MICHAEL, HIS HAND WAS NOT ON THAT BIBLE!

Same here. I'm surprised that Michael missed that. Or, maybe it just slipped his mind since every other president has sworn the presidential oath with his hand on the Bible.

Actually, at least one of the founders swore on a book of laws. Some Muslim congresspeople have sworn on the Quran. At least one atheist (state or local politician) swore on the Constitution.

Washington asked for a Bible to swear on because he thought there wasnтАЩt enough gravitas in the inauguration ceremony.

So what? Good people don't need to put their hand on a Bible, Quran, Sefer Torah, amulet, talisman, their own heart, etc. Their deeds prove their character. And the opposite is also true: wearing/speaking/adopting the trappings of a good person don't make you one. How many Christians do you know who are anything but followers of Christ Jesus's teachings?

I know a few Bible spouting hypocrites who call themselves Christians and are anything but.

But Trump isnтАЩt a good person. His greatest malignant strengths are as a con artist and a showman. He blew the optics of a key moment.

Too true -- Trump is a vile, repugnant creature, not even sure he deserves personhood. And you are so right about strengths, which in a good person would be considered weaknesses, wouldn't they? But blowing the optics of a key moment? Don't get that. Had he put his hand on the Bible, it would have confirmed for his accolytes how wonderful he is -- but they already believe that -- and confirmed for the rest of us how awful he is -- but we already believe that.

You are correct. He purposely didn't put his hand on the Bible. As a Maple Mideas even I noticed that. Did that mean he didn't have to uphold the Constitution? I guess from his horrific actions against the working people he .meant that! Hang in American friends. Justice will provide! Just wait to the .midterms when things will change and hopefully with much work by the new party things may return to normal. This is my hope for my American friends.

Exactly!!! Just what I was going to say. Why aren't more people talking, reporting, reacting, to this simple, basic act?

Who cares? He still swore before the world that he would defend and protect the Constitution. A lot of us don't believe the Bible is anything in particular. It certainly isn't "holy."
