Because I suffer from lifelong anxiety and depression, I’ve needed to avoid any political content since 11/5. I contributed till it hurt and exhorted everyone in my large family to honor the legacy of my Suffragette grandmother and vote, even though we all live in various blue states. I’m an old civil rights, Vietnam War, women’s rights protester. But I am slowly accepting the big picture that the need for class struggle has reached a new level of necessity. So I am tiptoeing back into to the MTN community to find strength and perseverance and hopefully a new vision. We must carry on!💙☮️🌈

It's hard. Take breaks and always take care of yourself first and then gear up again. I have turned off all notifications except for MeidasTouch and Simon Rosenberg. I cancelled LA Times and WA Post. They keep sending me emails offering me discount after discount. I subscribe to NY Times for games only and even they sent me a discount offer for their news. Nope. I became a paid subscriber here. Stepping away for me, didn't give me the peace I thought it would give me. So, here I am. Oh yes, I deleted Twitter/X account. Be well. 💙

I deleted my Twitter account, when trump won the first time. It was such garbage anyhow, and I got so bored with all the moronic trash talk.

I'm a Meidas Touch Network fan, from here, on out. They are my only source now, for the truth 💙💙💙💙💙💙

It is called “ engagement “, advertisers see that , the more engagement the more they advertise stuff , that is why I deleted my accounts, I support only things that I personally consider important, like the Meidas Touch and Counter Social , if you haven’t tried Counter Social you should, there are many perks , we have there “ Alfred “, that is an AI program, we had it way before Twitter had “ Grok”, we have movie nights , breaking news and more .

Wow. Here I thought I was in the loop. No idea about Grok and I thought Alfred was Batman's faithful butler. I am still easing back in to apps. Deleted Facebook years ago and zI am rarely on Instagram. I am starting to go to Bluesky occasionally but I suspect it will turn into another Twitter - hope I am wrong. Thank you for the info.

Yes, Alfred is the name of Batman’s butler, but there in Counter Social we have fun , we talk about serious issues in a funny way, and we are way ahead of everybody else, the owner is a former hacker so he knows what is going on.

I have the same and I was too afraid not to feel I’d engaged everyday. I haven’t been on X since 11/4/24, FB shortly after the 2020 election and only on Instagram a few times since 2020.

X was so bad for the day to day debilitating symptoms of my illness. I actually feel more empowered here and I still engage!

Whatever anyone does don’t read The Post article today about this very topic. I can’t remember the name but it was about the no resistance movement happening. I was actually offended which I normally ignore because of the source. My subscription ends in a few. Point: bias, no mandate, silence is a message, and no, you dumb ass I’m not accepting anything. But, mental illness or health requires far greater consideration and constraint than we all had in 16/20 and the drum beat needs to stop or they win.

I like to remind myself how many names, insults and rage came without my consent to be harassed but I did because I was logged on.

We all know this won’t be easy and how many times I asked MSM to stop his oxygen. It’s their fire to a large degree! This will be our stoic response versus a reptilian brain response this time. At least mine!!

Thanks for your sharing and to the MN!! Keep going!!!

MrsCQ's avatar

Leave it to papers like the WA Post to spin our leaving as a bad reflection on us. If that is the case, why the constant discount offers after I terminated subscription? Hang in there. I am trying. 💙💙

Randy S. Eisenberg's avatar

As far as the Post piece goes (I dropped em too, so I go by the summary) one way to help build a resistance is to deny it exists, ignore it, hope it goes away, and then try to stop it after it’s too late. Simple.

I'm a Canadian citizen who is 64 today 🥳 but follow American politics very closely as we're good friends and our economies are fully intertwined and any trump tariffs will get a swift retaliation from the Canadian government. But these tariffs are going to start a Global trade war which no country will win and the average citizen will pay deeply. I hate Donald Trump with a passion and his brainwashed and brain dead maggot Republican cult members who believe his constant lies and conspiracy theories 🙄 There's not a lot I can do from Vancouver to help or improve your cause but just know 99% of CANADA is behind you and we all love and appreciate meidas and cohen and the rest of the crew. This community is powered by something more powerful than any corporate media mogul could understand sipping on a scotch on a private yacht somewhere: love of and belief in humanity and democracy. Corporations are built on a foundation of “eat your own to advance.” Democracies are the opposite. We appreciate you! Keep it going!! 💪🏻

I have helped rescue over 15,000 dogs in the past 25 years. I'm also a long-time animal rights activist. There are things I have learned that made me effective.

1. The only way out is through. This is the biggie. You can't sit it out. You don't stop. You keep moving forward. Obstacles aren't problems, they are challenges. The only way out is through.

2. Squeaky wheels get the grease. When you are working for something bigger than yourself, make noise. It's not about you. Swallow pride and speak loudly when you know bones to brains that you are in the right. Echo chambers don't exist when you are working for the greater good. Your ideas/words might only need to reach one certain person who has the ability to make a big impact on your mission so be squeaky.

3. Own all mistakes. Learn from them. Grow. But don't dwell on them. This is part of moving forward. You will always be your own worst critic. Be honest and ethical in your work. Go to bed each day knowing you did something to make the world a better place.

4. You will have days when it feels like the weight of the world is on you. It's OK to take some time for yourself. For many years I have made it a habit to find one beautiful thing each day. It can be as simple as a leaf, a flower, my dog, a song I heard...just one beautiful thing.

5. Never underestimate the power of a dog to make everything better.

I am very thankful for The Meidas Touch and all the contributors who work to make this literal grassroots pro-democracy movement work. I'm excited to see what we can all do together.

#5 is so true.

Actually I like all your points Number five speaks to my heart

Thank you for rescuing all those dogs.

My favorite breed and all I have gotten are rescue breeds.

They break my heart as you can tell all the abuse that they have been through.

Yet, they end up being the best dogs and every dog who has come into our lives has left it loved.

I agree too the squeaky wheel. Everyone keep squeaking.

Write your senators, congressman, president, keep squeaking.

Something that's been on my mind that I would like to see brought forward, is that in all the talk about how being a child or adult sex predator seems to be mandatory to be a Trump team player, I've seen zero conversation about the often life-long consequences to the emotional health of the girls and women. Could you interview some trauma experts to elevate that conversation? One because it's important and two b/c strategically, it could help break thru the noise.

I have just one critique. The youtubish splash pages kind of drive me batty and I feel like it dilutes professionalism. They are too click bait and I feel like it just melts into all the other channels. I'd like to see more professional splash pages for your videos. Something that will make people appreciate what they are watching more. Just my 2 cents. Personally I feel they cheapen what you are doing.

I just think if we are at the point where we are discussing filling a vacuum or void of mainstream media maybe it's time to look at branding. If you want to take it to that level of seriousness it's time. I honestly refrain from sharing the videos sometimes because I don't think people will look at it as something serious. Their audience isn't supposed to be youtube addicted tweens. I'm not concerned about them changing how they conduct their videos but the splashpages bug me. There is a foothold for them to grow and I just think if they want their content to be taken seriously then they should brand it towards their audience.
