Ben, first of all I’m glad you are safe. I think you live south of the fires. My family lives north and my bonus daughter’s house caught fire. She is safe. Prayers to all!!!

Secondly, I’m now boycotting Amazon. It’s a drug from which it’s hard to withdraw, but now it’s a patriotic duty.

That’s it. Wishing you, your brothers and the Mighty Meidas a peaceful and meaningful Wednesday.

I too am boycotting all things Amazon. Especially happy that I won’t have to see the Melania infomercial!

I understand the emotional satisfaction of boycotting Amazon, but it will have no practical effect. Amazon is too big to fail, just like Chrysler and the big banks. If you can get what you want easily where you live, you're probably not hurting yourself. I live in a rural area and Amazon is the only way for me to get most products without spending an entire day looking for and retrieving them from stores 4+ hours away.

And please, no assigning "patriotic duty" to something so prosaic as purchasing every day stuff. If you want to go there, go after Biden for not doing his patriotic duty to step down in time for Dems to have had a real chance at winning the election.

Tell that to Sears, Montgomery Wards, JC Penny, Gimbel's, etc. Nobody is too big to fail. Too big to fail is code for bribing the right people for corporate bail outs and corporate welfare. If they are too big to fail they should be broken up.

I also live in a rural area and have limited stores close. What I propose those of us do is go to the actual company Amazon is getting these things from and order from them. Yes, I won’t get it in a couple of days and I may have to pay shipping but Amazon will not be profiting from me.

That's a great idea IF you can find the actual company and order on-line. Thanks for the suggestion!

Where I live, it's the only game in town. Each to their own, I say. I will now be spending less there and giving it to this Substack.

Oh yeah we should all be quiet so you can get amazon packages? The privilege! And how did Biden get named in a bezhoes/strump conversation?

So sorry you took it personally. No, of course you should not "all" be quiet, nor did I suggest that. My point was that it's not feasible for some of us to stop using Amazon. And Biden got named in this conversation because his ego was one of the reasons we're struck with Trumpty Dumpty. Biden's narcissism -- "Only I can defeat Trump" -- forced Dems into a hasty reactive rather than rational proactive campaign.

Biden's ego? He cleaned up the mess that drooling idiot left in FOUR YEARS! Want to talk lawfare? That criminal led a shadow government through the MAGA Congress, no Logan Act applied. Want to talk "lawfare?" Smearing Biden the entire time by attacking his son using Hunter's mental health crisis. There is no bottom to the bottom feeder!

Cognitive dissonance is one of the symptoms of privilege. Trumpers have the awesome ability to guide a conversation towards fantasy, reality is too complex i suppose.

Boycotting Amazon gives ME the satisfaction.... Obviously I am very aware that I alone will not bring down Amazon....that is not the point. Why would I want to give one dime of my money to something I do not support?

Quite right! Do not give ANY money to something you don't support. Lots of worthy causes out there that would be more than happy to take a donation from you. Glad you got my point!

Yes ma'am. Amazon and Netflix. I stopped my prime account a long time ago. Nor do I pay for netflix.

Why Netflix?

Because I pay a very low premium for the phone plan I’m on and share with a family member and Netflix is included. Yeah some may say you’re still paying for Netflix, but I beg to differ because I’m paying a veterans discounted rate with the company I’m with. I am not complaining about how much I pay for my phone bill. AT ALL.
