While Dementia is not my 'go-to' diagnosis, it is very clear Trump is not managing as well.
I suspect that as a 'rich boy' his whole life he has usually relied on the people he paid to do his thinking for him, and taking care of him so they could keep living off of his wealth.
Problem is, Trump has burnt so very many people who helped him, from lawyers to contractors, to department heads and certainly a lot of his customers. He goes through life like a mid-scale con-man, always confident there will be more people he can sucker, but that kind of con-man does not play well in a small town, because eventually everyone knows who and what he is.
Trump found very few competent people for his administration this time, in part because he tossed them aside last time when they weren't willing to do EVERYTHING he wanted, no matter how horrible it was. He deliberately surrounded himself with people who were either delusional or liars willing to say Trump won in 2020 and in general willing to say everything Trump says, as though they mean it. Those type of people do not tend to be competent or ethical and he will soon burn through those who either find some tether to reality and/or a line they are not willing to cross. Does not help that Trump is deferring to Musk who is not even remotely as charming as Trump and knows about as little as Trump in how to get things done in government.
This time through Trump is untethered to reality and unrestricted in his actions. He still does not know how much his prior administration sought to both protect and enable him. Trump relies on lawyers (who he insists on micro-managing and then not paying) to protect him and compulsively attacks any who 'get in his way', it does not matter how small a way that may be. The Republican Congress is thoroughly filled (on the Republican side) with cowards or the corrupt, afraid of both Musk and Trump to have them 'primaried' if they do not just fall in line.
Interesting to note the department heads are starting to learn a little self preservation, but Trump will not tolerate that for long, since his fear of jail will drive him to spiral ever more out of control.
Trump is a bully, a cheat who never learned to study, a 'B' class con-man and Mob Boss wannabe, who dreams of becoming a Dictator, just like his Idol Putin. The fact that he is 78 years old and barely one step away from a jail cell means he is both very afraid and is not able to learn any new tricks. This will not end well for the convicted felon, and he people will suffer more before they react with sufficient force to end him.
