Prosecutors do more than 'political' cases. There are consequences when there are not enough prosecutors for the day to day business of enforcing our laws, including the ones rich people rely on. When the DoJ is hollowed out and they try to replace with lawyers (that are not disbarred) who are MAGA loyalists, they will find out; The small number of MAGA loyalist lawyers they can find willing to work for the government (at modest wages) will be assigned to Political hit-jobs and there will not be enough for anything else. The halls will be emptied. There will be fewer lawyers willing to defend MAGA loyalists as they find ways to break state laws. Judges will find the cases made by the (new) DoJ to be flawed in many ways, and they will either be thrown out or just plain lose. Sure, they will have fewer cases to prosecute as they turn a blind eye to corruption and other crimes, such as Mayor Adams, but the people will still hear about the corruption, they will still see the consequences.
