Trump voters are getting a rude awakening, it seems, every single day, whether it's Donald Trump posting about reopening Alcatraz or AI images of himself as the Pope, as the world is grieving the passing of Pope Francis, whether it's Donald Trump's trade wars against the world,

or Donald Trump saying he doesn't know if he needs to follow the Constitution and saying that he doesn't believe immigrants should get due process and that they shouldn't get charged. trials at all. When we're looking at the polling data, we're seeing some of the biggest drop off as well among Trump voters,

Latino voters for Trump now overwhelmingly disapprove of Donald Trump. And you remember we were showing you videos like this leading up to the election and even thereafter. Let's play this clip right here.

Senator Ruben Gallego Unloads on Trump’s Anti-Veteran Agenda and Economic Chaos

In our latest MeidasTouch interview, I sat down with Senator Gallego to expose Trump’s betrayal of veterans, how Republicans tried to sneak Trump loopholes into crypto laws, and more.

In my latest conversation with Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) on the MeidasTouch Network, we got into everything—from the economic gut punches hitting working-class families under Trump’s failed policies, to the MAGA movement’s brazen betrayal of veterans, and even the GOP’s shady attempt to ram through a crypto bill with what appeared to be a carveout for Trump’s own corrupt dealings.

As Senator Gallego pointed out, Trump voters—especially Latino men—are waking up. They were sold lies about jobs, family, and opportunity. Now they’re watching as Trump floats reopening Alcatraz and praises a dystopia where immigrants have no due process and no trials. Latino support for Trump is cratering, and Gallego made clear why: They’re the first to be fired, last to be hired—and they feel the economic pain first.

When I asked about the economy, Senator Gallego went deeper than Wall Street spin. He laid it out plainly: these aren’t investors watching stock tickers. They’re truckers, factory workers, waiters. And they know exactly when the bottom is falling out. GDP is shrinking, wages are stagnant, and costs are climbing. The “Art of the Deal” can’t pay the rent.

But it gets worse. Trump’s administration isn’t just economically incompetent—it’s outright hostile to the people who’ve served this country. Senator Gallego, a Marine Corps veteran himself, was crystal clear: Trump’s team is the most anti-veteran administration in history. From gutting the VA with unexplained workforce cuts to floating the absurd idea of renaming Veterans Day to “World War II Day,” Gallego didn’t mince words—“how stupid are you to even think about that?”

And then came the crypto grift. Gallego exposed how Republicans tried to force through legislation with exemptions that would’ve let Trump and others self-deal on the sly—profiting off unregulated stablecoins while pretending to protect investors. “You can’t try to f*ck us and say, ‘deal with it,’” Gallego said. That’s the raw truth.

We closed by talking about housing, energy, and the future. Senator Gallego is focused on the real stuff: affordable homes, expanding clean energy, including nuclear, and making government work for people again, not billionaires and meme-coin scammers.

I hope you enjoy this interview. To hear more conversations like this, remember to add the MeidasTouch Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and if you’ve done that already, consider leaving a 5-star review. Thank you for spreading these pro-democracy messages and supporting independent media.

If you can make sure they teach their friends because this is the problem Trump is trying to make our history go away, and there are many like you or your dad that have served this country and they deserve the highest level of respect, but they're not getting it. And the big part of it is these goons are trying to erase history of anybody that wasn't European white having any kind of heroic qualities or anything like that it's insane. they even scrub the Tuskegee airmen website in Arlington. I believe trying to cover up things that is just blatantly wrong. I don't care what nationality anybody is. We shouldn't treat anybody like that. This country was made great because we work together as a team regardless of our politics.

Completely agree! We have Memorial Day in one week, July 4th in a little over a month, and we need to talk about all the connections we have. I have a grandfather who fought in WWI, my dad and uncles in WWII, and many cousins who are veterans of Afghanistan and many other places - all Mexican Americans. I plan to make a lot of statements about that. 🇺🇸🙏🏻❤️‍🩹

I'm asking this in good faith, not trying to create conflict in this good community: Why do you believe the Latino community was pushing the Senator to vote for Georgia election denying David Perdue as Ambassdor to China? Why does that have to do with his constituents or the latino community?

It's always going to be an out for him if we have no standards at all.

Why do you believe the constituents was pushing the Senator to vote for Georgia election denying David Perdue as Ambassdor to China? You're implying he shouldn't have expended political capital opposing Perdue. Why would his consitutents get pissed about that? What am I missing on that front?

