On Uncovered today, I talked about the big win for Democrats in Wisconsin last night, and what I believe will be the long-term implications of that. Many Republicans in Congress are tiring of Musk and believe he will be a serious liability for them in the 2026 midterm elections. Last night reinforced that for them. There is a growing concern inside the Trump Admin and congress that Musk is going to hurt them more than help and they want him out of the White House and kept at arms length.
I also talked about Trump’s tariffs and the broader implications of that for us domestically, internationally, and politically. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Advisor Peter Navarro are the prime movers who pushed Trump towards these draconian tariffs, and there are many inside the Trump Admin and in congress who think this is going to be a disaster which will derail the Republican agenda and the US economy. Knives are out for Lutnick, but right now he is the one who has Trump’s ear - not them.
I talked about Cory Booker’s inspirational 25-hour speech yesterday and the political implications of that for the Democratic Party. I believe that was Booker’s opening statement in his bid to replace Chuck Schumer as Minority Leader, and hope that will come sooner rather than later, despite Schumer’s efforts to stubbornly cling to his job.
I talked about divisions forming between the moderate and libertarian-leaning wings of the Republican Party and MAGA about how migrant deportations are being handled, and that Joe Rogan has started to speak out in opposition of them for the first time.
We also talked about a few other interesting things in the news, including Vance’s disastrous trip to Greenland and Mike Lindell’s likely run for Governor of Minnesota.
I Really, REALLY LIKE getting this text article about what you talked about on your podcast.
I really like it.
We know you cannot do the ... bullet point paragraphs for the nightly bulletin on your podcast day. It's too much for anyone to do that.
But this written summary gives those of us who prefer text or a podcast something new to read. It is perfect.
Thank you.
Hi Ron. I would like hear a discussion about where the tariff money is going. Trump keeps talking about how “we’re”going to be really really rich. When he talked about tariffs during the campaign, he talked about how it would pay off the debt in no time. Since being elected he’s only talked about how rich “we” are going to be. A very bright spotlight needs to be shined on where all this tariff money is going. Seems like it’s going to end up being a slush fund for his personal agenda items and acquisitions.
