Democrats need to stop asking for $3 from everybody for a while - because it’s as if all we are to them is a source of funds, and we ain’t billionaires - and instead use that mailing list to send short messages, each on a different subject, educating Americans about what is going on. The Treasury Secretary’s disgusting comment about social security would be my choice for number one.

Anne L Avery's avatar

We need to hear more about what they're doing to help protect us and curtail the corruption? We need to protect the money we have, not donate it away. Our income/savings are under stress and challenge.

Susan Troy's avatar

What we have is raw courage. They have none. They are too afraid of losing their stuff and their privileges. Our job is to make certain they fail. We can do this only if we work together.😊👍

TriTorch's avatar

Shouldn't we be asking how it is possible that representatives and senators on both sides of the isle start out with a base salary under $200,000 and often end up being millionaires a few years later?

Why is this allowed:

You could hook the revolving door between the CDC and the corporations they govern up to a turbine and light up the Vegas strip, meanwhile congress invests heavily in these enterprises based on legislation that they are going to pass in the future because they are exempt from insider trading laws.

Kathy Tankersley's avatar

Agreed. If this country ever turns around and the rapey traitor felon is gone along with his corrupt regime, major anti-corruption legislation must be passed throughout all three branches of government. It’s obvious that the constitution and judiciary is toothless when faced with a true crime boss and his enablers like the rapey felon. The problem is the “ruling party” right now, and that republican voters can’t see corruption in front of their faces unless it smacks them up side the head. They blame everyone else, deflect truth and point fingers and never take responsibility or face accountability for anything committed in their name.

KCM's avatar

Beginning with a Constitutional amendment stating a convicted felon cannot be president.

Julie Smalley's avatar

Maybe a bit further. Can’t have any sexual assault investigations, or his business can be charged fraud. Need to cover all the bases

Patrice Mobley's avatar

Of course that's their requirement for being a reThuglican, being a sexual assaulter or a criminal.

Jenny Faucett's avatar

Wait until the checks don't come and snap benefits go bye bye for the trumpers wake tf up

The tRump voters emulate their dear leader.

Not even when it hits them upside the head - if it ever does

Susan Troy's avatar

Good call. Congress, “show us your horses.”

Jacque DeWolf's avatar

yes like MTG who does nothing but spouts conspiracy theories

Brian Mueller's avatar

I stopped all contributions until they tell me specifically what they will do to stop Trump and Musk.

CJ Mighty's avatar

I'm beginning to think those are scams. I get more emails or alerts asking for donations to fight the GOP, but nothing about action!

Terry's avatar

I was only asked for donations when Kamala Harris was running for President because that's who I donated to. I'm in NW IL. I also subscribe to Scott Dworkin. He has a lot of links to write letters to your senators and your Rep. I've written many, and I've received many letters from each Senator back. My Rep is wrong, that's a whole 'nother issue. Senator Duckworth sends out newsletters on what she's doing. I'm signed up for that. Has anyone contacted their senators and Rep or looked on their web page to see if they send a newsletter? That's my suggestion because I don't see anyone suggesting this to see what they're doing.

Cheryl Brown's avatar

I agree! I have responded to each request with a Stop2End. When I see real action is when I’ll start donate again.

Baby420's avatar

Same here. And somehow they keep coming and with a scare tactic with it. That makes me mad and makes them no different than the other side. They need to quit that if they want donors. They know 60% live paycheck to paycheck and the people with only income is SOCIAL SECURITY and no savings are scared shitless to spend much less DONATE right now. They need to figure out how to MESSAGE THE SAME WAY THEY ARE DOING US FOR DONATIONS. THEY MIGHT GET SOMEWHERE THEN.

Susan Troy's avatar

I’m glad to hear everyone chime in on this one. I’m happy to donate monthly to Elizabeth Warren because I know she’s doing work I admire, like fighting for the Post Office. Privatization is the Communist Manifesto of 2024 along with Project 2025.

Marie's avatar

They don’t read our messages, I’m convinced, after sending several with concrete suggestions.

Susan Troy's avatar

We all need to use our heads. Or we will lose them as well as our wallets. I’m reading Strongmen by Ruth Ben Ghiat. Strongmen eventually fall, but they take a lot of innocent people with them. Let us not be those people. Let’s nip this bunch of arrogant assholes in the bud.

Bypass the Democratic Party.

Donate directly to Bernie's Fight the Oligarchy Tour. There were 30,000 people at his rally in Denver yesterday.

He's on a roll. Let's keep him going!

My husband and I live on Social Security. Besides being insecure about our income, we don't have money to donate. I resent getting emails addressing me by my first name asking me to donate.

4sq's avatar

Yes, I live on my teacher's pension, no Social Security. If my pension stops, I'm homeless! I'm alone and have no help.

Baby420's avatar

That's our situation only it's SS.

