Keep it up. The winds are changing! I live in a rural small county in deep red NC and I’ve been trying to get data out to the people. There are a lot of farmers, Vets and people on Medicaid in this county. Over 25% on Medicaid alone. No one here is talking about it, so I am. I’m also trying to push the local Dem party to do something but…

Good for you and keep it up! I live in rural Wisconsin and you would think the population is all billionaires, when in fact it’s one of the poorest counties in the state.
I'm in rural Wisconsin, too- up north. It is SO uncomfortable. I wore a "vote democracy" shirt to Walmart to get prescriptions (don't have a lot of options), and was given the evil eye multiple times. I know there's a lot more like me, but it is frustrating how much people hide. We should not be that afraid. I have a public job and have to be mindful but still go to protests if I know about them.
I've started wearing my "Nasty Woman" shirt and "Nevertheless, she persisted" shirt. I keep hoping someone will ask me about them, but so far......crickets.
I'd guess that anyone who disagreed with you would have no recollection of what the second shirt meant, if they ever knew. Don't know if my daughter ever wears the one I got her, but I know she liked it.
Listen, getting the stink eye is more than tolerable. I was doing phone work for the Harris campaign calling red state blue voters & there were people in MORTAL FEAR of their neighbors, & it wasn't just getting the stink eye it was fear of getting their Fing house burned down.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it sound like a "big deal" to get the stink eye. I thought it was ridiculous from these people with the hate they've been wearing for a decade. There's more that's happened to me and others, but the fear is palpable in public spaces. My neighbors liked my political signs this fall but were afraid to put any up. My house gets "trolled" by loud trucks every weekend, revving their engines, doing doughnuts in front of my house, trying to intimidate. My dog ingested a toxin and was seriously ill and we still don't know where it originated. I'm outspoken, an ally to LGBTQIA+, BLM, immigrants, teachers, and anyone targeted by this administration, and my house is centrally located. Every day I think about conceal and carry, but if I'd had a gun at some points in my life, I wouldn't be here today. I have cameras. I deal. Anyway, it was an observation and it was weird for someone who has lived in urban areas where people don't care what you're wearing. I also don't discount rage in someone's eyes. My body did react to that, though my brain knew I was safe. Sorry, again. I know MANY are in more danger than I am, which is why I speak out.
And forgive me for making it sound like I was discounting your discomfort, that's my fault for how I phrased my response my main point was just pointing out that I'd interacted with people, like you & your neighbors, that really lived in mortal fear from people who they thought were their neighbors, their neighborhood, Maybe even friends.
I appreciate your reply. I'm incredibly vulnerable right now, probably most of us are, and I think there's part of me that reacts with a desperation to be heard that's really intended for those with their heads in the sand or in the land of delusion... not for others who are trying to get through this, too. It's a tough day. 🤗
"Tough" is putting it mildly for sure, I would use that old saw about "what doesn't kill us make us stronger" but I don't like the choice...
My earlier comment was basically stressing that humor can be not only a shield but a blunt object against those forces that oppress. Try to laugh, if only for your own sake, &may it be infectious. And enjoy the rest of your weekend, however you're able to do that!
Absolutely, who ever in America had to be afraid of the government. Now we do. It's frustrating as hades to live among so many ignorant people, who, despite mayhem, vote for the orange fluff ball, and tolerate a mentally challenged person, like Musk to destroy us. Never mind the fluff ball, he is a walking psychopath. America grow some fortitude and stand up for yourselves.
I also live in rural, deep red, poor ….WV . I did not participate in the demise of what many say is America in the cross hairs. My career was helping the least , farming, music and small community, building what I needed. If I broke something I paid for it or fixed it, never was a part of waste or any fraud, shared my bounty, and lived quietly ( except for a few country hootenannies, fairs, and pig roasts). I expect people to be responsible and the law to exact upon them if they don’t abide. I’ve seen a lot of change in the many years, protested/called out the ‘wrongs’.
I hope America is never afraid to speak up, as have other countries , and now our own history/these days has seen voices silenced , newspapers die , documented destruction pardoned, and promises reduced to lies and manipulation. I always figured shady went on in the layers -mafia, drug rings, prostitution, read some , met some, put a few ‘ away ‘, but generally people were out to help . Help make a home for themselves and work jobs that would promote benefits, needs, and we’d work on problems together for making it better, even went to war to help.
We always felt things were running pretty smooth , once in a while some got caught ‘fingers in the cookie jar’ or out of kilter /mental disease/bad people hit the news , went to prison or died.
It’s changed .This America has changed. It’s not smooth anymore .
I’d like to help get it smooth again …so my grandchildren and great grandchildren can enjoy this …as I did.
Good for you. It takes courage do do what you’re doing. But you aren’t alone.Every day more people are standing up and saying no to being bought and sold for the personal pleasure of billionaires.
Putin/Ukraine is Trump's Achilles heel. Ukraine is the least common denominator, as 22 senate Republicans and dozens of Republican House members supported Ukraine funding. Many of them call Trump a liar. Your senator, Tillis is one of them.
Othe Republicans love their pork.
Constituents and donors have to pressure them.
E.g. Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., said he thinks Trump has some latitude to pursue trade wars but not at a long-term cost.“Look, this isn’t the way I would do it,” Rounds said of the White House’s tack. “I think they want to try something different than from the previous administration. But they’ve got to show some success fairly quickly.”
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said Trump’s “dramatic tariffs” on Canada and Mexico “could be devastating to the economy,” including in his home state. “There are stories coming out talking about cars costing $10,000 more. And, of course, we’re worried about bourbon. We want to sell our bourbon. The Canadians are going to block our bourbon,” Paul said. “Now that you add lumber costs to that and steel with tariffs, nobody at home is coming up to me and saying please put tariffs on.”
Republican Sen. Katie Britt has been working to make sure the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency doesn’t hit what she called “life-saving, groundbreaking research at high-achieving institutions,” including her state’s beloved University of Alabama.
Kansas GOP Sen. Jerry Moran is worried that food from heartland farmers would spoil rather than be sent around the world as the U.S. Agency for International Development shutters.
And Idaho GOP Rep. Mike Simpson warns national parks could be impaired by cutbacks at the start of summer hiring in preparation for the onslaught of visitors.
“We need to have a conversation with DOGE and the administration about exactly what they’ve done here,” said Simpson, a seasoned lawmaker who sits on the powerful Appropriations Committee. “It’s a concern to all of us.”
Republican Senators Question Musk on DOGE Cuts, Gently Insisting on Input
Unfortunately I don't see conversations happening with DOGE and the administration. None of them care about We the People. They only care about pilfering our country.
I think you pegged it! Throwing out bogus scrap claiming their transparent?? With throwing out bogus crap??? Shut this jack ass down! He's messing up working systems. Even he knows that!!
That is the one thing Tillis has done that is rational. The rest of fuckin crazy. He also gladly approved all his appointments, with no pushback. Sorry but some of those people are unforgivable. So what does someone like Tillis do? He’s going to have to secretly get a bunch of other republicans and democrats together to organize a Re-take of the powers of government.
Call your representatives, call them all over the country, and demand that Congressional votes be ANONYMOUS. We will see the results almost immediately.
I absolutely agree with your comment on agreeing to all the cabinet appointments without pushback. That was the breaking point for me with Rounds and Thune. They obligingly agreed to confirm individuals who are totally unqualified and therefore unfit for the positions they are in. We are in a tough position internationally as well as domestically. We went from a position of global strength and leadership to one where our long term allies don’t know what to think or expect from day to day regarding our support. Eight years of leadership with NATO basically gone. A domestic economy the envy of the world. Gone! And with nothing but blames and excuses and never taking the responsibility and accountability of the actions which caused all this in such short order. Such a shame.
When he put tariffs on China, they blocked sales of beef. The entire industry is in panic. So should 20 Republican senators that represent cow country.
Rand Paul also fears for the bourbon industry and called out Trump.
Musk is entirely nutsy koo koo, and you'd think that his antiosocial profile would turn off some of the Congressional Republicans. Imagine being a member of the House SS subcommittee or the Senate appropriations committee and listening to insane bull as a rationalization to steal the $2.8 trillion trust fund. . No proven fraud.
Good for you!!! I need a bit more information before I continue to be disappointed with Schumer...if there was a government shut down the best I've been able to find is that the Federal Courts would be impacted...if this is true then what he did was actually very smart since the courts are our only path to saving democracy (to say nothing of saving person's jobs and livelihoods. If the courts would have continued to operate at usual, then then is the biggest betrayal of the American people maybe ever...voters knew what trump stood for but we thought schumer stood for something he does not. Maybe....Anyway it is up to us and not the Democratic party to make a difference. Sometimes I do think the local party may help but better options are organizations like Every State Blue or Indivisible. The thing with Every State Blue is that they try to be sure there is at least a Dem running in an election so that folks who are convinced by the Lincoln Project or Indivisible that they need to vote for anyone besides the Congressman/woman who is voting with trump against their best interests has someone else to vote for.
Ken Martin, the chairman of the DNC has stated that they are doing at least one townhall in every state - there are offices in every state, and most cities also have local committees. You can probably find your local info on the DNC website - should be a good place to start. Also, some other politicians and activists are indicating that they will do townhalls where the Reps are too afraid to - Tim Walz, for one!
I’m already going to my local Dem party precinct meeting that is tomorrow night. I’ve also reached out to my county party to ask how I can help. I’ve now got the chair of my local party helping me to get information into our local newspaper.
Keep it up. The winds are changing! I live in a rural small county in deep red NC and I’ve been trying to get data out to the people. I'm going to wear my "Nevertheless she persisted" shirt again as soon as I get home. Thanks for the reminder!

