Your post made me think of an article about double speak that I read, probably years ago now, maybe during trump's first term. I didn't find it; but, best as I can I will try to repeat what was said.
The article basically wrote down a rather long portion of one of trump's rally speeches. (Keeping in mind that Weaving was not a word used then) In it, in one section he promoted one idea and in a few sections later actually promoted a different idea about the same subject.
The author of the article said that what happens is that the people who agree with the first idea discount or don't even hear the second idea. Those that discount the first idea only "hear" the second idea.
The selective listener then comes away with a positive impression because they have only heard what they wanted to hear. The article that I cited above gives many examples of this although not written exactly as I remember.

Your post made me think of an article about double speak that I read, probably years ago now, maybe during trump's first term. I didn't find it; but, best as I can I will try to repeat what was said.
The article basically wrote down a rather long portion of one of trump's rally speeches. (Keeping in mind that Weaving was not a word used then) In it, in one section he promoted one idea and in a few sections later actually promoted a different idea about the same subject.
The author of the article said that what happens is that the people who agree with the first idea discount or don't even hear the second idea. Those that discount the first idea only "hear" the second idea.
The selective listener then comes away with a positive impression because they have only heard what they wanted to hear. The article that I cited above gives many examples of this although not written exactly as I remember.

The 218 in the House is for forcing a vote to release the Epstein Files. They could try impeachment but it will fail in the Senate because we don't have the majority there. With everything his is doing, the Senate and House will be ours in 2026. Then hopefully instead of just impeaching him, use the 25th amendment and remove him altogether.
Sorry, but I think it is a real long shot to win the Senate majority in 2026, and there is no chance to get the 67 senators needed to convict Trump. However, majority control of the House means that Trump and his people will be investigated six ways to Sunday, and he won't be able to control appropriations. He will be the lamest of lame ducks for the last two years of his term. And he knows this, so he has to keep a Republican House in 2026. Which is why he and his cultists are cheating with re-districting and more and more voter suppression.
