They’re certainly arrogant enough to assume they can, especially now that they think mother Russia and Kim Jong-un are on their side. What strange bedfellows!

The Cybertruck has been a product quality nightmare since its introduction, but a brand loyalty dream come true.
Regardless of all the recalls or safety problems or other aspects of poor design & construction (including Tesla's "self-driving" technology that can't tell the difference between a painting of a road and a real road), people seem to just want it.
It doesn't seem to be a rational thing, but entirely emotional.
Maybe they want to show how much money they can waste on such an expensive piece of junk.
Maybe they want to intimidate other drivers who don't want to be hit by huge swaths of steel plate flying off into highway traffic.
Maybe they want to imagine themselves as starring in some post-apocalyptic action movie.
Maybe they want to overcome some unacknowledged personal insecurities. (Of course, this has always been a huge motivation for lots of people to buy lots of things.)
And these days, it seems that MAGA-heads love this thing simply because everyone else hates it -- though the only way many of them could afford it is if they pooled their rapidly dwindling resources to buy one as a group.
Hey Maxgal. I really appreciate the thoughtful take! You bring up some interesting points, and I definitely want to give this a proper response. It’s super late on my end, but I’ll be diving into this in the morning—looking forward to discussing!

Absolutely. That’s the only way this will work - us being together and unified as one. Infighting and bickering amongst ourselves only serves Trump and MAGA.
Now that doge has its own armed brown shirts, breaking into buildings to shut down agencies, I think the next place we have to look in terms of protecting members of the resistance, is to support federal judges, and escort them to and from their court rooms. I’ve worked with human rights defenders from Pakistan, India and Iran and I know that the assault on judges is probably what comes next. The problem is I do not have enough money to subscribe to the people who need to hear this because I am just a little person a human rights defender now struggling with health issues. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be of help in organizing These small units of people prepared to defend our judges so that we can continue to strengthen the law of this country, which seems to be the only thing working against this takeover in progress thank you very much. My name is Carole Fontaine. I am a American member of the NCRI the national council of resistance in Iran and I work with women organizers there the person you wanna talk to is Soona; these folks have offices in Arlington and Washington DC, and we have provided back up for many kinds of protest in Europe and elsewhere. We have also given information sessions at the house of representative at etc.. These are the people I would think of if I wanted to field a group willing to engage in protection of absolutely critical people for bringing about a change to democracy. Thanks for listening.
The Purpose of Censorship (to gag us to prevent alarm sounding as they drag us away)
Give up your free speech at your peril. Once they are able to silence you, the game is over. The loss of all of your other freedoms will follow shortly after. Anyone that advocates to censor you, or to unmask your anonymity is your adversary. Treat them like one - no matter what else they say.
But why is it so vital and necessary for the combined monolithic apparatus of government, corporations, and NGOs, to brute force censor everyone while decimating the careers and reputations of the dissenters? Here is why:
The reason the First Amendment is prime directive order 1, is because it is the most important freedom we have for the same reason it is the first target an adversary subverts, disrupts, and destroys during a crime, a war, or a takeover—preventing a target from assembling, communicating, and organizing a response to an assault grants an enormous advantage to the aggressors.
The Second Amendment is second because it is the remedy for anyone trying to subvert the First.
With all respect, that doesn't make sense. Why would anyone defend the "right" to yell "fire" in a packed theater knowing that that will cause a stampede and people will die?
Words are not merely soundbites or (impulsive or well-thought-through) expressions of personal feelings. Words DO something to the world around you. So the limit to free speech is clear: if it literally kills people, it SHOULD be censored, obviously. If not you're advocating murder. A society where murder is legal is NOT a free society, for sure.
Also, we vitally NEED the government to unmask anonymity once you've committed a violent crime, so that we can apply the law and punish you. Or would you like mass murderers to continue to post anonymously in such a way that we cannot easily find and jail them... ?
Finally, I'm sorry to see that you still believe that the last global pandemic was fake. But it you continue to believe it so many years later, after years and years of scientific proof, I presume there's nothing I could say here that would make you pause and think, so let's leave covid aside and focus on my main argument: speech that leads to death SHOULD be censored. Any counterarguments?
Maybe I might help with this: I had covid twice during the pandemic period, even though I was fully vaccinated. But the course of the disease was milder due to my partial immunity. Without the vaccines I might have died, as I fall into one of the at-risk groups. Covid was real and I had the nasal swabs to prove it.
That's demonstrably false. I presume that's why you didn't even try to refute my arguments? Also, the idea that the first Amendment would supersede anything else in the Constitution is not part of what the Founding Fathers claimed or intended - precisely because there are no real counterarguments against what I just wrote.
A democracy is a government not only BY the people but also FOR the people. That's why no one has unlimited freedom. If you say things that will kill me, I'm sorry, but any government that would make that legal would not be doing its basic job of guaranteeing each individual citizen's basic security.
The main difference between democracy and fascism, when it comes to censorship, is not that democracy would never ever censor anything. It's WHAT is censored and HOW it is done that is entirely different. In a fascist regime, anything that taints the reputation of the leader and the governing party is censored, whether it is true or false. In a democratic regime, anything that is both demonstrably, objectively false AND endangers the lives of ordinary citizens is censored, at least during the most risky moments (today, for instance, you can easily spread covid conspiracy theories everywhere, since doing so won't lead to millions of additional deaths anymore, contrary to what was DEMONSTRABLY the case during the height of the pandemic; and it's a good thing that you can tell us that you still believe that those conspiracy theories are true because we vitally NEED a public debate about it as long as there is still one citizen believing in them. But we cannot possibly have any doubts linger at a moment when doubt itself is lethal. Whenever that's the case, democracy's first job to protect ALL lives supersedes free speech).
Yes, of course. But that doesn't mean that the First Amendment would somehow have a meaning that is entirely disconnected from all other parts of the Constitution or Bill of Rights. So again, what are you arguments PRO a form of government that would make it legal for citizens to say things that would directly and demonstrably lead to the death of fellow citizens? Any idea?
Free speech from Donald Trump led to the J6 insurrection. He hid, watching it all unfold and did absolutely nothing to stop it. Even the leaders of the J6 insurrection admitted in court that they believed that’s what Trump was telling them to do was destroy the Capital building and kill people. So you see out of the insurrectionists own mouths free speech is dangerous!
Vile at a level we have not experienced. Thank you Ben, Jordi and Brett for your dedication to our cause. Thank you for your leadership. We walk with you always. Defeat the enemy of the people!!
