While Bezos can't be bothered with giving his $ to a good cause, his ex is doing a fantastic job at just that. Every time lil' Jeffy complains, she donates even more to nonprofits and worthwhile causes. Makes me smile every time I read about something she's done.

Stay safe Ben, you and your family.

Carol Affleck's avatar

I came here to say the same thing about MacKenzie Scott. She’s the antithesis of her ex.

Anne Randall's avatar

No wonder they’re divorced. Completely different people.

Lucille Rotstein's avatar

That's also exactly what I was going to say!

Terazel's avatar

Thank you for that information Joan, found an article on that subject I just posted!

Ilene Bilenky's avatar

Is there a site to contact MacKenzie Scott? Thank you.

Joan Sorensen's avatar

Not sure, but I'd check for her either on FB or Bluesky. She's feisty, and I love it!

Ben, first of all I’m glad you are safe. I think you live south of the fires. My family lives north and my bonus daughter’s house caught fire. She is safe. Prayers to all!!!

Secondly, I’m now boycotting Amazon. It’s a drug from which it’s hard to withdraw, but now it’s a patriotic duty.

That’s it. Wishing you, your brothers and the Mighty Meidas a peaceful and meaningful Wednesday.

Tracy London's avatar

Me too on all points

Laurie Reynolds's avatar

I too am boycotting all things Amazon. Especially happy that I won’t have to see the Melania infomercial!

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

I understand the emotional satisfaction of boycotting Amazon, but it will have no practical effect. Amazon is too big to fail, just like Chrysler and the big banks. If you can get what you want easily where you live, you're probably not hurting yourself. I live in a rural area and Amazon is the only way for me to get most products without spending an entire day looking for and retrieving them from stores 4+ hours away.

And please, no assigning "patriotic duty" to something so prosaic as purchasing every day stuff. If you want to go there, go after Biden for not doing his patriotic duty to step down in time for Dems to have had a real chance at winning the election.

LincolnzGhost's avatar

Tell that to Sears, Montgomery Wards, JC Penny, Gimbel's, etc. Nobody is too big to fail. Too big to fail is code for bribing the right people for corporate bail outs and corporate welfare. If they are too big to fail they should be broken up.

Rene Rountree's avatar

I also live in a rural area and have limited stores close. What I propose those of us do is go to the actual company Amazon is getting these things from and order from them. Yes, I won’t get it in a couple of days and I may have to pay shipping but Amazon will not be profiting from me.

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

That's a great idea IF you can find the actual company and order on-line. Thanks for the suggestion!

Susan N's avatar

That’s what I do.

Patricia Massie's avatar

Where I live, it's the only game in town. Each to their own, I say. I will now be spending less there and giving it to this Substack.

Ron Bailey's avatar

Oh yeah we should all be quiet so you can get amazon packages? The privilege! And how did Biden get named in a bezhoes/strump conversation?

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

So sorry you took it personally. No, of course you should not "all" be quiet, nor did I suggest that. My point was that it's not feasible for some of us to stop using Amazon. And Biden got named in this conversation because his ego was one of the reasons we're struck with Trumpty Dumpty. Biden's narcissism -- "Only I can defeat Trump" -- forced Dems into a hasty reactive rather than rational proactive campaign.

Cindy Schneider's avatar

Biden's ego? He cleaned up the mess that drooling idiot left in FOUR YEARS! Want to talk lawfare? That criminal led a shadow government through the MAGA Congress, no Logan Act applied. Want to talk "lawfare?" Smearing Biden the entire time by attacking his son using Hunter's mental health crisis. There is no bottom to the bottom feeder!

Ron Bailey's avatar

Cognitive dissonance is one of the symptoms of privilege. Trumpers have the awesome ability to guide a conversation towards fantasy, reality is too complex i suppose.

Jill Halpenny's avatar

Boycotting Amazon gives ME the satisfaction.... Obviously I am very aware that I alone will not bring down Amazon....that is not the point. Why would I want to give one dime of my money to something I do not support?

