Hey guys, Maine Dem here,..the Trump/Mills exchange wasn’t a phone call, it was in person in the White House, which I’m sure made it all the more intense for her

Other Dem governors should have voiced support for her. It seems that the people with the most chutzpah are of the feminine gender.

Hey.......If this hero leader of Maine is not being appreciated........there is an open invitation for all progressive states to become a Canadian province.......

Maine is on the Red state hate list......like the entire west coast of the USA.

It is mind boggeling........

Amy Green's avatar

And Maine is surrounded by Canada so in case of emergency we could just turn into a Province…maybe no one would notice! 😄

If I was you I'd be proud to call myself a resident of Maine. I like your governor but then again I like anybody who talks back to that 💩 Trump. Go Maine!

I'm a Mainer and I am very proud of her. I wrote and told her so. I am also proud of Senator Angus King. Her gave a great speech a couple of weeks ago about the Constitution. I called and thanked him also. And then there is Senator Collins. I have never known a politician "so very concerned" who does so little for this country. She is up for reelection in 2026. She already has a repug challenger and an indie challenger. I have read that Janet Mills is considering running for Senate. Collins should be VERY CONCERNED.

Susan Collins is the weakest, most ineffectual human being I have ever seen. She said Dumpy "learned his lesson" after his first impeachment. She was shocked when Brett Kavanaugh helped to overturn Roe V Wade because he'd been so sincere during his appointment hearing that Roe V Wade was settled precedent. And she's been very concerned about many things but has never, as far as I know, done anything about anything.

Yes, Angus speaks for many of us who still believe in the rule of law, democracy and just being a decent human being.

I really hope she runs against Collins and wins! I keep imagining what she’d be saying in that seat now…🤔💭 …a girl can dream😆

I am proud to be a Mainer! 🌲But I am simultaneously sad and embarrassed to be an American knowing that a good portion of my fellow Mainers and countrymen voted for DJT rather than VP Harris based on race, gender, economics and nationalism.

Here’s hoping that Governor Mills’ strength was the shot heard round the world. Let trump’s minions investigate my great state for perceived violations of his illegal EO. It was one female Republican Laurel Libby who fired the first volley.

I strongly suspect that she has her eyes on a higher office in Maine—or perhaps Washington.

Laurel Libby studied to be a nurse and is an anti-vaccine advocate??? Some nurse. Personally, I hope her "volley" goes down in flames of measles and flu.

A number of nurses (while not antivaxxers, per se) quit their jobs when they were told by their employers that they had to be vaccinated or they would lose their jobs.

I was thinking that exact thing! Susie has definitely worn out her welcome--her phony "moderate Republican" act is getting threadbare and tattered.

I thought that too. The way he leaned to look at her, and threatened her was just like a mob boss. It turned my stomach. He and musk have broken so many laws, I just don't understand why they don't march into the Oval office and whisk them off to prison!!! They need to be stopped before they are so powerful they can't be stopped, when they kill anyone opposed to them!! Why why why are they getting away with this?!?!

Expand full comment
Jo A.'s avatar

Which “they” would be marching them off to prison? We’re in a “dog chasing its tail” moment where DJT is the FOTUS in charge of the Supreme Court, and with the full backing of the Republican Party.

Another Maine Dem here...Watching Mills stand up to a petulant Trump was very satisfying. The Right will try to turn this into a case of "men should not be playing in women's sports." But when you consider that he is threatening to take funding from everyone's kids over a handful of students, I think she can hold the line that this is a case of standing up for the rule of law. That is exactly what the statement she put out says. I wish I knew how to gauge the support she has in our state. I have become somewhat rabid in my support for her...

She stood tall! I agree with her it is up to the sports organizations to decide if transgender women can compete in the sport. On some sports it WON'T matter, but in some sports it WILL matter. There cannot be any blanket

"Yes Transwomen can compete against girls and women in ALL sports"

nor can there be

"No, no Transwomen can NEVER compete against girls and women in ALL sports"

The governor of Maine has it exactly right. There needs to be nuance and it is the sports organizations themselves the NCAA, etc. who are in the best position and expertise to make these calls.
