Our society is obsessed with dysfunctional people and the chaos they create. Normal, calm people are boring as news items. They don't sell newspapers. Look at what people watch on TV - reality shows, pimple popping, extreme obesity. The more bizarre the better. I can't stand those shows and I think they are utterly worthless and mind numbing. Part of the reason I don't watch them is that I work in a hospital. Trust me, I see that behavior every single day. No way do I want to watch it when I go home and I am not amused/entertained by it.