Oh, believe me before the election I got in a heated argument with a Chinese Latino Nurse that I wasn't trying to argue with her another thing she overheard my conversation about Trump on the phone and started yelling. Apparently, the Latinos thought Trump was for them. I said, I don't think you understand he wants to deport all of you. They didn't believe me. She seemed like a nice person. I was kind of surprised she was Latino because she looked more Chinese, but she was from Puerto Rico. All of them got used. They had no idea what a monster this guy was. I listen to a bunch of Latino say that oh he's the Messiah and all this Craziness And I just shook my head and threw my arms up. There's only so much you can say and try to do, but if people don't wanna learn the truth, I guess I'm not the guy to convince him otherwise I just try to put the raw facts out there.

A Case for a Gold Standard Democrats Need to Step Up

The US is in the biggest credit/debt bubble($35T debt and in risk to be $40T+) in global history and at the top of a credit cycle(equity market highs) the Orange Cheeto has decided to inflict the world with a tariff war Shades of the market crash in 1929 coupled with the Smoot Hawley tariffs which led the country into a long term depression bailed out by the way by WWII spending not as Keynesian economists argue that it was JM Keynes

Inflation is not going down and consumers are suffering And the dollar is tanking(dropping below 100 for the first time in 4y and moving into low 10y territory) and foreign investors are nervous about the chaotic activity in government and losing confidence in investing in the US as a country This means that foreign as well as domestic investors are slowly moving away from buying bonds(in order to attract investors in bonds the bond yield has to increase to attract investors to buy our bonds since they taking on risk)

This now sets the stage for a classic debt trap The Fed cannot lower interest rates to deal with inflation….its typical tool to lower the inflation rate….and if the interest rates stay or go higher the government cannot afford the interest rate on the debt particularly if investors are reducing their purchase of bonds

Reintroduction of a gold standard will fix this debt trap that the country faces The reason that gold is going up to higher and higher is because the cost of credit/debt is going higher and the purchasing power of the dollar is going down hence inflation staying the same or going up

Democrats need to make the radical change and work toward re-establishing a gold standard that Nixon took the economy off in 1971 creating 50y period of fiat money, quantitative easing, and excessive government spending without scrutiny And they would find bipartisan support if they campaigned on the issue

He talked about housing, one of the things I like to see about affordable housing is having a choice of tiny homes with recycled material and shipping containers. I personally wouldn't need a 1,000 sq. Ft. House. It would save on the destruction of the environment and it's wildlife. But with everything going up, you might not be able to afford that either.

Expand full comment
Kathy H's avatar

The reason things aren't done differently in most things is because the most profits are made with the markets controlled as they are. But we can't stop talking about & doing other things that can be done, & things that are done in other countries. I remember how exciting alternative energy was in the 70s & people making money kept saying it couldn't be done for so long that people believed it & it wasn't developed. It seems it only will be now once the profits are locked down. But, we can't quit talking about what CAN be done. We can't let them take away our language, our ideas, our spirit, & what we know to be true. We can't believe it can't be done! It can.

Still, he's better than McSally. I just don't want him to be another Sinema. C'mon, Ruben, stand strong and stand tall for all of us! We'll stand with you.

Both of my parents served in WWII in the Navy--my 20-year-old widowed mom (her husband was shot down in June of '44) was the only Mexican Latina in her WAVES class. Dad was a corpsman when they met, and they both took care of wounded sailors and Marines from the Pacific theater at Corona Naval Hospital through 1946.

I know she'd approve of the sentiment (if not my language): Fuck Nazis to hell and back. Happy Mother's Day, Mom.