Terri Leslie's avatar

I for one, am sick of them asking for donations. I want to see them do the hard work first. Go after them!

Pete Hall from WI's avatar

I agree. I used to give those Think Blue messages $25. I am temporarily (I hope) impoverished right now. Those incessant gimme-gimme messages make me feel worthless. I don't even open most of them anymore. How am I supposed to get excited about someone who tells me 30 times a day that I'm a worthless POS?

Anne J.'s avatar

I keep responding I’ll think about it when I see some action.

P A Williams's avatar

Actually it's the other side too, constantly trying to pull me in

Mother Earth's avatar

Your so right

All those requests for more money ! They are just like you regular people with a voice maybe everyone can do those same call requests and just pay thier roof over thier heads and feed thier families !

But then who’s going to represent them ? Are we back in taxation without representation times again????

If you have not already done so, Join your local Indivisible group. What a joy to be with like minded people. Plenty of things you can do from home.

Susan Troy's avatar

It is indeed. I’m tired of not being able to share my thoughts because those around me aren’t interested.

Cecilia Rodriguez Griffin's avatar

I live in Wisconsin. Musk is doing his dirty work here trying to buy the State Supreme Court election on April 1st. All Democrats do is ask for money! If I donated to *every* email and text message I received, I’d be broker than broke! (I am one of the ones who lives on their Social Security checks). Dems need to change their strategy and start being loud and naming names or join Bernie and AOC in fighting this horrible administration.

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

Be vocal about what is going on. I have been getting text messages to donate and put a stop on it. I would purchase from Bernie's store but I cannot afford to donate. (Although I did donate to Ukraine.) Stop sending messages to donate. Start to do something.

Susan Troy's avatar

I agree. I’m not donating. I live in California and my friends and I have written 300 postcards for Susan Crawford. That’s how I’m contributing. Time, materials, and labor. This is not a Party game. This is the real Citizens United and we all have to stand together.

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

I have started volunteering to write postcards. I am starting out with 50 and then go from there.

Susan Troy's avatar

I like to write, so this is easy for me. It beats worry beads. I pretend I’m writing to friends, which is more true than not 😊

Mary Hyde-Kerr's avatar

I thought social security had laws to protect it. Am I wrong? Please god don’t take money from seniors! It’s their money! Shit

David Harms's avatar

I loved Rep. Casar’s 5 minute question & answer session to the Doge Subcommittee. He really made his point!

https://youtu.be/RGCJgTk4VMI

Marie's avatar

OUTSTANDING ! This is the kind of fearless marshaling of facts that we need all our democrat, senators and representatives to have at their fingertips! David, thank you for posting this URL and I hope a lot of people will pass it forward because it warrants far greater exposure.

Anne L Avery's avatar

We citizens will pay these tariffs NOT the countries assigned tariffs. Why do people affiliated with the current administration supporting them? To please the Boss?

Susan Troy's avatar

In a word, yes. And Trump/Musk to please Putin. To hell with all of them. Talk about Welfare Queens…

Judy Katzin's avatar

Another great interview! Ben, you are amazing! The continued motivation to fight does not fall on deaf ears. At 81 my knives and pitchforks and vocal cords are OUT!!

Bonnie Sue Miller's avatar

I don't think it's arrogance with Scott Besent — he's just stupid!

James Coyle's avatar

These two characteristics are not in contradiction. In fact, they are requirements for a position in the Trump administration.

Michelle's avatar

The Bernie and AOC “tour” needs to hit the deep red States ie Tennessee to help people understand what’s really going on. There’s so many people who don’t get it.

Democrats need to get tough and hold the line and do everything in their power to stop this madness. The elected officials keep asking the public to organize and protest. So many of us are spending 8+ hours a day working to do what we can but we don’t feel supported by our elected officials. We’ll do our part, will you all unite and do yours?

CJ Mighty's avatar

I agree and get out here like Bernie and AOC!

GingerLee's avatar

perfect ..keep it simple $8,000,0000 a DAY VS $65 a DAY... brilliant thank you

Mary Daley's avatar

Please come to Maine to wake up the trump voting idiots here.

Anne Drissel's avatar

Check out your local INDIVISIBLE organization and work through them. They’re focused. Action oriented. Not just a bunch of talk about “we should get organized!”

deebie14@telus.net.'s avatar

Let's fight for democracy. Let's remove Trump and Elon oligarchs in this country

Susan Klemetsen's avatar

Thank you for the laugh! The arrogance of these Trump-fluffers is off the charts. They must think we can't see what is happening before our eyes. They are destroying America.

Frances Case's avatar

Just left the Tucson rally; Bernie, AOC & Casar. 20,000 ppl. It was amazing.

Greg's avatar

Hard to understand how people like Bessent who look so 'normal' and reasonable at first glance can be such cruel, hypocritical a*holes. He's an awful speaker. Makes me want to punch the screen.

Thanks to Rep. Casar!! So appreciated.
