Zohran says he supports the retirees but will not commit by signing a pledge. Words are cheap and easily rescinded as Mayor Adams showed us. Retirees aren’t asking for anything new, we’re only asking to maintain the exact same coverage we’ve had for 60 years. We worked for lower wages and often no raises at all when the city was going through hard times, because we were promised both at our hiring and retirement that our Medicare benefits would be there. Giving retirees a Medicare advantage plan is not equivalent and not an advantage with its high copays, very narrow network, and required prior authorizations, delays, and denials. Eleven judges have agreed in litigation over the last four years. 250,000 NYC municipal retirees do not support Zohran for Mayor.