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

Quite right! Do not give ANY money to something you don't support. Lots of worthy causes out there that would be more than happy to take a donation from you. Glad you got my point!

Susan N's avatar

I see your point. Thank you for bringing it up

Get Er Done's avatar

Yes ma'am. Amazon and Netflix. I stopped my prime account a long time ago. Nor do I pay for netflix.

Get Er Done's avatar

Because I pay a very low premium for the phone plan I’m on and share with a family member and Netflix is included. Yeah some may say you’re still paying for Netflix, but I beg to differ because I’m paying a veterans discounted rate with the company I’m with. I am not complaining about how much I pay for my phone bill. AT ALL.

Susan N's avatar

Thanks for the info.

I’m so very tired of the people that say they hate “politics” so they avoid educating themselves on current events, civics, however you want to label it. The ignorance is appalling. THIS IS NOT POLITICS, IT’S OUR LIVES, IT’S OUR FUTURE!

A friend’s therapist just made the comment to her that all of the storms will stop once 🍊 takes office! She seriously said this!!! My friend is dropping her therapist.

God help us.

Anne Johnson's avatar

That therapist should lose her license!

Diane Riley's avatar

Why do you assume the therapist is a woman? I didn't note any reference to gender in the comment.

Debbie Broome's avatar

To clarify, it was a woman.

Rosann's avatar

‘She’ seriously said this!!!

I was told by my painter in 2020 that Covid would stop when the election was over. NOPE. The leaders of our country in 2021 started the COVID management and recovery process and along with many other fine things......did more for our country and the middle and lower class than had been done in decades.

Jan Frederick's avatar

People are just too lazy to read and think for themselves. They want someone else to do it for them. I am ashamed that so many in my family are like this.

Susan Schmale's avatar

Americans are not well-read or informed & it’s simply disgusting!!

judy's avatar

wait till your children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews get targeted for being uneducated. Thats what your incomming president wants uneducated sheep followers that kiss the ring and do his bidding.

Deliberate ignorance =stupidity

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

I am an American. I have 2 doctorates -- molecular biology and law -- and read at least 1 book a week. I probably know more about Constitutional law than you do unless you are a Constitutional law scholar. I also worked in D.C. for several years, and spent a lot of time reading in the Library of Congress. Are you an American? If so, why are you trashing ALL your fellow citizens, including yourself? Note you did not say "some Americans," just "Americans." If you're not an American, you clearly don't have the perspective to make this comment.

Jill Halpenny's avatar

And you bring up Biden's ego:)

Cindy Schneider's avatar

Good for you. Now talk to my in laws in Springfield, Ohio who watch FOX Disinformation Channel all day every day. They wanted those Haitians gone, even though it will put those business owners out of business. They did OK voting for trickle down 40 years, but the town turned rust belt, just like Middletown, where JD's Mammaw and Pappaw saved him from foster care in Ohio. He forgot just as quick as my in laws. JDs answer to that is kiss Mango Mussolini's ass as he grabs power. What do you think will become of Springfield and Middletown?

Tim Fennell's avatar

The people who believed that Trump collected billions from China for the tariffs he imposed on Chinese goods. Economists said that tariffs are paid by the receivers of the goods i.e. Target, Walmart etc. and the extra cost gets paid by their shoppers. Trump said he was right and the cult believed him. Quarterly earnings for chains both said they expected costs to go up if tariffs were applied.

Jan Frederick's avatar

I have a niece who has a small business and her cost for materials have already gone up putting her finances in a precarious position. This is just the beginning!

judy's avatar

yes because thats how it works. And they know it, the rich get richer and the poor get even poorer. But belive in a saviour who is slowly taking their freedom away.

Susan Schmale's avatar

And the sheer narcissism & stupidity of these morons has screed US to the max!

I hope they ALL get what’s coming to them‼️

Cathy Delia's avatar

Kudos to your friend.

