Nothing but empty desks and folk going through the motions …. that is ALL THE WORLD SEES on Senate C-Span Channel.

WHAT A WASTE OF OPPORTUNITY.

EVERY DEMOCRATIC US SENATOR SHOULD BE IN THAT CHAMBER AND RAISING HELL LIKE HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN US HISTORY.

That’s HOW WE CRUSH trump & maga.

Use your bandwidth to MAKE IT HAPPEN, Medias folk.

USE IT.

NOW.

Thank you

I've just emailed Marc Elias who knows Senator Schumer quite well. I've begged him to contact the Senator and urge him to leverage the incredibly powerful opportunity he has to make history and call ALL DEMOCRATIC SENATORS to the Chamber and they CAMP THERE until trump's expansive CRIME AGAINST 95% of Americans is defeated.

I've left voicemail for both Senator Schumer and Murray at their DC offices. Given that I'm an American Citizen with no other credentials, they likely won't even bother to listen to the messages.

But, if the Meidas family and Marc Elias and his crew help them realize the gift that they and the American People have been given to perform one of the most powerful acts of non-violent protest in American History, generally, and Senate Legislative History, in particular, maybe they'll cease the moment, as they say.

It's incredulous DT is so ignorant and prejudiced about renewable energy! Taxing wind and solar projects with Congress in agreement to subsidize coal and fossil fuels? I hate that I have to agree with Musk about the destruction of EV battery manufacturing, the loss of hundreds of thousands of good jobs, not to mention harm to the climate, economy, and our future generations!

Expand full comment

You're agreeing with more than Musk, who only cares because it cuts into his profits. The rest are concerned about climate change, the environment, our national security, and our quality of life.

Fishing cultures in Indonesia and boat people. Fish are migrating bc of water temps. Which also kills coral reefs. Loss of barrier islands which protect against severe storms.

And worse, if the global ocean current patterns continue to degrade, we're all screwed. The currents circulate the warm/cool waters between Northern and Southern hemispheres. (Hope I got that last part somewhat right.)

Thank you for adding to my store of knowledge, spurring exploration of these topics you've clarified. Aren't the changing ocean currents responsible for El Nino and La Nina that impact fluctuations in the jet stream and atmospheric currents that can generate atmospheric rivers?

So I did more research, lol. The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation is a system of currents that circulate warm and cold water in the Atlantic. And those currents are interrelated with the occurrence of El Niño and La Niña. If you Google "AMOC and El Niño," you'll find lots of info. 😊

Geez, has DeSantis never been in a tent when it's 90°F and 100% humidity? Sure he has. He doesn't care if they die of heat stroke. Are there ACs? I doubt it. But he was quick to point out there are "showers". Next up: people going into showers and not walking back out. I really do hate these fuckers. 😡

Wonder what DeSantis got for this swamp deal prison? His hand is always out, or his wife’s sure is!

Expand full comment
SFGal's avatar

Totally, totally! I was reading that the feds allot approximately $900/day per imprisoned detainee. Sounds like Erik Prince and the private prison landlords are reaping the billions to be further supplemented in the BBB, which Ron detailed in this exceptional bulletin. I heard that ICE and CBP will be awarded more than even funding for the Marine Corps and as noted herein today more than all provided to the Bureau of Prisons. This is insane!

Expand full comment
Wendymae's avatar

The Miami Herald said that it would cost $265/day to imprison people in those tents. As I understand it, the National Guard would be housed in air conditioned trailers but the tents have none. I am absolutely flabbergasted that ICE will be the largest law enforcement (that I use that term loosely)body if this goes through. It's really terrifying the police state that is being created.

Expand full comment
SFGal's avatar

I wonder if that numerical figure per daily incarcerated person may include the housing costs for the National Guard -- really, they're the ones being paid as wardens in the swamp -- in their separate quarters. Maybe tents are cheaper? This whole nightmare is more than I can comprehend. I just Googled showing $150/day per adult detainee and $315/day for each individual in family detention (I shudder to think what that's supposed to mean). I saw that larger cost in an online newsletter this morning citing about $855/day per individual. I'll do more checking, as I'm sure it's difficult to get straight facts on this issue. Thanks for the heads up! The imposition of a police state before our very eyes is truly terrifying. I'm afraid for so many people I know and then some . . .

When he said there'd be no more elections he warn't kidding, therefore the repugs feel invulnerable even as they cut loose their constituents because, as Bernie said today, they are beholden only to their donor patrons to keep them safely ensconced in office for life on our dime.
