Mighty Meidas is a beacon of truth and empathy. Milken is also an oligarch, please tread carefully. Let’s defend democracy with the #1 independent media platform!

Agree, but let's defend the Republic given to us by our forefather's instead. There is a key difference between one and the other.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention on September 17, 1787, as Ben Franklin left the hall in Philadelphia, he was asked, “What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?” He replied: "A republic, if you can keep it."

Can we keep it? Yes. Will we? That is the question.

Benjamin Franklin also said: "We must hang together, gentlemen, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." :-)

Indeed.

Franklin also said “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy snd wise”. Someone ought to remind our Prez to do that so that he will start acting a little wiser. And it is a caution for all of you working so hard out there at this time. To investigate and report on the current state of affairs. Take care of yourselves!!

Alas, he strikes me as someone who leans more toward this version:

"Early to bed early to rise, until you make enough money, to do otherwise." -Trump (probably)

Indeed. Avoid billionaires at all costs. We’ve all seen too many examples of where that can lead.

Milken is a convicted fraudster pardoned by Trump on February 18, 2020. The theme of this BS is "toward a flourishing future." Bessent said

"Mike Milken, like President Trump, is a visionary. In the 1970s, he had the rare combination of guts and intellect to defy the Wall Street consensus. With his heterodox approach to junk bonds, he pioneered a new asset class known today as high-yield bonds.

"By staying true to his vision, Mike overturned decades of economic orthodoxy. He bootstrapped entirely new industries by redirecting billions of dollars in capital to non-investment grade companies. His colleagues on Wall Street told him he was delusional and a fool. But history ultimately proved him right."

What he should ask is whether crooks like Milkin (i.e. Trump/Musk) can be prosecuted to fund the Treasury?

So early in the morning -- this Bessent drivel makes me want to barf on an empty stomach. I appreciate your quotes as a reminder to the "woke" among us.

I did a little research. Bessent has a history of losing in real estate deals.

In 2007, Bessent bought a house in Bedford Hills, New York for $11.3 million. He sold it in 2011 for $7.1 million, losing at least $4.2 million. In 2007, Bessent purchased a unit at One Sutton Place South that formerly belonged to a sister of John F. Kennedy, for $12 million; he sold it, at a loss, for $9.5 million in 2009.He took a loss on his unit at 720 Park Avenue, buying it for $19.25 million in 2017 and selling it for $15 million in 2021.

IMHO this makes him emminently qualified to take us into bankruptcy.

Excellent research and brilliant comment. I found on line a podcast by one of the spokes persons for the Brix alliance -- they were laughing at Bessent's attempts to "negotiate" absolutely anything.

To be fair, Milken is a long time, well known philanthropist. Which is more than you can say about his asshole peers.
