted into the white house. America chose evil over rational. The American people are getting what they deserve, and unless this mistake is corrected by way of the American people supporting a revocation of this presidency...our relationship with our allies will be ruined indefinitely. We will be treated like a big retarded kid with a big stick, indefinitely. And if any feel offended by my use of the word "retarded"...just know that the offense I feel for the electorate that ultimately put this Confederacy of Lowlifes and Dunces into the whitehouse is magnified 1000%. A permanent taste of vomit in my mouth. USA! USA! USA!

Connie Larsen's avatar

You couldn’t have said it better! Many of us feel the same way!

And his fing golfing! 🤬🤬🤬💩

Lesta B's avatar

Not everyone. Please DO NOT lump every American voter in this generalized statement. Only maggots wanted him as president & they saw to it to make it happen. All part of their project 2025 scheme. And look how well it's turning out for all of us (sarcasm).

Bob D's avatar

Trump won the majority vote. Please DO NOT, do not me. Frothy emotional appeal is childish. Most countries would not disagree with the prospect of most Americans being lazy and stupid. And neither do I.

Lesta B's avatar

First I'm saying this is absolutely NOT what everyone in the United States. So DO NOT include all Americans. Frothy emotionsl appeal. FU. I was being condiderate which evidently you don't seem to comprehend. It's people like you who make our country NOT GREAT. Let me put this in simpler words that do not pack any frothy emotional appeal don't fucking put everyone in your neat little box. Kindness can go a long way. Definitely something you know nothing about. You're nothing more than a keyboard warrior. Take your frothy emotional appeal bs & shove it!!!

Bob D's avatar

You're kidding...right?

Roberta Houle's avatar

Michael. Thanks for the laughs and images of the inner workings in trump’s world. You make us feel like we’re there, experiencing this with you. I always enjoy your writing.

Michael. The UK here. Another searing commentary borne out of long, bitter, closely-lived experience, which you now turned into pure, distilled observation. Thank you for your illuminating contributions in these challenging times.

Never occurs to egomaniacs,

that when hired for role you have ZERO competency for...

your failure will be both monumental in damage & global news in scale of negativity.

THIS is what Republicans want to be known for. Bizarre.

Janet Wilson's avatar

True, but the entire "cabinet" knows full well no one but Trump would EVER offer them positions like these. For all of them, this will be the high water mark of their sorry careers. No matter what happens, they will hold on to that and blame shadowy others for their fall.

Republicans in Congress, OTOH, voted for these fools, knowing full well they were not only incompetent but dangerous.

Kevin Hassett: The Smirking Face of Economic Nonsense

Richard Wright

Nov 26, 2025

There are bad economists, there are delusional economists, and then there is Kevin Hassett, the man who somehow fails upward, smirks through catastrophe, and still manages to be trotted out as if he has a shred of credibility left after a career that reads like a cautionary tale in financial mysticism.

This is the guy who co-wrote Dow 36,000, the book so catastrophically wrong it should come with a warning label.

When the dot-com bubble burst, he didn’t retreat.

He doubled down.

He urged people to buy more.

If your financial advisor did that, you’d sue them.

If your friend did that, you’d stage an intervention.

But Hassett? No consequences.

He gets promoted.

He floats around Washington like a helium balloon someone forgot to tie down, always upbeat, always confident, always disastrously wrong.

After a career like this, it reads like the occult science of being confidently, smirkingly wrong.

And it’s not just that he’s wrong, it’s that F-ing smirk.

That smug, self-satisfied curl of the lip that says, I know better,

even when history, math, and reality are screaming otherwise.

It’s the kind of smirk that makes decent people want to slap it off his puss.

Dow (1999)

Predicted the Dow would triple within a few years.

The market immediately imploded.

Investors lost trillions.

Hassett smirked and doubled down.

2017 Trump Tax Cuts

Promised they would pay for themselves.

They didn’t.

Blew a $2 trillion hole in the budget.

Corporate stock buybacks soared; wages barely budged.

Hassett smirked.

Pandemic Economics

Presented death charts that looked like a child’s doodles.

trump called him one of my favorite people.

Economists called him comically unqualified.

Hassett smirked.

Personal Credibility

None.

Zero.

Negative.

But he still smirks.

Hassett is the perfect clown for the trump ecosystem: loyal, submissively optimistic, and completely disconnected from reality. That ever-present smirk? The logo of his incompetence. His nose is so far up Trump’s ass, it’s practically transplanting his brain.

trump is no longer trump

This version is a man slipping into open, visible cognitive collapse.

He can’t finish thoughts, mixes up names, confuses countries, and drifts mid-sentence into nonsense.

Trump wanted Senator Mark Kelly, the former fighter pilot and astronaut, one of the most dignified and deeply respected members of the Senate, who, along with other retired military leaders, made a video urging service members not to obey unlawful orders. Hassett, as usual, probably forgot to mention the word unlawful to trump, leaving him to stumble into the Oval Office like a kid who missed the instructions entirely.

Enter Zohran Mamdani: Trump’s Latest Teenage Meltdown

Look at New York’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani.

Trump spent months calling him every name in the book: radical, communist, dangerous, America-hater. Then Mamdani walked into the White House.

What happened?

The tough-guy act dissolved instantly. TACO!

Trump turned into a teenager drowning in hormones:

Awkward shoulder squeezing

Lingering, needy hugs

A grin stretched to breaking

Gushing praise

Nervous giggling

Physical clinginess that made viewers recoil

It was humiliating, pathetic, and vintage trump, all bluster in public, all neediness in person.

Peter Navarro: The Convicted Architect of Tariff Chaos

And then there’s Peter Navarro, the economist whose work belongs in the DSM rather than the Harvard Library.

Designed tariffs that raised prices for U.S. families

Claimed trade wars were easy to win.

They weren’t

Convicted of criminal contempt of Congress

Served time

Still appears on Fox in jittery, manic tirades

Speaks like a man locked in an argument with imaginary enemies

Navarro is not merely misguided; he is clearly off.

Yet he was one of Trump’s most trusted advisers.

MY TAKE

Kevin Hassett is not dangerous because he’s wrong.

He’s dangerous because he smirks while being wrong, and because Trump, in his current downward spiral, clings to anyone who flatters him.

Trump is collapsing mentally and emotionally.

His advisers?

A collection of smirking yes-men, sycophantic ass kissers, economic arsonists, and convicted zealots.

Hassett, Navarro, and their entire circle of sycophants aren’t just bad economists; they’re enablers of a man losing his grip on reality.

A democracy can survive a fool.

It cannot survive a fool surrounded by believers.

And Kevin Hassett is the believer-in-chief, the smirk on the face of a presidency imploding in real time. Disgusting, infuriating, hilarious, but dangerous.
