I spent 26 years in the U.S. Navy! I am boiling mad when I hear our supposed president say crap like…”Earlier today, CENTCOM shared the news that 3 US military service members have been killed in action. And sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is. Likely be more.”

NO YOU SICK SOB! That is not “the way it is”! These soldiers would be alive today, probably happily at home with their families, if you hadn’t started this stupid war! YOU tore up the working nuclear treaty with Iran! YOU screwed over our allies! YOU LIED about Iran’s capabilities! YOU started Operation Epic FUBAR with no coherent plan and no realistic objectives, and now American Military Families are grieving the loss of their loved ones! And then you put out a poll asking citizens how many soldiers, sailors, and airmen could die in the conflict before they say Enough! Well here’s your answer you demented, incompetent, Draft Dodger…ZERO!!!

JohnC-Va's avatar

Bravo! I don’t know where you stand politically, but every single one of those who STILL support this demented criminal sack of dogshit should be saying the same thing. In exactly your words.

Oaktown's avatar

I'm haunted by the old question: What if we started a war but nobody came? The biggest horror of all has been to see how quickly the rich and powerful fold in the path of tyrants.

Pat Robinson's avatar

Thank you for your service. And your wise words. They have much deeper meaning from from someone who has served.

As an Air Force mom who sends packages to all of our military on TDY, they just want to get through it & get back to their loved ones. Noone thinks they were sent to die. I'm waiting for just 1, only 1, high ranking member of the military to call out these lies being told by the govt & msm. ENOUGH!!!!

Europe’s response to the US-Israel strikes on Iran tells you everything.

They’re not silent because they don’t have opinions, they’re silent the way you go silent when someone on the street pulls out a knife and starts talking to themselves (I’m from chicago, I’ve seen this happen). You don’t engage. You cross the street. You make sure your own house is locked.

The United States has become that person, and Europe is backing away with the quiet, deliberate calm of someone who has stopped expecting the situation to resolve itself.

The strategic irony is that this accelerates exactly what Russia feared most:

a Europe that stops outsourcing its security and starts building its own.

Every reckless US move: launching a major combat operation against Iran while actively in nuclear negotiations with them, without allied consultation; is another argument for European defense autonomy. Russia bet on Western fragmentation. What it may get instead is a Europe that finally takes itself seriously, no longer anchored to an unpredictable partner.

The honest bottom line: America has spent the credibility it accumulated over 80 years in roughly 18 months. And Europe’s careful silence isn’t diplomatic caution…it’s what you sound like when you’ve stopped expecting someone to return to who they were.

Jeanne Hodgson's avatar

🇨🇦Johan, we're all backing away from; 'America'. We're tired of being bullied by this; 'REGIME'. We have moved on to better trading partners. Ones that will not bully but accept what we have for what they have.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the American people. We like our neighbours and wish we could visit like used to before; 'dRump' was elected again in 2024.

Now they want to fingerprint us and take a mug picture of us and who knows where it ends up. Probably someone using our identity for fraud. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

No, we know what 'dRumph' is up to with this invasion on; 'IRAN'. Its called a diversion from the; 'TRUMPSTEIN, EPSTEIN, MAXWELL FILES'. If high ranking officials in Europe, are being named and resigning from their posts why isn't happening in; 'AMERICA'?

No one should be above the law. Not even the; 'Sitting President'. If they can do that to former; 'Pres. Clinton' they can do it for; 'dRumph.

We don't want to say good bye, but we don't have a choice.

Johan's avatar

You’re seeing it exactly right, and your country isn’t alone. Denmark prepared for war WITH the U.S. after Greenland threats. Europeans are building defense alternatives because American reliability became existential threat. Brain drain accelerating as talented people choose democracies that still function over oligarchic capture.

The fingerprinting/mug shots for visitors? That’s the regime treating allies like suspects while Trump properties get Saudi billions and UAE investments. Your instinct about the Epstein diversion is dead-on…UK arrests former prince within weeks of accessing files, Congress could force testimony, but DOJ says “move on to healthcare” while Trump bombs Iran.

This isn’t about American people vs the world. It’s about a captured regime using state apparatus for personal enrichment (Gulf monarchies literally purchased this Iran war through “investments”) while constitutional constraints evaporated. You’re protecting yourselves by diversifying away from unreliable partners—that’s just rational statecraft.

The tragedy: Americans who still believe in rule of law, democratic principles, international cooperation are trapped watching their government become what allies flee from. We don’t want you to go either. But we understand why you must.

And those of us Americans who get, get you, too. It's ok.

