I just had the honor of speaking with North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs again to get the latest updates on a story that isn’t getting nearly enough coverage. So, we’re doing something about that here at MeidasTouch.
Justice Riggs is the duly elected winner of the 2024 North Carolina Supreme Court race. She beat her MAGA opponent, Jefferson Griffin—not once, not twice, but three times if you count the recounts. And still, Griffin refuses to accept reality. Instead of conceding with dignity like any decent human being would, he’s trying to pull a Trump-style stunt by getting tens of thousands of legitimate ballots thrown out after the election.
That’s right—this isn’t just sore-loser behavior. It’s a direct threat to democracy. Griffin filed a lawsuit after the loss, got a ruling from his own court (yes, he’s a Court of Appeals judge), and took it all the way to the NC Supreme Court, where they narrowed his ridiculous request to target about 1,600 to 1,700 military and overseas ballots. But here’s the catch: every single one of those voters followed the law. They did everything right. And yet they’re being put through an unnecessary and confusing “cure” process months after the election—just because they come from Democratic-leaning areas.
As Justice Riggs told me, this is not just about her race. This is the GOP playbook in 2024 and beyond: lose an election, then try to reverse-engineer the results by targeting specific classes of voters after the fact. If they get away with it here, they’ll try it everywhere. She called it “toothpaste out of the tube”—once it starts, it’s almost impossible to stop.
Justice Riggs comes from a military family. Her dad served. She’s furious that military voters, people putting their lives on the line for this country, are being used as pawns in a MAGA election denial scheme. She’s not taking this lying down, and neither should we.
You can support Justice Riggs’ efforts to fight back at riggsforourcourts.com. Check the list to see if someone you know might be affected. Spread the word. Because this fight is bigger than North Carolina. It’s about protecting the future of free and fair elections in America.
