I didn’t make my comment to compare myself to others, or to denigrate the direction people choose for their path in life.
It is a direct comment to the obviously lazy,
Racist, narcissistic “feel good in the moment “ people who get all of their information on Tik-Tok & don’t even know how to truly do a deep dive on any subject that they might be discussing. I recently watched a news report where they were interviewing the protestors at a pro-Palestinian rally. As the interview progressed, the questions started to lean towards “why is Israel doing this in Gaza?” They asked 6 different students about their thoughts on the Holocaust and how that might influence the Israeli response to the initial attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
5 of the 6 didn’t know what the Holocaust was. “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME”??
It’s not only an indictment of our current education system but it just personifies the massive “emptiness” of so many people’s quest for knowledge. The reality is they don’t want to truly understand anything that doesn’t give them immediate gratification. If these are indeed the “leaders of tomorrow “ we are truly doomed as a democracy. I made many mistakes on my professional journey, M-A-N-Y…but I never blamed someone else, or attacked others for their beliefs, I took responsibility for my choices and tried to make sure I never made the same mistake again. Yes my business was a success. Yes it was a very gratifying journey. But I worked my ass off, always tried to increase my knowledge of as many different subjects as possible, read about the leaders of the past and how they came to be so incredibly selfless, and just tried to be a well rounded part of our incredible country. I never judge, but I will always try to tell the truth. And not my truth, but knowledge and truth based on FACTS!