Fraser's avatar

We're too busy to fight Trump-he is irrelevant and the more people hate what he does the more he does it! We're moving on! He will let chaos happen there but at least the Mullahs are away from the people and the nukes!

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

Ah but they’re not.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

And why is Carney lending his even verbal support to This war???

Fraser's avatar

Like I said-silence now says everything! We just want to buy some time to make some headway without dealing with Trump's fragile ego looking for a distraction as well.

How is the protesting going?

Declan's avatar

Europe isn't stupid enough to make themselves 'targets' by supporting a nebulous conflict rationale.

Johan's avatar

Anonymous's avatar

Too many Americans' thinking is insular. They believe that things will go back to "normal" after the eventual regime change in Washington. They won't. Former friends and allies may continue making deals if it is in their interest. But the trust is gone, as is the goodwill. People don't forget betrayals.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

If we dig out from under the current pile of shit that’s on top of us now, the US will need to take a good look at what got us here if anything’s to change. Getting money out of elections will need to be the second thing on the agenda after our own Nuremberg.

Jean Conley's avatar

Unfortunately, you're right. The Democrats (or even those RepubliCRAPS who aren't loyal to the Dump) can do all they can (government & otherwise) and try their hardest to "get things back to the way they were," but no matter how much 'fixing" is done, it will never be good like it was. Trump the Dump Deranged Psycho A**h*** has totally ruined EVERYTHING for us Americans--and actually, out allies (if they still are, that is), too..

Fraser's avatar

Biden had to redo everything with allies etc but this time Trump is making sure the US will be screwed for a long time! Get ready for more anti-American terrorism world-wide!!

Jean Conley's avatar

Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barb O's avatar

I understand that Iran was supplying weaponry to Russia. If this is so, most likely Iran will stop that and keep their weapons for their own conflict. Good news for Ukraine if this is so.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

It’s not likely, since it looks like the regime is about as likely to change as Venezuela’s has. Trump will stop when he gets what he wants - maybe money, approval for his taking over Gaza, and very possibly Iran claiming it meddled in our elections so he can move again to federalize them. It may also be that he’s welcoming of the terrorism that’s likely to arise from this as it would potentially enable him to call a national emergency and cancel or federalize elections.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

These are the only ways to analyze the motives for this action- through the lens of the only things Trump cares about : power and personal financial gain. Anything else is bullshit.

Bob's avatar

He thinks if this works out, it will be part of his legacy. It will be part of it, but not in the way he thinks. The whole thing being at the behest of Israel and the Sauds doesn’t make it better, it makes it worse. Trump doesn’t read briefings, he doesn’t take advice, he only believes in what he thinks and he trusts nobody else.

Nancy Endersby's avatar

You made some good points for sure

Bob's avatar

I’d say the chances of the Iranian regime falling anytime soon are slim. There’s a greater risk of the country plunging into civil war.

Fraser's avatar

I think Trump wants this to drag on-he has really poked the bear, and somehow he will justify everything including Epstein, teriffs etc. because he is too busy fighting a war-including elections, except he will fail as he usually does because people are done!!

Jean Conley's avatar

Absolutely--and there are only two ways--one is to be impeached, convicted, locked in prison WITHOUT ANY WAY TO BROADCAST/COMMUNICATE TO HIS NAZI/COMMUNIST (mainly American) ALLIES outside of it, or to die OR to die IN prison.

Pat Robinson's avatar

I think/hope you are right that Europe, Canada, Mexico, Korea and all our former allies are quietly moving away. No need to get and shout about what you will do, just quietly do it. I think one quiet aspect of what is going on is the brain drain away from America...again, no big reports or news stories, just once in a while you will see a short story about highly educated folks leaving the US including doctors and nurses. They just do it quietly, no fanfare. But the impact on the US long term will be devastating. They will not come back.

Fraser's avatar

More of what Hitler did and Trump wants-he hates talent anyway!!

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

Carney has endorsed this Trump outrage.

Pat Robinson's avatar

I am so disappointed by that. I know everyone is entitled to one mistake, but that's a huge one.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

Sadly, the UK is allowing the US to use its bases for this operation. This may help explain the strike in Cyprus and more may be coming. Starmer is the dumbest of the European leaders. Wish the Epstein saga would take him out.

Johan's avatar

The strikes in Cyprus weren’t retaliation for UK support…Cyprus hosts British sovereign bases but Iran struck there because it’s the nearest Western military infrastructure to Iranian territory.

Iran’s hitting everything within missile range: six Arab countries (Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan) plus US/UK bases across the region.

