There are no guarantees of any sort of Democratic wave. There should have been such a wave in 2024 when the choice for not voting meant a victory for Donald J Trump. If turnout for these midterms is not utterly massive, then Trumpism prevails because the election will never be certified. Every caring American must vote, and get their ballot in, meaning if you get a mail ballot, deposit it at a polling place so that the USPS cannot deny your franchise. Know that this criminal regime and its toadies in red states will stop at nothing to stay in power. Remember the Sixth of January!!

We wuz screrwed. Did Trump admit Musk stole Pennsylvania?

Did Musk admit it?

If the Dems do take the house and senate, they’d better show they’re willing to do something with it. They can’t sit back and do nothing. They’re saying they can do better, so they’d better prove it. And they need to make efforts to build bi-partisanship over issues they care about. We have to end the us vs. them and unite the country again. Otherwise, Dems will lose the majority in 2028. That’s what usually happens. The country wants change, Dems get elected, we get more of the-same-as-before, and Dems get voted out. Dems don’t want to shake the tree and upset their big-money donors, but they can’t do that this time. They must lead the charge for big reforms starting with getting dark money out of politics and outlawing super-pacs.

They need to protect the American people from another d j fn t! Every single thing he is needs to be disqualifying! No PDFs, no felons, no rapists, no convictions what so ever!! Well maybe a traffic violation?? I mean, at this point a realtor has more fiduciary responsibility than the president! Sorry not sorry, we are taking the trash out for good! That means no more trash going in! Oh and don’t forget to codify ROE for women’s healthcare! If we are worried about the birth rate make sure parents can afford to procreate! Make sure families can bond properly after birth for mental health of the children! Come on DEMOCRATS we got this! 🔵

PASS the ERA. It is the route to fundamentally choosing equality for all!!

Linda Eriksson's avatar

From your lips to God’s ear! We have multiple choices each and every day - don’t ignore yours. Choose wisely!

Lee Lenard's avatar

Oligarchs and AIPAC own so many of the “Democrat Establishment “ that even with a few new faces, nothing will happen. They will not shake the tree!

Linda Eriksson's avatar

There are more of “we the people” than those who try to use their money to manipulate our government, our country and our lives. Many vs money - I’ll bet on the will of the many every time!

Patricia Davis's avatar

I would like to bet on the many, but I live in Texas where the many have been so brainwashed by the rich and powerful, they’re too afraid to NOT vote the way they’ve been taught. And when they do, things stay nearly the same as before. So they quit voting altogether and the rich and powerful stay in power.

It’s a vicious cycle that’s been going on for almost 40 years here. So the top priority for Dems must be:

1. Economy

2. Healthcare

3. Election reform

4. Judicial reform

They must be vocal about it and use social media and independent news outlets to get out the message. They have to break into the far-right echo chambers. And they have to reach across the aisle and get their republican counterparts on board with their plans.

The division has to stop.

Lee Lenard's avatar

Same from another Red State, although most of the brainwashing comes from fundamentalist religious pulpits with Fox entertainment as their source.

The social media is awash this morning with continuous post of how Biden has driven up inflation so much they could no longer regularly eat meat. Trump their savior has come thru for them like he promised. Meat prices are going to drop by 25%.

I can only imagine what the “prayers sound like this morning in the fundamentalist white Christian churches “….and we have one on every corner.

They are not owned, no one is owned! Just because people use help to get elected DOES NOT mean they OWN that vote in congress! How Congress works sir, we the people, for the people, by the people, not we the people, for the people, by the people, eh, unless ai pac or a super donor buys my vote! No no no, not how that works! When we learn better we do better! We are better than that corrupt thinking! Bottom line if you do not do what you are elected to do, you out! Don’t need donors now! Campaign reform is first thing to happen. Level the playing field there too! Gotta happen! No more unelected e boys gonna run this country ever again!

Patricia, we have fundamental value differences in the electorate. People who fracked their land and neighbors lost their water. Oklahoma has been so drained of oil, clean water turned to poison water, that clean drinking water is at risk and small earthquakes are common. For 250 years, women are chattel, black and brown folk are 'to be used for cheap labor, black men imprisoned for decades due to white human fear of the retribution we whites actually deserve!' And, how many poor European whites sailed to the US, to halt their own slave, vassal-serf relations? Then, killed Native Americans to just shy of genocide, and joined the black African slave trade, which besides natural resource exploitation is the foundation of US ' get on your knees, there goes a dollar bill!' Castine Maine historical society just publicized their research that in fact SLAVING was the big money maker here in 1700s. We must regionalize the US, allowing consequences, then seek accountability for the death making decisions of a Richy Rich and the Corporations. Red states have destroyed their landscapes, especially near minorities and now want to destroy all public lands and educated, Blue states, which have also succumbed to Corporate myths of personhood, since the late 1800s lie of a court decision enabling the fundamental shift from life being a central value to death by GREED and the mental illnesses of addiction to money and OCD to gold.

Patricia Davis's avatar

You are right. Greed over loving your neighbor. That’s the whole problem. Greed for money, land, resources. The list goes on and on. And we do deserve retribution. But we are afraid of it. Perhaps we should be.

OR. We become the ‘good’ neighbor and change our behavior. Show contrition and make restitutions. Enact the ERA and finally add it to our constitution. It has been ratified, but never officially added. That’s a first step. But a necessary one.

Enact a NATIONAL minimum wage that keeps up with inflation. Revisit it every two years to make sure it is. And create a national healthcare system that anyone can join through their employers. Or do Medicare for all. Healthcare should not put people in financial distress, especially the elderly and children. And make childcare and education changes so that families can afford to work and provide for their families and children aren’t left home alone. It’s time to end the latch-key kids epidemic that started in the 90s when Congress decided that women were having babies to make more money so they ‘reformed’ welfare. And women who do unpaid labor get social security credit for their work so they are eligible to receive benefits, not just spousal benefits, based on their entire work history.

And of course, protect the environment and the natural world. It keeps us alive and healthy. So, no more passes for polluters and corporations. Billionaires pay their fair share of taxes. No loopholes. Off-shore accounts count. We don’t get better until we rebuild our middle class and eliminate poverty. We are the wealthiest country in the world. Hungry children and families, homeless veterans and families is shameful.

So yeah. There’s sooo much work to do. And right now, NO ONE is doing it.

I was so hopeful the day before the last election. Somehow on election day, I had a bad feeling that was justified.

I don’t want to hear about how we are going to have a blue wave and be disappointed again

You must repeat that Trump with help from Musk stole his last election by withholding mail in ballots surreptitiously. Now he wants to do the same to keep Democrats from winning.

“I will instruct post masters not to count any ballot received after polls close”

Andrew Campbell's avatar

I know that the immediate challenge is to get elected, but beyond that, what will Democrats do if they get the kind of election results talked about here? Do they, can they play the long game?

Probably write another strongly worded letter and then state that we need to work together. I want accountability. They better go in as fighters and stay that way.

In 2008, and now, I lived/live in two different states, in areas each about 70% Republican. What I noticed in 2008 in the prior state was the sudden disappearance of R bumper stickers from doctors' cars at the hospital where I worked. In this new area, what I noticed July 4 was about 1/4 of the US flags flying on homes than in years previous. Sometimes it's what you _don't_ see or hear that's the big clue.

The fact that Trump keeps telling the American people that the Golden Ballroom is going to be paid for by His Own Donors and that is a lie and Democrats should Tell the American People that they are going to be paying for this Ridiculous Ballroom 🤴🏼🪎⚖️🗳️💙