That takes courage. A free people cannot and should not live in fear.
so so so so sad! I found a 78 yr old neighbor who said he was afraid to go outside, unsure of how red and violent his neighbors are!
That’s tragic.

Unfortunately I don't see conversations happening with DOGE and the administration. None of them care about We the People. They only care about pilfering our country.
They have amigdylas. Fight or flight. If our country's sovereignity is at stake some will fight.
It has to hit them directly first, and now it is.
Have to agree on lack of conversation. That's not anything that matters to them.
Yes and this is the result of the long promoted that govt cannot solve problems.

Make it a binary choice. Read Feathers of Hope. Treason is the least common denominator. They're Republicans. Aren't going to have an epiphany.

Thom Tillis is calling Dumpy a liar? I live in NC, in Fayetteville, and I haven't seen that one. I didn't think he had the stones.

“There are stories coming out talking about cars costing $10,000 more.” This guy must lease. There’s NO cars under 10 grand 😂
Right. So the person was saying we now add another $10k to the price of a vehicle. Previously that modest car was $26k? Now $36k. $50k...now $60k+
I think he means increase in price.

"House SS subcommittee" ?????
We have a subcommittee on evaluating Hitler's Schutzstaffel? The Night of the Long Knives is closer than I thought.
Zocial Zecurity. https://clerk.house.gov/committees/WM01
No, an ADDITIONAL ten grand OVER the former sticker price. Just to clarify.
I believe that is the only way anything will get done. Good for you. Change happens one conversation at a time.