Anyone that talks like that screams insecure in their own masculinity. It’s actually embarrassing. We all know they would never say it to anyone in real life. They’re the keyboard warriors that they used to claim we were. As always seems to be the case with these fucking morons, it’s projection, projection, projection.
Thank you, Romana! I am glad to hear that others, like yourself, agree. It’s a blessing having a space like this with so many like-minded individuals. You’re on the money - it’s the same old ineffectual talk points - and I’m getting pretty fucking bored with it. I can only hope that others are too, and from what I’m seeing, it’s not just you and I.
I'm SO sick of them. They literally use talking points from 2016 that we used against Trump. Think we can't remember that . Also, when they insinuate that we just sit and cry allday, obsessed over Jabba the Hutt. Ok. They need to go touch grass. Get some air. Or just pay attention for God sake.
Absolutely! They’re the emotional and irrational ones, not us. Plus, I’ve never seen a group get more offended quicker than them. For me, that renders any of their points redundant.
The inherent homoeroticism in almost all forms of fascism indeed comes from a deep insecurity about gender. We can ridicule it, or we can try to understand where it comes from and think about how to truly help these insecure men.
Fact is, many "DEI trainings" (I'm talking about trainings, not all the measures taken to guarantee equal treatment of all, or having a diverse work floor etc.) tend to accuse "white men" IN GENERAL of being responsible for all the crimes OTHER white men ever committed, and ask them to take responsibility for people's negative emotions as soon as the person experiencing them belongs to a minority or is a women and WANT to blame them for having that emotion. And if there is a misunderstanding (the minority person misunderstood the meaning or intention behind a white man's words), those trainings tell white men (and often white straight people in general) to shut up because trying to bridge the gap by reformulating so that the other can truly understand what they mean is ALSO rejected as "violent speech".
Now, imagine that you were a teenager in the 2010s, almost only knew Trump as "role model" president, AND grew up in (or got caught up in) the GOP ecosystem that proposes a highly toxic version of masculinity. What will you go with? The world that tells you to feel guilty all the time and doesn't want to listen to you, or the world that tells you to be violent and a bully?
This is why DEI was such a key theme of the elections. Unfortunately, with Harris only having three months to campaign, there was no time to have a real debate, ON THE LEFT, about whether or not these DEI experiments were actually a good idea. So these men felt once again ignored, after GOP ads brought up the theme again and again.
Imho, it means that we now urgently need to have a serious discussion about the flaws of those DEI trainings. And as far as I'm concerned, they're so big that we better give them up altogether and go back to second-generation anti-racism (and anti-social justice, an aspect that almost entirely disappeared from DEI trainings), as proposed by the Civil Rights movement and MLK Jr.
I appreciate your thought-out response and the time you’ve taken to share it. I will respond to this in full later when I have the opportunity to actually give it the time it deserve. What I will say is that I grew up as a teenager in the 2010s, so I do not accept that as an excuse. Not for a minute. It explains certain aspects, but it is by no means an excuse.
Imho that's precisely the problem: obviously, all violence needs to be condemned, but that's never enough. THE question is always: how to prevent FUTURE violence? And that's where moral judgment is an extremely weak, often inefficient and quite frequently counterproductive approach. MLK Jr. proposed something very different and pretty radical: LEARN TO LOVE YOUR ENEMIES.
That means: assume that they are inherently as good as you are, as a person, but that circumstances and what life gave them made them experience more and more hatred, without any tools to work constructively with those feelings. Once you frame it in this way, a solution becomes conceivable: HELP them deal with those disturbing emotions in a better way, rather than telling them that they're such bad people (which only reinforces their toxic and by definition false identifications).
Do we know how to work with difficult emotions? Yes, today's that's called "emotional intelligence training". The good news? It helps BOTH perpetrator and victims, and in the same way. It empowers victims to no longer be at the mercy of the external world so much anymore, and it empowers perpetrators because (often for the very first time in the life) somehow shows them that they ARE lovable, even with their negative emotions - and then shows them how to work with them rather than either suppressing them or acting out.
Also quite rich to hear things like “you lost” and “get over it” from people who spent the last 4 years crying like whiny little bitches about a “stolen election” because their fragile petulant cult leader couldn’t and wouldn’t accept that “he lost” and couldn’t “get over it.” These dipshits are sub-human warts on the ass of society.
They do this all the time. Because they have nothing of substance to discuss and are only able to spout talking points from Fox. I get this all the time if I venture onto one of the town websites where I live. I have learned to expect it, to largely ignore it, and walk away from it all periodically. Sad to think that there are so many out there who think this is what a civilized person does. Referring to their mother, as, "Your mother would love to see this post." doesn't do anything. I stopped using that. The only thing that gets to them I've found so far is to accuse them of being incel.
Wow, what class these people have. Keep killing it Meidas. Their time is limited. Rachel Maddow had a segment on with Trumpers wondering what can be done to put him in jail. They feel duped!
I listened to that segment yesterday. My impression that the tRUMP voters interviewed had not listened to a variety of You Tube videos, podcasts, etc., or had just voted for him because of his promises. Many of the people interviewed said he was doing the opposite of what he said he would do in his campaign speeches.(duh)
The other part of Rachel Maddow's program was also interesting. She cited statistics from a very recent poll that stated where the American people were on the war against Ukraine vs.
tRUMP. 84% of Americans have a negative view of Putin and 61% sympathize more with Ukraine over Russia (2%). I don't think that is how tRUMP wants to view it....
**When the opposition attacks openly, but produces ZERO SUBSTANCE IN THOSE ATTACKS, PREFERRING BY THEIR CHOICE OF VERBAGE TO DEMEAN CHARACTER & LAUNCH PERSONAL VULGAR NONSENSE, YOU HAVE THE ABSOLUTE BEST CONFIRMATION THAT YOU'RE ON THE CORRECT PATH....& THEY KNOW IT!!!**
Yes Ben and brothers, we have your back. I’m so happy when I see you are number one and beating all the nut cases out there. Stay safe and keep up the good fight! By the way, you have been killing it with the videos this week!
I am so happy that you guys are unbothered by the BULLIES OF MAGA. While they show weakness you prove over and over how strong you are. Keep u the GOOD TROUBLE and the GOOD FIGHT 💪🏽💪🏽
We’ve all got your back! Stay strong, stay safe, and keep fighting the good fight 👊 ✌️
As always, everything they are doing reeks of desperation. They know the tide is turning, slowly but surely. Perhaps not so slowly anymore! An avalanche might be a more apt analogy, and hopefully it crushes them all at the bottom like the bugs they are.
Jack, So true. I’ve always heard the saying, They yell loudest before they fall. The entire world is against the MAGAs and Putin lovers.
Exactly! Time will tell, but it’s definitely coming.
But their echo chambers are mighty and way too many are buying the BS. So you cab curb the enthusiasm
Nick, the media is an extremely dangerous and complicit part of the boldness of Fascism. Not giving criminals like trump appropriate punishments has also been destructive & irresponsible.

