So the only security Hegseth is worried about is his own and keeping the press away so nobody finds out exactly how much of an idiot he is and what a mess he's making.

Similar restrictions going on re the president and guesses are that it is to hide HIS incompetence, lack of focus on the right things, incoherent speeches / rambling, etc. . Of course, NONE of the dept heads are qualified in the least to actually run their organizations. They are simply loyalist sycophants, good at gaslighting and lying. They are there only to do as told. Nobody needs to know anything.... and while I've thought they were lying when asked questions re their depts and would respond with "I don't know", I'm now thinking that mostly they really DON"T know because someone else is telling them exactly what to do but more likely doing it "for" him and not disclosing it... and THAT comes from the P2025 blueprint, which seems to lay out in extreme detail which groups should be disbanded, which positions should be eliminated, the timing , the "messages, etc etc etc. NOBODY - even the president - has to do ANY thinking. They just have to be really good at adeptly slinging it whenever asked any one question, no matter who's asking.

I do believe that the tariffs are the felonтАЩs idea. He is even surprising the cabinet with those. He does think he knows about business, but obviously he doesnтАЩt.

foofaraw & Chiquita(ARF!)'s avatar

When tariffs are called "taxes", it's very true.

And how much of this "tax" one pays is based on income level.

Let's say that someone very wealthy makes $1B in a year, but manages to "survive" on only $100M, or 10%. They pay (at most) 10% of this income in tariffs/taxes.

But those of us who spent pretty much every cent we make are effectively paying 100% of our income in this tax.

Much like the "flat tax" Steve Forbes ran on in 1996. (So simple you can file your taxes on the back of a postcard!' And very expensive, for those of us not fabulously wealthy.

I agree, but so far the legal system has said some things, made some rulings but there have been no consequences, so I am running out of hope.
