Authoritarian movements thrive on silencing, but every attempt to shut down independent media becomes a signal boost. The Meidas community isn’t just resisting, it’s ritualizing truth-telling into a counterforce. When legacy outlets flinch, you step in. When MAGA trolls swarm, you surge. That’s not luck, it’s behavioral clarity.
Keep going. The spectacle wants collapse. You’re building coherence.
At 69, my POV on media is admittedly old fashioned. Much as I enjoy Meidas, its tone had at times in the past turned me off a bit. However, I've become convinced that its tone is EXACTLY what is needed right now. The legacy media seems simply not to have the vocabulary or the verve demanded by the firehose of lunacy, lies and lawlessness being spewed by this administration. Old school journalistic decorum fails to adequately acknowledge how unhinged they are. Thank you for inventing a new paradigm that is up to the task.
I believe that the legacy media is failing at its job not because it's "lacking the vocabulary" but because they're part of the problem; they are owned by the ultra-rich (Bezos, Sultzberger, Murdoch et al) in whose best interest it is to stay on Trump's good side and be aligned with the Right-wing.
I agree…at least as far as some of them are concerned. But I don’t necessarily think that’s the case with, say, the NY Times. I just think it’s untenable for them to write a headline that calls a spade a spade…ie “Everything the president says is sheer bullshit.” Which is where Meidas is not similarly hamstrung. Does that make sense?
It makes sense, but the Paper of Record needs to step up and speak to the reality of the situation: that we're in the midst of a Fascist takeover, by calling a spade a spade. That is possible to do without using vulgar language.
As someome very close to your age,I can honestly say Meidas helped me get back up to date and understand current affairs more clearly. The older style of reporting on current affairs was just too far behind all the twists and turns we have today. Thank You Meidas!! We're with you!!
I want to quote “firehose of lunacy” because that is exactly what it feels like they are trying to shove down our throats, force us to swallow the crazy.
Truthfully, Janet, I haven't totally lost my faith in all of the traditional media and I still rely on it for certain things. But the onslaught of bullshit (pardon my language) being spewed by the administration often seems to overwhelm them and I find myself defaulting to Meidas because they just come out and call it what it is: pure, unadulterated bullshit (pardon my language AGAIN).
On October 15, … Bessent announced … he was organizing a separate $20 billion facility financed by banks and private equity. [This] made little sense. Banks stopped lending to Argentina, one of the most heavily indebted nations in the world, years ago because it is unlikely the country will ever have the means to repay them. Argentina already owes the IMF $60 billion. If banks were willing to lend to Argentina, the initial $20 billion swap from the U.S. government would not have been necessary. Bessent stepped in because Argentina had run out of options. [The] Wall Street Journal details what is really happening. The group of banks assembled by Bessent to help Argentina, which includes JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs, is demanding “some type of guarantee or pledge to ensure they will get their money back.” Specifically, they are asking “if Washington would plan to backstop the facility.” In other words, these banks are willing to lend Argentina money as long as they can keep the profits, while losses are shouldered by U.S. taxpayers. The Treasury Department did not dispute the Wall Street Journal’s report. (Source: Popular Information Substack (Judd Legum) Oct 22, 2025) https://tinyurl.com/bdekftsz)

One possible scenario. The lenders short-fund the transaction by providing $17B to Argentina @ 10%/year interest in exchange for Argentina's promise to repay $20B. The investors receive their money back plus a return of 27% (17%/short-fund differential + 10%/interest), all risk-free because secured by us, the US taxpayers.
Completely disgusting. We bailed out the banks after the recession, and now they are about to ruin us again. Overturn Citizens United. As a sign last Saturday put it so well, "Make Greed a Sin Again."
This totally pisses me off. On Bloomberg radio this morning they just mentioned, Oh, the US is going to help Argentina, with no context regarding the Bessent corruption and bailing out his buddies.
Yup - LOL trolls are everywhere; they’re not known for their spelling prowess… this one probably thinks it’s “clever” bc all the libs will draw the same conclusion; magas-not so much🥱
Just not worth the time. These people are nuts. I no longer care what they think. Don't care what they believe. It's all a lie and until they personally are affected by this JO , they won't stop. I want to know who is gonna stop him.
My initials are also KK, and I'm canceling her out. They're frightened of what's true and how it will deconstruct every belief they, or their families, tribes, have had. We keep moving forward, Meidas Mighty!
The republicans will eventually have hell to pay for selling out their OWN COUNTRY to the orange psycho in the White House. I love that I can do my part by paying to join Substacks for HONEST & VERY COURAGEOUS journalism !!! Every day I try to do more than my part to fight the evil madness. The oligarchy is trying to take it alll for themselves. HORRIFYING !!!
Truth may hurt their ego, but wait till it hurts their pocketbooks. It all depends on whose ox is being gored. My husband just learned that his Medicare coverage for prescriptions has been canceled. He has high blood pressure and heart problems. The reality of the Trump regime/Doge is becoming increasingly visible. We need to broadcast the human toll this is taking on the American people at every turn.
What a bunch of pathetic losers they all are … keep up the good important work MTN always backed up with receipts. Their walls will come crumbling down sooner or later … let’s hope it’s sooner.
Is KK even an American? I've never heard of her, but I don't pay much attention to the MAGA Tweet crowd. More than half of these kinds of accounts come from St. Petersburg, Russia, which is one reason I don't pay any attention to their side of social media.

Absolutely right Johan!! Brilliantly stated!!
Radikal4christ: Jesus knows MTN is a force for good. Apparently you missed that line in your Daily Bread this week.
I appreciate the sentiment, but please don't use ai to write comments...
Not only that, the fools don't understand that by attacking MT, they are just boosting the response algorithms! Oh well.....
Democracy won’t die in the dark, because Meidas shines the light others refuse to
Compelled to repeat my comment from yesterday.