JudiLI's avatar

I really believe the nugget for the whole movie deal is that Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue, refused to put Melania on the cover of the magazine. Trump has railed about this in the past. Of course, it’s another opportunity for Bezos to kiss ass. I wonder if the movie will include Melanie’s early ‘modeling’ photos when she was so poor she couldn’t afford clothing.

Jan Frederick's avatar

Trump and Melania must have really been galled by Biden giving Anna a medal the other day!!

Pamela Godman's avatar

Can you just imagine how boring and phony this would be

T L Mills's avatar

good one--thanks for the chuckle, Judith!

Putin has already displayed those on the Russian news channel.

Bezos movies are 3rd rate, They suck like the director and the fecuil matter subject here. It's a perfect marriage of A_$ kissers, porn, lies and fake news! WhoTF wants to know the life's story of a person with NO LIFE?, TRUMP WOULD! , that's about it!

This hooker wife of his is a brain dead, non- English speaking , KitKatClub, gold digging broad who married a rapist! LOL DEAD DOCUMENTARY!

I cancelled my Amazon Prime after the WaPo debacle and haven’t looked back.

Mel's avatar

I cancelled my Amazon prime this past weekend too. I know us cancelling won’t hurt his pockets, but I wish a lot more people started doing that.

Susan N's avatar

I took a break and found the drug of package delivery overnight too powerful to combat. Went back and shopped there again.

This is not okay. I am pulling my Amazon prime. That means I need to find an alternative to Audible too.

My money will not be going to people who are out for themselves and not for the people. That is not how I live my life.

I do use my library card for ebooks but because I have a kindle, I have to use Amazon .. time for some research. Thank you!

Christine Baker's avatar

Me too! It’s had positive results. I’m an octogenarian introvert. Boycotting Amazon has forced me to shop in my neighborhood. Getting out of the house frequently has been a blessing. I have more energy; I’ve met some very interesting people. I highly recommend it.

Danita Hamilton's avatar

Who wants to see this Botox woman in anything let alone a documentary. I can never understand what this truly disgusting woman says when she opens her greedy mouth. All these pathetic people care about is money. They don’t care about people who are poor, middle class, people who are struggling and suffering. All they care about is making a buck at any cost. What a way to be remembered by being a greedy spineless SOB.

Jane in NC's avatar

She's about as interesting as watching paint dry. To put it in terms she - and Bezos - can understand: I really don't care, do you?

Danita Hamilton's avatar

Exactly well said 💯💯

Hal Schwalbe's avatar

At least paint drying serves a purpose.

T L Mills's avatar

Nope; not in the least.

I won’t be watching it. Enough already. The Russians will ensure their version has plenty of nude shots. It’s all so depressing.

Hi Ben, born and raised SoCal girl here now living in New York. I left in 2005, by that time global warming was already impacting California. It breaks my heart to see it. Stay safe, we are all thinking of you and your family.

Melania has lunch with Stormy Daniels monthly. Might be a very interesting documentary.

An Mcgreevy's avatar

Maybe they’re starting a union?

WJB Motown's avatar

When Melania is finished with the secret servicing man.......Stormy cums over for a visit?

Persianprincess's avatar

He can spend 40 million for a documentary about a woman married to a cheating spouse who she is beholden to be with financially? Ha what will we see? Her pity partly because her husband cheated on her with a porn star while she was pregnant? Bezos is an idiot. Can’t pay his workers but pays melania? I am going to enjoy the show when money isn’t enough for bezos and the other a$$ kissers to stay in Trump and musks good graces

Pooky's avatar

Money is a zero sum game. If I have $100 and give or pay you $30 then I have $70. You don’t make money, you just get it off of some one else. The great redistribution of wealth has made people feel poor. Money is a thin value. If I give you kindness, friendship and/ or love, however, I then have created twice as much of that. We need new measures of wealth. Thank you Ben for all you do! ❤️MeidasTouch ❤️