When my mother gave birth to me in Shreveport, Louisiana, back in 1959, she was in the USA on a working Visa from the UK. She was working as a waitress in a diner, and she SAVED her wages and LIVED ON TIPS, to save up enough money to go back to England to her family, with me as a baby. She was an unwed mother.... my biological father 'shot-through' when she was 3 months pregnant. (typical!) She told me she actually had a gentleman (who knew her story), who used to come in EVERY day for a 30 cent cup of coffee, and left her a $1 tip! She'd managed to save enough by the time I was 9 months old, and so she went home to her family in the UK. Where are all the kind-hearted people like that beautiful gentleman, in the current, extremely divided (thanks to Donald J Trump and his ilk) culture of your country??? It is heartbreaking to watch the country I was born in sink to where they are right now, with this certifiable lunatic and his sycophantic lapdogs doing his bidding, running the country! WTF?!!! It is horrific! I now live in Australia, and became an Australian citizen in 1986.... OUR Country just REJECTED TRUMPISM OUTRIGHT at our recent Federal Election on 3 May, and unseated the Trump-in-Training, Peter Dutton!!! We do NOT want that SHIT here in our country!!! Please, if you value your freedom and your way of life and the opportunity to make your voices heard... PLEASE... PARTICIPATE in the regular, nationwide HANDS OFF Protests to MAKE your voice heard! No-one else is going to save you this time.... it's up to you... ALL of you! Help this grass-roots, people-powered project grow exponentially to AT LEAST 3.5% of the population (11 million people nationally). BE a part of the SOLUTION, rather than the PROBLEM! I KNOW this is a long read, but it is passionate and sincere! Too many elections of good people have been lost by mere apathy! (I guess the BENEFIT we have here in Australia, is that WE have MANDATORY VOTING..... so participation in OUR Democracy is non-negotiable. Worth thinking about for YOUR Country, I believe...)

"Trump’s administration isn’t just economically incompetent—it’s outright hostile to the people who’ve served this country." Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...

Sorry, but I'm not surprised by HIS corrupt attempts to try and push through these ugly a#@ coins for others to buy!

Talk about being a legend in one's mind!!

I seen a few examples of HIS coins, and oh brother.. really??

Pitiful, really pitiful old man!

There's so much more OUR COUNTRY needs to accomplish right now, the GOPNkeeps trying tovpush through their pork filled budget later in the evening by thinking... "Don't worry, no one will see or know what we're up to! WRONG!!

We Americans know what you're doing and it's not good for these GOP members.. and

Incidentally, the Whitehouse is not anyone's personal showroom to sell your overpriced junk, and it's not your personal bank!!

I guess China will no longer be making HIS ties, etc and this could include Melania's merchandise! 🤔🤔

Listening to Senator Gallego, I was gratified to learn just how much he is accomplishing for AZ and, more broadly, for the USA. My next thought: can anyone imagine Kari Lake being even 1/10 at effective? Me either.

I'm currently listening to updated news that trump and his regime wants to send immigrants to Lydia! This must not happen. This must stop. Anyone in the trump regime should be held accountable and tried and sent to prison for this illegal act!

tRump doesn't give a damn about anything beside corruption and getting rich off of it. If any one thinks that he cares about you - you are living in a fantasy world. Wake us Republicans and see what is going on. It sure isn't pretty.

Second one: Should Harris be prosecuted for not closing the border. What fuc___g idiots. The question shoud have been Should Trump and his goonies be prosecuted. YES, YES AND YES.

Off topic, but here is as good as anywhere, Trump "doesn't know" if he is required to uphold the Constitution. Trump clearly did not follow swearing in protocol by leaving his left hand off the book, whatever it was (probably one of those embarrassing Trump bibles). He claims he can run for a third term because he will claim that he was not officially POTUS so it cannot count. According to his calculations, this IS his third term. But - should he survive to 2028 (and I don't like his odds (acually, I love his odds of NOT making it)), he will be running for a fourth term. Next week: I will explain how I can be my own grandmother.

Tell Sen. Gallego for me that it is a little too late for Latino men. They were sold a package of lies they were looking to buy. They were sold the promise of whiteness. Thats right we don't see you like we see the African Americans; you are like us. Oh well!!! How did that work out, and they will buy it again and again, because they want to. Look at the white Cubans in Florida, complaining about deportations. "We were promised!"

Why only nuclear energy? I've seen windmills and industrial solar panels planted in farmers' fields along Interstate Highway 70 in Indiana and Illinois. My question is why don't we have windmills and solar panels on Ohio farmland? Ohio's #1 industry is agriculture!

I’m glad he’s doing something. It’s about bloody time. I was an AZ resident and I voted for him. Frankly, I would never vote for him again. He has not ever even attempted to respond to his constituents. I wrote - multiple times, I called - multiple times , I responded to his bs on his FB page - many times. Zero response to any of my concerns or my neighbors concerns. If he does something meaningful, great. I’ll personally thank him. But i’m not holding my breath. SMH
