Obama was a real statesman, who communicated succinctly and with intelligence and insight. How refreshing it would be to have a mind as great as his in the Oval Office instead of the bonehead currently residing there! Obama’s speech also foretold what is occurring now, and we didn’t heed the caution he prescribed! It makes me sad……
Time and again President Obama warned us: Politico, August 19, 2020 https://tinyurl.com/bnwwcswa "[President Obama] accused Trump “and those in power” of ginning up and feeding off Americans’ cynicism about the government, appearing to blink back tears as he pleaded with voters not to give in to such feelings. “That’s how a democracy withers, until it’s no democracy at all,” Obama asserted. “We can’t let that happen. Do not let them take away your power. Don’t let them take away your democracy.” He betrayed a rare pessimism in the president’s willingness to cling to power, asserting that “this administration has shown it will tear our democracy down if that’s what it takes to win.”
Everyone in my office watched it crammed into my tiny cubicle because I was the only one who thought to log onto a feed early in the morning before they were all overloaded. We watched on a news challenge from Australia.
Bunk. AIPAC, which I despised decades before most people ever heard of it, is a false issue. Caring more about Palestine, which frankly most of these performative "pro-Palestinians" didn't know existed before October 7, 2023, which is weird, than about democracy in America, is what got us here. We can't help Palestine if we can't help ourselves. And apparently these so-called "pro-Palestinians" had their hands over their ears and were humming loudly when Jared Kushner said we should dump the Palestinians in the desert somewhere and take over Gaza "for development."
Technological Nazi Attack on Gerrymandering and Voting
Marc Elias’ interview with Trey Martiinez sheds light on gerrymandering 2.0 21st century style Nobody in the Texas legislature knows where the new maps were concocted and that’s because the new map comes from the RNC computers that are so sophisticated that the old idea of gerrymandering doesn’t hold a candle to the demographic precision that the Nazis are presently using
With that context then Peter Theil’s Palantir platform appears to be a big player in the scheme of “rigging” elections particularly now that the DOJ is demanding state voter rolls There is only one conclusion that can be made after the 2024 election The Nazis are in the process of “rigging” elections so that there will never be an American free and fair election again
This should send a clear message to WE the People We have to organize like WE have never done before to thwart this authoritarian takeover Protest Protest Protest and form coalitions with neighbors friends relatives family Join Indivisible.org and make your voice heard in order to organize the resistance movement Aug13 join One Million Rising put together by Indivisible to help organize the movement Once coalitions are formed then WE the People can begin to boycott companies and governments across the country to demand that oligarchs/authoritarians do not run this country
We need to boycott more than companies. We need to find companies being hurt by this administration's insanity and work with them on a national strike. People need to stop producing for a short time.
We also need to drain the river of taxes going into the federal government.
You don't kill a snake by chopping off it's tail, you kill it by chopping off it's head.
Taxes and production are the head of the Trump snake stop those the snake dies.
This would definitely make an impact, hold back your taxes! Work with local providers only and start boycotting Fox, Facebook, Instagram, any red political platforms period!
Fait already accompli. It's done. We were warned in 2012 that in one more cycle, computer redistricting would be so sophisticated voters didn't matter and democracy was dead. And it died here in Ohio. People like to blithely dismiss us as a red state but we are not. We're a state where voters have been gerrymandered into irrelevance.
The answer is to uncap the House of Representatives. Its been stuck at 435 since the Permanent Apportionment Act of the 1920s despite the population of the country more than doubling since then. That helps counteract gerrymandering as well as rebalances the electoral college.
We must power this redistricting forward. They want Putin to help tRUMP again. They seem to support a cause that would damage our Democracy. Putin and Pedophiles in our governing of America? Lets show them we mean to stop this Republican damage to the United States Of America.
We have to promote highly, loud, and all around everywhere that the GOP are protecting pedophiles who are molesting and raping our little girls. No more "under aged young women." These girls are still children and that is the paint ball that we need to keep plastering them with to protect our children.
Who is running that multi-billion dollar pedophile and sex trafficking ring now? Just because epstein is dead and maxwell is incarcerated (sort of) does not mean that the pedophiles aren't still molesting our little girls. So who is it?
Yes it is, but we have been warning our children of people to avoid since they were born until the headed out on their own and sometimes even after that. So, it's just one more bunch of freaks, crooks, grifters, pedophiles, etc. to add to the pile.
And what we’re democrats doing while republicans spent millions for REDMAP? Absolutely nothing. Democrat leadership is to blame for not investing in state races. State politicians were begging for money but democrats focused on the presidency and congress instead. You got us into this mess now get off your asses and do something about it.
Years ago the reps weren’t cheating. They were investing and working the long game. The dems were sitting on their asses doing little locally. Dems might have won if they competed. Since reps are really cheating and rigging now, I don’t think it is a waste of money to fight back rather than concede.
