Thank you! I don’t believe there is such a thing as a bleeding heart liberal. I believe liberals have a heart. We stand with you.

Michael, my dad was 15 when he was sent to the concentration camps for Japanese Americans the last time this law was invoked. I stand with you against the Orange Hitler.

Mr. Hashimoto, thank you for your personal testimony of the darkest shame inflicted by America on its law abiding citizenry of Japanese descent. I was a small child in those days and unaware of that travesty. American history is not simply a string of heroic tales, but includes all the seven deadly sins plus a few more of recent vintage.

May we never repeat such a travesty against our fellow citizens.

To me the very worst part of that was that they permanently lost their homes and land when they were sent away.

Barbara's avatar

And that was done without due process as well. Wartime urgency was the principle which they used to justify it then. With all the old laws called into the present situation, we might expect some group of citizens to be deisenfranchised and stripped of their property and possessions and rights once again by this "regime." He is no student of history....BUT he is well accustomed to personal greed and grift. Without accountability so far. So FAR/

But we are, just in smaller numbers. So let's not give up the fight, let's not get discouraged, let's somehow fight harder...donate more, make more calls, protest more. boycott more (and not just one day, like forever as far as corporate media goes and Target if you can).

The mistake made was later proven. Some of the fiercest fighters were not white but from all creeds and races. Now tRump is using this archic law to torture and Amp up cruelty, he's Hitler all over again and we must shine a light on his actions.

Just when we thought the US government couldn’t match the two greatest offences against its citizens—the civil and human rights abuses of Black and Japanese Americans; in 2025, our government has proved again: Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it.

It was said that trump lept a copy of Mein Kampft on his bedside table. This was attributed to Melania, so it was in recent times. And to me, that spells out his admiration for the tactics of Hitler better than any statement could.

It was Ivana who told that story.

Barbara's avatar

Okay, that dates it to an even earlier period. So his admiration of Hitler goes back a much longer time. I do not doubt that he is and has always admired that psycopath though.

henry Ford and Charles Lindburg were also Nazi sympathizers.. It was afoot in the USA this German populae of ours were reluctant to join the fight and stay out of European conflicts. But eventually it became clear that it was not a local tiff but something that threatened worldwide independence and freedom all over the world. … isolation was not the way to stay FREE.

Sorry Barbara. You have a half truth. It was reported, in court, by victim #1, his first wife Ivana. She stated that she was afraid of him, because, despite not being a,reader, he kept all of Hitler's writings on his night stand.

I feel your angst. I feel your pain for your beloved father.

While my family in France & Belgium are not Jewish. They Wére deeply impacted as young teens in WWI. Taken to Germany to work in factories of war. Thankfully the Geneva Convention “righted some war wrongs”.

I still lost my grandfather, in a street battle in Paris. He was a member of the French Underground. My grandmother & mother, continued to live under Nazi occupation. Until liberated by the Allied Forces. My dad was at DDay. A chubby guy from Boston who couldn’t swim.

Liberating Paris. Thus my mother.

So many stories of Jewish playmates disappearing at night too many.

Trump insults every Jewish survivor. And every veteran.

I’m grateful my parents are deceased. As I shudder to think what they’d be feeling watching the normalization of this madman & his republican cohorts. Traitors!!!!

My dad was in Europe when he was shot in the back and became a 100% disabled vet. He got hand controls on a car, one of the first in the US. My mother was a nurse in the VA hospital in Memphis at the end of WWII and that's where she met my father. The only thing that man could not do was get up and walk. He was a paraplegic so he had use of his upper body.He died in 1968 between my Jr and Sr year of high school. My mom died in 2018 and hated the orange hitler. I am sure both are rolling over in their graves with what is happening here now.

What I love is that the Pope is NOT just head of the Catholic church in the US (many in this country are already acting like he is), but he has the huge responsibility of the global Catholic church. I was raised Catholic, have been protestant for over 50 years, but I still pay attention to what the Pope is doing, and Leo has captivated me and many with his take on scripture as applicable to life in 2025. It is alive, as is Jesus Christ! And I agree, Michael, we are NOT helpless - the world IS on our side!!

I'd like to see miller, homan, noem and bondi arrested (by hooded thugs) and immediately deported via phony charges to CECOT without due process, clothes stripped off, heads shaven upon arrival, no phone calls allowed ....... just as an exercise to see how they'd feel ..... I wonder if it would change anything about the way they'd continue to exist in the world.

If we all stand together against the evil regime, we can win! I’m not a Pollyanna, I’m an optimist with an eye toward positive events. The Supreme Court has told the felon ‘no’ three times in a row. I hope it continues, but other courts are doing the same regularly. Polls show that Americans are strongly against the lawlessness represented by the felon and his toadies. It’s simply a matter of time until We the People rise up and take our country back from the felon and oligarchs.
