Agreed. However, and unfortunately, in the history of America extremely little has ever been accomplished without ultimately SOME measure of violence being involved. MLK’s peaceful protests are the correct approach but, I fear that saving Democracy at this point will require something else now.

I’m just curious. Take up arms? Civil war? When? After 1/2 of the population has been sent to “detainment Center’s”?(see concentration camp) Or after most of the seniors, veterans, and marginalized population have been killed off by lack of food, disease, medical care, floods, fire, etc. Also, who will lead the charge? Billions are spent dropping bombs daily, supporting wars started by genocidal war criminals who are no different than themselves. That’s one of the few things keeping tRump’s economy from crashing faster. Ironically, a military style storm sounds good to me, but see if he rings up the National Guard this time. I’ve said it before, I’m all for peaceful protests Gandhi or MLK style, however, Che Guevara and Mandela had a method too.

I fear we are only one or two ICE raids gone very wrong from armed conflict in this country. Years ago a friend of mine who was a police lieutenant at the time told me he didn't see how we could avoid another civil war and perhaps we were already in it but didn't realize it. His words have come back to haunt me for the last six years.

At 84 I'm not a very good shot and I have no guns anyway, but my state was part of the underground railroad during the first civil war . I can see that coming back, perhaps in different ways than before but being a useful tool. Remember. "old age and treachery can/will overcome youth and skill". Seniors have studied civics, have lived through several wars and have read about the resistance movements in other countries. We bring different skills to the table so don't counts out. We know what's at stake!

No argument here... They’re trying to get rid of us. In the next few years, most jobs will be automated, and they’ll either have to pay people to do nothing or start eliminating us—beginning with the elderly.

During COVID, they wanted the older generation to sacrifice themselves for the economy. Now they’re suggesting we pick vegetables instead of migrant workers.

I, too, lost a son when he was 23. It is something you never get over, but learn to live with. We, as parents, believe that our children will bury us, not the other way around. I have been praying for those lost and those left behind every day and will continue to do so. I pray that someday, they will heal and life will get a little better. I pray that their angels will guide them from heaven. God Bless

Connie: Just remember your son as though he is still here, because he is. Not in the physical sense, but as a child that you gave birth to, that you raised and loved. That love never goes away. We can talk to the children that we lost, we can feel their presence and we know that they hear us. I believe that they, also, guide us when we need it. When I can't find something that I am looking for, I ask my son to show me where it is and sure enough I find it. He has never failed me and I thank him daily for being a part of my life. For allowing me to be his mother and I never stop saying "I love you." The worst thing that can happen to a parent is to lose a child and that is why we have to pray for those that have. Much Love back to you.

How can these people running your country (I live in Aotearoa New Zealand) be so callous, so disrespectful about human life? It boggles the mind. But given they think nothing of separating children from parents why would they care about children in a camp? Thoughts and prayers are useless. Miss Cosplay is an embarrassment and has no concept of the truth.

Conservatives in this country are pennywise and pound foolish. This area of Texas is prone to flooding. Its happened many times. In 2019 a similar flood happened and the Conservatives decided installing Air Sirens along the river was too costly. Now Texas will pay out 10 times that much in lawsuits. This is their standard practice and offer "Thoughts and Prayers" to the families they destroy. And those Conservative Family's keep voting these death mongers back in after they kill their children. I've watched this over and over in my 61 years. I came from a Conservative family and left the Party at 19 and my niece and nephews have too. Conservatives in the US waste money like crazy. See our Idiot-in-Chiefs latest BIG AWFUL SPEND FEST Tragedy that just passed. Millions of people foreign and domestic are going to die over the next 3 1/2 years. It isn't safe here as millions of people will be thrown of their anti-psychotic medicine, lose their food access and they all own guns. What could happen?

Pennywise and pound foolish is an old fashioned saying worthy of Ben Franklin, who convinced people that it would be beneficial to pool their resources for a fire department and then fire insurance. It seems people have to be retrained to understand that government has a legitimate purpose.

I was impressed with the way Professor Ben explained how the federal government operates during disasters.

GOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON:

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump regime. Together, we’ll remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.

Coined by civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis, "Good Trouble" is the action of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change.

The civil rights leaders of the past have shown us the power of collective action. That’s why on July 17, five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, communities across the country will take to the streets, courthouses, and community spaces to carry forward his fight for justice, voting rights, and dignity for all.