It would have been nice if the Democratic Party “leadership” had not taken fifteen years to do this. Also, they need to shift the paradigm of their message. “We went to college and we’re smarter than you” is not going to be successful, and the common person’s resentment of this message will continue unabated. So will the endless string of electoral losses in middle-of-the-road areas. The Democratic Party will continue to lose market share if they continue to put up messages that do not resonate with a majority of Americans. Stick your focus groups and political consultants up your collective (garbage cans) and get a clue. Stop supporting candidates that the people dislike, ahem, Andrew Cuomo. Stop supporting equally unpalatable candidates who have outlived their usefulness a la Chuck Schumer. And stop playing by the rules when the other side never will. Get a clue, get back in touch with the people, and only then will you regain power. And when that power is regained, actually use it well. Don’t sit there comfortably while core initiatives get hijacked by fringe elements named Joe Manchin. Stop studying issues to death. Both parties are guilty of not getting stuff done. The only way to regain support of undecided voters is to actually do something to make their lives better. Do something.
This is false. You think the message that government should serve working people instead of billionaires isn't effective? That was Harris's message. It was Sherrrod Brown's message. They lost to "white people aren't privileged enough" and in Ohio "trans people are coming to rape your daughter." There is this myth among observers who haven't been in the arena that Democrats are snooty elites who are too focus-grouped. No — that's the GOP. Democrats have perfect messaging that the media silences in favor of the next bright shiny thing or crazy-ass Trump proposals. One of the reasons we lose is people putting out false ideas like this and dividing our side while MAGA has just one focus: hating "those people."
Well if the Democrats aren’t the elites who are more educated than their competitors, they play into that stereotype very, very well. And if their messaging was so perfect, then why was it successfully shouted down with all the right-wing BS? No, the Dems are the ones with a failure at communicatin’ regardless of how they perceived they presented their message. The problem was not so much that they put out a faulty message, it was in how it was received by the average voters. In case you haven’t noticed, a large swath of the electorate is dangerously under-educated. Kamala Harris presented a logical, fact-supported platform, just like Al Gore did before her. The problem was that many voters get bored easily and tone that out.
I also fail to see how candidates Schumer and Cuomo can play into this same message. Schumer has outlived his usefulness, and Cuomo is every bit as much of an abusing bully as the current president. I know because I have worked for him. The fact that party leadership still present them as their primary candidates shows how tone-deaf they are. It’s not overtly stupid like the GOP, but it is enough to tell people what they really think and whose advice they are following.
I disagree that Democrats are not focus-grouped to death. They continue to talk down to people and then expect their support in return. That they are unable to control the media narrative is the avenue by which the GOP loony-bin crowd has been able to seize power. If progressives or even centrists are ever going to claw back any power, this must change.
They lost to “uncontrolled spending has gone too far” (denying the origins of most of that spending). The only reason this resonated was because Democrats allowed the narrative to be shifted against them. They did not fight back hard enough, and it did not help that they have built a reputation for “we’ve got to do something about (issue), let’s throw money at it until it goes away.” That is an exclusively Democratic reaction mechanism, both sides knew it, and the @$#@!€ party has a field day. Until the progressive side can successfully refute those attacks, they will continue to lose ground. Now that the GOP have once again betrayed their supporters, the Democratic Party must present an alternative message. And that doesn’t mean boring people to tears with supporting facts and data at first- that turns people off. If they can present the way forward, that is a first step, but they have to immediately counter all the cultural BS and lies that the Focks “News” are going to throw at them. I’m talking Gavin Newsom’s immediate countering of right-wing BS. Not Chuck Schumer’s strongly-worded letters and cringe-inducing press conferences. “I agree with Elon Musk,” he said, and 15,000 New Yorkers immediately threw up. Newsom understands how people communicate today. Schumer does not. Party leadership needs to quit listening to political consultants and studies and start listening to actual people.
We need to get rid of the electoral because they do poorly representing the will of the majority.
Distracting needs to be done logically by a neuteral manner without regard to race, political affiliation
The Supreme corrupt court " justices" must be subject to ethics and removed for violations.
We need to get rid of the two party system and do rank choice voting AND have a no confidence option so we no longer have to tolerate rouge house member or corrupt presidents for thier entire term.
Last of all we need to get big money out of campaigns. No more superpacks no more citizens united.
U til we fix our system by eliminating the ways in which officials can cheat and lie we as a country can't be trusted.
Agree with all but getting rid of the two-party system (not the problem and a pipe dream not worth wasting time on) but we are so far away from all that now. I do wish we had public campaign financing, with strict limits on the size of contributions, something the Supreme Court's Citizens United and McCutcheon decisions messed up badly.
GOP can't win fair and square so they cheat. Bunch of losers. Kudos to the fighters. They should come to CA for protection. Newsom will take care of them.
