Meidas Touch needs more diversity, rich white men are already destroying the country. Katie Phang is fantastic. AOC/Crockett 2028! https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/aoc-crockett-2028

Oh for heaven's sake. Terry Moran deserves merit based on his standing as a journalist, not for his gender. Diversity coupled with meritocracy is a great thing, but shutting out rich white guys just because they are rich white guys? That's retribution and it is counter-productive.

He's the one that put dumpfon the spot on tv about the MS_!# fake tattoo. He did not let it slide and kept prodding dumpf for the correct answer. And of course that never happened. We need all the help we can get to get the truth out about all this crap.

Oh I understand it and I also support diversity. But this discussion centres on the fact that it is misguided to deny someone of merit consideration based on their gender, or the sins of their gender. I get the point, but it is the wrong point in this discussion.

Why must Terry Moran join Meidas Touch?

Terry Moran has distinguished himself as an independent journalist, and might do best to capitalize on that just as Jim Acosta, Don Lemon and Joy Reid have done!

Joe Rogan, the footsteps you hear are those of Terry Moran!

I don't think all rich white men should be lumped together. I think there are some very good people that are rich, white, men. I don't think we should ever lump a group of people together as if they are all the same.

Isn’t this what we’re fighting against. Racism and discrimination. Just because the guy’s white and has money doesn’t exclude him from the truth seeking population. He called out Trump in an interview recently with him. Terry Moran wouldn’t budge when Trump kept telling him to say what he wanted him to say. He stood his ground. This is where, I believe, the first thought of retaliation came to Trump’s mind. I’m for anyone who calls out Trump and seeks truth.

Dear white people: Can you stop being so defensive? Public Servant said "Meidas Touch needs more diversity." S/he's right. No one's criticizing Terry Moran's credentials -- but if you don't get that white defensiveness helped get the U.S. into the mess it's in, you need to pay more attention. Thank you.

P.S. I'm white. I started paying close attention in April 1968, when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated and I was only dimly aware of why he was so important. I was not quite 17 at the time.

Again, discrimination on any basis is a problem. The topic here is a specific journalist whose excellence merits him attention. That is a separate issue from the need for diversity. You are conflating the positive of diversity with Terry Moran's being targeted by Trump, being fired as a result by his employer, and then being encouraged to join MTN.

Like so many white USians, you're not getting it. Discrimination by those in power is far more important than discrimination by those who aren't in power (which might sensibly be called "self-defense"). This should be obvious, with white Christians claiming that they're being discriminated against. What they're complaining about is that they're being deprived of the privilege to which they consider themselves entitled. If this is not obvious to you, please read a little more U.S. history.

Just for the record, not a USian. I do get it. The problem here is you are commenting on related but different issues, not whether Terry Moran should be vilified for being a white, older man, in spite of his impressive journalistic credentials, because other older, white men have behaved badly.

Public Servant thinks that the world must be exactly what s/he considers to be 100% pure-no exceptions!

Haven't keyboard activists done enough damage by insisting that anyone who doesn't meet their ever changing demands must be canceled?

First of all, should I be thanking you for stepping up to set us "white people" posters straight? I'm not sure if I want you to represent me. Include a photo,an essay and something about what you've done in your life with our mutually shared white privilege. Oh, also make certain to tell me where you grew up and where you live, and your ethnicity, and religion affiliation or spiritual or not spiritual belief. And are you single, married, divorced, have children? Are you LGBTq2a. Just a sentence or two about each will do. Are you Pro-Choice, and for gun control?. Do you believe in gender dysphoria? And what's your favorite book? Have you traveled internationally?

Another thing. Perhaps Public Servant doesn't need or appreciate you speaking to "us" white people--actually, no reason to assume that Public Servant isn't one of "us", is there now? That just occurred to me! Hmm... I bought into your assumption (?) seemingly.

Onto Public Servant's post!

The second half of Public Servant's sentence: "rich white men are already destroying the country" is an opinion. A judgment. Nothing wrong about that, although, it does give a "slant" shall we say, to the section you quoted:. "Meidas+ Touch needs more diversity..." I mention that because you obviously missed that.

Have you heard of the psychological term "projection?" I didn't sense any defensiveness in the responses I read--albeit I read from newest post down--so perhaps I'll encounter a "self-identified"white person who sounds defensive after I post this.

Of course everything I've said is my subjective take, specifically my take on you. So, sadly, Susanna, you don't have permission to be this " Jewish, Boomer woman, born and bred NYer, mostly lived on the West Coast, retired teacher, and writer's spokeswoman. I'm sure others might be proud to have you speak for them. Well, not really. I was trying to be polite and uplifting. I'm just not very good at pretense. But after another day of Trump insanity, I felt the urge to have a little "creative" fun composing this response rather than allowing myself to be triggered by it.

Sorry if no one else was amused!I just reread it, and I was amused. Lol!

OK, but nobody NEEDS more diversity, not if they have to search for the right combination of attributes. Diversity mean NOT excluding people for their attributes.

Terry Moran isn't destroying the country! He's trying to alert viewers to the fact that Trump is looking to destroy the country.

I really like Katie Phang's style of journalism, and have subscribed to her YouTube.

I also think Terry Moran would be an excellent addition to the MTN.