Starmer’s involvement is despicable, yes, Labour abandoning any pretense of independent foreign policy. He’s following the pattern: when Trump demands support, compliant governments provide it regardless of strategic sense or public opposition. France, Germany staying quieter mean they’re just more cautious about visible association with illegal regime change.

Amy Cohen MD's avatar

This isn’t about regime change. Not for Trump. He could care less about the Iranians or the “spread of democracy”. People thought taking Maduro was about regime change. Ha! They don’t get Trump.

Your last story has been one that has driven me crazy for months! If that singer girlfriend is making money in her work she should have to pay for a security detail. The American people shouldn’t have to pay for her to make money!! Kashmir Patel is just one of all of this regime that is causing Waste, Fraud and Abuse of our tax dollars.

Oaktown's avatar

Somebody should pull Patel's coat and tell him she's only his girlfriend because of the perks he's lavishing on her—perks that he could never provide but for his unearned and undeserved position in a tyrannical govt.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Fox: “If we lose anybody in this operation, they will die a noble death because they will have sacrificed their lives to make us safer here at home.”

So Lady G…how much time have you spent in the military (outside of a few one night stands with servicemen you picked up in a South Carolina bar)? As a retired military officer I will tell you point blank that people who wax poetic about a serviceman’s “Noble Death” have NEVER willingly put themselves anywhere near harm’s way! Shut the “F” Up about things you will never know anything about!

Wilfred Owen got it right:

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, –

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

To children ardent for some desperate glory,

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Pro patria mori.

It isn't too difficult to figure out what is behind the attack on Iran. It was led by two aging men--one a convicted felon who fears prosecution if he is no longer the leader of his country and one whose criminal trial has been suspended while Isreal is at war. Both need the drama of a war to forestall consequences of their own apparent criminality if conflict ends. . And little girls in a school in Iran are dead because of it.

Oaktown's avatar

Can't forget the fact our tyrant is planning to steal the 2026/8 elections; he will not hesitate to use the war and chaos he causes as an excuse.

I dunno about Bibi, but wouldn't be surprised; he's financially corrupt as hell, but then again if these guys know what the Mossad will do, why would they expose themselves to blackmail?

Kristopher Giesing's avatar

Regarding casualties:

You should report also on the civilian casualties inflicted on Iran. Drop Site has reported on both a girl's school and a gym, neither of which had any obvious proximity to legitimate military targets, and in both of which cases the casualties were particularly vulnerable civilians:

https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/iran-lamerd-sports-hall-teenage-girls-killed-us-israel-war

Beyond the heartbreaking human cost, this is political stupidity, because what Iranian learning about this would have any trust to place in a US brokered regime change?

I wondered why Bone Spurs would attack Iran who's been providing Putin—Donnie's best bud—with drones. Until I realized Bone Spurs' military advisors told him we didn't have adequate munitions to wage a war with Iran. Well, how convenient for BS to now claim he can no longer provide ammo to Ukraine, plus attacking Iran will predictably raise oil prices, which had fallen and put Putin's economy in desperate straights.

bLUEduRham's avatar

But will they really lay it at his feet? My bet is they’ll find someone (perhaps a certain resident of Delaware) to blame. He is them. Except for the wealth and power.

Oaktown's avatar

I take your point, but am seeing some of them flee the sinking ship already, largely over the Epstein files coverup, which was a huge part of MAGA's agenda (not to mention no more foreign wars, which they can't blame on anyone but Bone Spurs). I also don't think they'll be able to blame Biden or the "left" much longer for their economic woes, and at the very least, that could keep them from voting at all.

Ben showed a funny X tweet this morning on YouTube, which went something like this: "If you start a nuclear war we will crawl out from under the ashes as six legged mutants demanding the release of the Epstein files."

" ... As the House moved toward a vote on releasing the Epstein files last summer and fall, the White House and top Trump allies launched an effort to forestall it that lawmakers told me was unprecedented in its intensity and scope. [which shows you how worried they are]

"Massie called it a “360-pressure campaign,” one felt not just by him and his staff but anyone associated with him. One tactic he had not experienced before: Some of his key staff members were suddenly offered more prestigious jobs in the Trump administration or more lucrative jobs in the private sector—the idea being that if Massie no longer had a full staff, he couldn’t pursue ambitious legislation.

"Massie recalled asking an employee who, a few weeks before the vote, had received an employment offer that would double his salary: 'Did it ever occur to you that they might be offering you this job to basically make me less effective?' He said the young man sheepishly replied: 'That’s what my mom said.' He turned down the offer and finished writing the bill." ...