I don't know if this is on point, but it seems related:

Does it help or hurt to block them?
Peter is a troll who regularly makes nasty comments on MT threads trying to get attention. Ignore him.
Good advice. I bit, then deleted my comment to him. It's no fun for trolls if no one engages. Like the old saying, "Don't Feed the Trolls."
Hi Jen ... I know the feeling! When I get riled up, I try to take a breath before posting/sending a retort. It usually works.... 🧘🏻♀️
I don't know for sure... But my sense is that it helps, because it is not a response, & cuts off any engagement.

Exactly. They have nothing of substance to say, so they rely on stupid personal insults.
Beta male...someone who needs a dominant label to feel secure with themselves.
Wow, what class these people have. Keep killing it Meidas. Their time is limited. Rachel Maddow had a segment on with Trumpers wondering what can be done to put him in jail. They feel duped!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MEIDAS MIGHTY!
Yes and two experts said 84% support for Ukraine was the highest rate they'd ever seen in any poll.
It’s an educational issue.
Or a LACK thereof.
They can’t handle facts 💅

Keep fighting the good fight. But please let’s also bring solutions to the problems Americans are dealing with.
Last night MSNBC showed several Republican House members validating complaints about Trump/Putin and Musk. Those are the folks we need.
22 Republican senators, dozens of Republican House members voted to fund Ukraine. Many of them call Trump a liar about Putin.
Get those Republicans who oppose Putin on the record!
Impeach. Feathers of Hope. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/p/democrats-unite-we-have-a-coup-to