Good man, Newsom. Scares Dump. But he needs a team. Not old men on the front line, negotiating policy. Policy runs the country but Trump won with slogans. A criminal rapist WON with slogans. So did Hitler. They work when people have someone to blame. Sadly people are struggling, and they want to blame. Trump understood this and used it. Do the same, but BLAME THE GUILTY. Narrow it down to 'stupid people'. You can't fight fire with fire. (I'm Australian and I know this!) You fight it with with water. Wash the make-up off the clown. Truth Social is reaching NO-ONE now. It's time. Meidas is doing it. 🇦🇺🇺🇸
Personally, I think all of this is a distraction to keep us from focusing on their already having a way to fuck with the voting machines. I know there are a lot of Nazis in this country, but not a majority.
They will probably do that, too. I read somewhere that felped47 wants new machines going in. Hmm. Think before we leave the voting place, we better check to make sure the vote says who we voted for...perhaps a receipt type of thing. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.
No, no machines were hacked or are hackable. When I worked at my board of elections, we heard this from both sides, and it's a baseless conspiracy theory whether comes from the right or left. Also, states and counties choose and buy the machines, not the federal government. Trump would never in a million years allocate he money required to re-voting machine the whole country. He's have to reverse tax cuts for billionaires afford this!
No, claiming that there is a way to "fuck with the voting machines" is a distraction from what they can do and have done. There is no indication that any voting machines in the U.S. ever have been or can be "fucked with." I've worked at my board of elections. This isn't possible which is why Republicans and their supporters (Putin etc) worked so hard to create false narratives that they spread in social media. I know it's comforting to think we "really won," but that's a Trumpish idea. We didn't. And rather than lots of Nazis, it had more to do with people on our side who were discouraged and stayed home, thanks to being poisoned with false ideas about Democrats or told that Democrats were hapless elites who didn't "have a message."
What happens if there was no gerrymandering? What if districts were divided geographically without the unusual lines created by gerrymandering? I believe geographical boundaries were intended to create the district allotted to each state according to population. How would Dems and GOPs fare in districts and numbers if the lines were formed geographically instead of with gerrymandering?
If not Putin, someone on his Dump's own team. He's old, vicious, and has too much power - a liability because he won't shut up and he's cunning, not clever. They thought they could control him. Ha! There is a criminal cabal in the WH. They remove dead wood when it no longer serves. I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of the thief-in chief's catastrophic health event. (There are lunatics waiting in the wings, but they have no broad support despite their egos...) With so much hysteria over Epstein, something is really wrong and the distractions are getting weirder. The ballroom? FFS! Curious about what they are so afraid of, but it's not important. Maybe it's really is just a magician's trick so the redistricting is ignored. THAT seems to be treated with indifference by most. THEY DON'T GET IT. THEIR VOTES WON'T COUNT. That is the end of democracy people. If anyone believes it's bad now, they have no idea how bad it would be with no Dems working to rebuild. Please help them. In Australia, our Prime Minister is getting brutal treatment in Murdoch's media (and old Rupe owns most of it) but Aus chose to vote against the fascists and Albo is tough, and surrounded by good people. We need America back. Don't waste time attacking the Dems. Help them get it right.
The problem is that the people behind Trump were only able to achieve their goals because MAGA worships him. If he's gone, they don't have anyone else with his weird appeal to those folks. They don't like Vance at all!
True, strangely they are DEVOTED to the rapist. Sadly the disenfranchised aren't moving to the Dems, they are just hating 'politics'. Wonder who they think will repair roads or keep the power grid up if not the government. I know the MAGA lot aren't political and don't like the rest of Trump's ratpack. The Dems have to talk to the people so people feel seen. I have no answers, but the current situation can't continue. The whole world is feeling the angst. I cannot imagine how it must feel to live in the US. 🇦🇺🇺🇸
I did a count this morning on the likely red and blue states and how many "R's" and "D"s that could be replaced in each. The final tally was D's would wipe out the "R's" gains and add 7 more seats. So you would see a shift in the House of Representatives in an "Us vs. Them" fight to be worst case scenario of 224 to 211 favoring the Democrats.
So Abbott can threaten all he wants, we still have them outnumbered and if we could add Wisconsin and Arizona it would put us at 236 to 199. So, they should be really thinking hard about starting this war.

This myth needs to die. It can't be done. Populations don't follow geography. That's not how you draw districts, which represent people, not acreage.
Maybe Putin will poison Trump
Bingo....exactly.
Are they meeting in a 30 story hotel by any chance???
Hope so.
Here’s the problem: Democrats are “keeping all options open”, Rethugs are doing shit
. What’s next, a Schumer strongly worded letter or a strategy session with his imaginary friends “the Baileys”? C’mon Let’s Fuckin Go!
The answer has to be jail time for the entire administration & Musk
There may be some maggot infested food at Alligator Alcatraz for the Orange A-Hole administration to eat.
