Your a good guy Ben. 😇 My mother had to dig up my Dad and do another autopsy on him because of the cheating lying coal company. They tried to rip off a widow with three little kids in 1969.. Thank goodness for my Uncle and Grandpa that kept pushing them. He was electrocuted at work in unsafe conditions, but needed the money so he went to work. They indeed found it wasn’t a heart attack as they paid off the corner or funeral home to say . I wish I could get it changed on the old list online of coal miners deaths, it still says he died of natural causes! My hate for coal runs deep.

Thank all of you for being so sweet. Yes it was rough. I always said I should write a book of my life. LoL

I'd love to read it. Women's perspective on life are so important yet how often do we get to hear them? I'm starting a short course on writing autobigraphies in the new year which I hope will push me into wrtiting mine :)

That’s awesome. Just maybe I will. Writing was never one of my best subjects though.

Check with your local community college; many professors offer writing seminars on weekends open to all. If anything, write for yourself to have a record of what happened and how it affected you. Even if you choose not to publish, you will leave a legacy of record.

Write your story, get it down, someone else can clean it up for you with editing. A friend once reminded me, "Even successful authors get edited." Good luck!

Thank you for sharing this here. Stories like this need to be told, over and over, to keep us all aware of our common enemy - greed, enhanced by extreme capitalist system. It sounds as if it's from an earlier time before unions, but in some ways unionization can lull our sense of outrage.

I'm sorry you and your family had to go through this.

May coal mining cease and all workers and their families be safe.

Ann, Springfeld, IL. Springfeld community needs all the support you can get! Legal too! Newspapers article I opened up was only in 10 font online?! Too hard for local newspapers subscribers too read.
